Probably depends on the state. I’m pretty sure that in Massachusetts, smelling marijuana is no longer considered probably cause.

- If consent is refused, the officer may detain the suspects for a reasonable amount of time. In 2005, the U.S. Supreme Court decided that using a drug-sniffing dog around the outside of a vehicle does not require a warrant nor any specific suspicion or probable cause, and does not violate the Fourth Amendment. If the dog “alerts” to the presence of drugs, that creates enough probable cause for a full search, without consent or a warrant. The “reasonable” amount of time provision is vaguely defined, although wait times up to 90 minutes have been allowed by federal courts [ref].

They bring dogs every single fucking time I get pulled over in VA. I have two prior weed charges and I always refuse consent. This leads them to detain my vehicle until the dogs can walk around it. One time they hit even though my car was clean (There may or may not have been zips in the trunk a few days before though) it was annoying none the less.

In VA its a primary offense all my brothers who actually still push have removed all decals to decrease their profiles. Tattoos also land you on gang file here too…Showing your affinity for a family is not worth hard time, but alot of them are already on gang file for other affiliations so its kinda a moot point.

Weed in any amount under an ounce is just a $100 dollar ticket here in Massachusetts. They’ll still take your shit, but you won’t get arrested for it or just having a pipe like used to happen when I was a teenager. What I always do, is I just put my head down, look really ashamed and say “Yeahhhh, I got a little” and hand ’em a little bag of 2 grams or less. I always keep a bag like this in my middle console for this exact purpose. Every single time, they say thank you for being honest, and never search my car. If they only knew about the half ounce of kush in the glove compartment….
This has worked for me every single time, I advise ya’ll to do the same and save your stash man.

I thought everyone knew about the dogs thing now. Some shit about your car even being on the road (cuz driving’s a “privilege” not a right) makes your car like a bubble they can hold on to but not pop without that probable cause.
@JonnMilenko – Yeah I was thinking the same thing about the Rest Area. I meant it more as a place where people may end up congregating, leaving themselves open to fuckery (or letting/getting themselves into trouble). “It’s a TRAP!” The weird parking lot and gas stations don’t look like much better options either. I think I’m going to have to go with my alternate route to take my up the south end of Jackson Town Rd. I’m not pulling off to wait in line on the interstate. I’m not dirty but I still don’t like getting eyeballed.
Personally, I’m not gonna feel “safe” until I get into those fields with ya’ll. THEN it’s JuggaLaw. But those trees though… I foresee some seriously suspect shit going down to get those spots. SOMEbody’s going to Night Court over SOMEthing about it. But it’s either cook for days or…

Not gonna lie, I have no idea who 95% of those people are up there. I usually only watch main stage and the acts on all the other stages are just the ones I know of. Seeing someone in concert isn’t usually a good way to judge someone’s music for the first time. The Gathering isn’t all about the shows to me, I love the atmosphere and trippin’ balls all night long.
