Never heard Jarren Benton before. He’s pretty ill. I’ll be checking out his set.

Entrappedmind, yes indeed I believe it was in NYC, somewhere between $10,000 – $40,000 (maybe more!)… and yeah some waiter sprays a mist of perfume on it after every bite. That’s maniacal. At the time of learning about it, no one had actually had the stones to purchase it, or the ignorance. A group of wealthy Asian businessmen were slated to be the first to eat it, but they backed out.

I think eating that would classify as all seven deadly sins simultaneously. Except wrath maybe.. but I’d feel wrath at the ass spraying that godamned perfume on my multi thousand dollar meal!

I think wrath would enter into it while all the surrounding folks watched in seething hatred as some jacknut blew what they earned in one year on one meal.

For real lol… well I couldn’t find the specific one but I found one that is $99,000 and some change. There’s plenty of these gluttonous meals out there. And.. this…

The world’s most expensive fruit is a pineapple coming from none other than Cornwall, England. Seem like a strange place to grow a tropical fruit? That’s because it is! The process of growing the world’s most expensive pineapple is extremely complicated. So what’s the pricy secret to these pineapples? They are reportedly developed under 30 tons of manure and are soaked in horse urine. It sounds gross, but they are apparently so delicious that they can sell for around $15,000.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kopi_Luwak
Kopi luwak (Indonesian pronunciation: [ˈkopi ˈlu.aʔ]), or civet coffee, refers to the beans of coffee berries once they have been eaten and egested by the Asian palm civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus).[1] The name is also used for marketing brewed coffee made from the beans.

Producers of the coffee beans argue that the process may improve coffee through two mechanisms, selection and digestion. Selection occurs if the civets choose to eat coffee berries containing better beans. Digestive mechanisms may improve the flavor profile of the coffee beans that have been eaten. The civet eats the berries for the beans’ fleshy pulp, then in the digestive tract, fermentation occurs. The civet’s proteolytic enzymes seep into the beans, making shorter peptides and more free amino acids.[2] Passing through a civet’s intestines the beans are then defecated with other fecal matter and collected.

@entrappedmind Thanks for the listings! (sorry if it became a chore ;p) I much rather getting recommendations from a fan of an artist instead of looking at click/views. Makes for a better jump on what people think makes an artist as popular as they are.

Not a problem, @cheshyr… Like I said, though, most of those I linked to are older songs so I’m not sure whether they’d be ones they do on-stage or not. Those are just some of my favorites. A few others (that I won’t link to and make another mega-post lol) would be – Hopsin: Nocturnal Rainbows, Hop is Back, Rip Your Heart Out, Trampoline (Another favorite, for the beat alone, song itself is pointless); Jarren Benton: Justin Bieber, We On, Go Off…

Been checking out some Dizzy Wright as well, since I never really gave him a fair shake… Aaaand still can’t really get into him. The ones I found that aren’t too bad are World Peace, Can’t Stop Won’t Stop, and Independent Living (Just ’cause the video is weird as hell lol). His stuff is just more laid back, slow, and ‘chill’ for my taste. Dude’s got talent, I don’t dispute that for a millisecond. Just not my taste.

PS: @psyral-infection, diggin’ the countdown thing-a-ma-jig.

So this afternoon I was daydreaming about going to this year’s Gathering and having fun planning things in my head… BUT…

The one piece of information we don’t have yet that I just can’t get past is regarding early arrivals or IOW the Parking Lot Parties. Looking at the satellite pics, Jacksontown Rd is not *nearly long enough for everyone to pull off to the side of the road to fit the amount of people that have taken up the fields back at HogRock. All of the parking is within the fenced confines of LegendValley which also have open access (seriously open access) to the camping areas…

If they don’t let people in, then everyone is gonna line the street. Most directions take you there using the interstate and the stretch of road between the exit from it and the entrance to the grounds is only a few hundred yards and then the rest of the road in the *other direction leads right into a town to the south. If we’re all pulled over single file, the line would be all the way down there.

This one bit of knowledge would really help in the planning of a slew of other decisions like what time to leave, what directions to use to get there (if they’re letting people in I’m taking the interstate, if not I have a plan to detour to get to Jacksontown Rd from the south end), any contingencies I might need to plan for should I get there HOURS in advance such as lookin’ for safe parking lots or friendly greasy spoons that’ll let me chill for a long while on just buying some coffee, meetups, packing order and a bunch of other stuff! Jeesh!

1: It’s gonna be a 4-6 hour drive for me (Haven’t mapped it, just going by typical drive time from here to Columbus), and I took vacation starting the 23rd – would it be wisest for me to just leave when I get out of work the 22nd at 3p? Get a hotel the night before? Or will there be folks lined up the night before that I would just join up with?

At HogRock they had the parking lot party the day before that lasted through the night till they opened the gates the next morning. 2 years ago, I was one of the lucky 700 or so that got in early (the night before the gates were scheduled to open) but they didn’t do that last year. What will happen at Legends? No clue. I have a hotel already booked from Sunday to give my wife and I a day or two rest before the gathering from a 20+ hour drive. If we hear word via FB/Twitter/FLH etc. that people are lining up we will check out and head over there (about 10 minutes from the hotel.)

Sounds like that’d be a cool “offer/idea”? (Is that what your reply was meant as). But still, at least ONE poor bastard has to go there and find out, an’ once yer there…

It’s not a problem if you’re one of the first few truckloads of people but when shit starts backing up to the highway you just KNOW we’re just open to all kinds of stuff.

I’m in the same boat, Cheshyr. I’d be happy to toss out a status when I arrive, but I am pretty damn sure I won’t be early enough for it to matter. Perhaps there’s some method to the parking situation that they have figured out and we’re not aware of yet. I mean, that part of it is handled by Gathering personnel, right? Not the venue’s? So, it stands to reason they’ll expect people early… Right?

From the General Info link on the Gathering site:

There is a 10 acre field located near the front entrance to Legend Valley where you may park your vehicle for free.

and

We also ask everyone to not show up early to the Gathering. This has caused us problems in the past and we ask that everyone take this into serious consideration

So, I dunno what to take from that…

EDIT: Although, BONUS! I just mapped it for the first time. I dunno why I was thinking 4-6 hours. It’s 2.5 hours. SWEET. So maybe I can be that unfortunate bastard that is there WAY too early.

That is probably referring to the amount of Pre-GOTJ overdoses and arrests last year.

Oh, I hadn’t seen that bit about NOT arriving early. I’ve looked at the page a while ago I think you got it from and just thought they copied it from the previous Gathering’s info so I just glanced it… not to mention, what’s with the past tense? It’s the first one held there so… prolly what PRJ said though.

Well how the hell are they gonna manage THAT then? A LOT of people will be driving for 12+hrs, how are they all supposed to know *exactly how long it’s gonna take to get there? This ain’t a nightclub with people just standing at a door to get in. Okay sure, EIGHT HOURS or more in advance may be a bit too much of an allowance for you to show up but with the camping situation being what it is, those tree line/forest spots are gonna turn into a Hunger Games bum rush if they think everyone is gonna stand in file all quiet n’shit.

[worried grumble] From the looks at the map, there is a huge Rest Area on the interstate just before the exit to Legend valley, there’s a big parking lot at the bottom of the exit ramp (no idea what for) and TWO gas stations right next to the place… Would it be better for us all to pro-actively coordinate some kind of staging area for everyone to hang at before they open the gates because I think if we’re all scattered hanging around any of THOSE places we’re just gonna get rolled by cops like crazy. I don’t plan on “carrying” myself but we all know stickers alone can/will get fucked with…

*These are my rhetorical, currently unanswerable questions I’m dealing with… harrumph.

I’d totally be down for a pre-game meetup. My route has me taking mostly back-roads so I’d have to double back a bit for the interstate, but it’s entirely doable. Sounds like a feasible plan.

This is true… Out of curiousity, but on a related note, would a sticker (considering the “gang” BS) constitute probable cause?
