So by your logic that some of us cannot recognize talent (and you can) Mr. @the-warlock , how do you explain this:I apologize for bringing you into this, but you make a fine example @ltb , so if –
Ltb thoroughly enjoys AMB and so does Warlock, then you both understand the “talent” that fellows such as @luckynumbrxiii and myself do not possess. Okay maybe you’re right. You are a rapper, after all.
Next, you Warlock enjoy Esham, Natas, and Myzery. You can see their talent and recognize that they aren’t wack in the rap game, as it were.
I also enjoy Esham, Natas and Myzery. A lot. How can I see their skill and not AMB’s?
Ltb, from what I’ve gathered, DOES NOT enjoy Esham, Natas, nor Myzery. He sounds like he very much does not find them talented.
How can three people from different walks of life, whom all enjoy ICP and Twiztid so much, yet cannot agree on the talent of four other groups who were all at some point associated with their treasured record label’s acts? (Omitting Mastamind as I don’t believe he has done any Psy tracks… TNT has done a couple guest shots)?
Mathematically it makes no sense. So maybe, just maybe, it is exactly what Lucky said: personal tastes in music.
I know Eminem is one of the greatest. I don’t usually listen to him since I don’t care for his voice, attitude, or vibes. Am I stupid because I don’t want to listen to another grown man, albeit a talented one, rhyme words in my eardrums that mostly just irritate me?
lol i strongly agree with the bolded.. i never denied that.. personal taste doesnt equate to talent tho.. its like.. a singer can either hit a high note or not… so a rapper is either chopping clearly & precisely or stumbling & muffled.. ya feel me? & guess which kid has the talent of the 2.. a rapper can rhyme at a basic elementary level (cat/hat, be/g) or they can add a multitude of complexities.. Now which one is more impressive is a preference thing but regardless now just because a rapper has talent it doesnt mean theyll make good music or music youll like.. but if you know “rapping” & “emceeing” then you should be able to see the talent regardless even if the music aint for you. & i dont think you have to rap to be able to see it..
as far as the eminem thing not liking a dope rapper does not make you stupid nor is it wrong in any way..we all have our tastes.. however if you were to claim hes talent-less you’d prob come across as foolish to some.. & ftr this is all the views & beliefs of my dumbass perception.. regardless of whatever misconceptions of me there are i dont try to act like im some hip hop guru.. i just call it how i see it from my reality & experiences..

Like, I can rap Stamina like Tech N9ne now after listening to it for so long. Does that mean I am now as talented as Tech? NNNNOOOOOOOOOO
lol upload a video to youtube & we’ll be the judge of how accurate and good you are haha.. & no you wouldnt be as talented as tech cuz rappin one song fast that someone else wrote isnt his only talent..
LuckyNumbrXIII said
And what about when every thing they have that resembles talent is done better by someone else? What then?
then they are just like every other rapper & human being out there.. cuz no matter what there’s always gonna be someone out there who’s bigger & better than you.. and everyone else..

Interesting point. My boy told me that when I visited him down in NC a couple summers ago, I was black out drunk and exhausted from a long car ride, but I freestyle “chopped” out of nowhere and he said it was the most amazing thing he’s ever heard. He is also a huge Strange fan, which plays a part. I then passed out between a tree and his trailer.
@the-warlock I understand what you’re saying here, and kudos for your most concise and least (seemingly) biased explanation in awhile. Once again, I recognize Shady’s talent, he’s a beast, but not for me. I like Xzibit a lot, yet I could see where some wouldn’t due to his raspy voice and thematic material.
Okay, so I finally purchased that “Make Me Go Mad” by AMB off Amazon for $0.99. It was not awful. The funny thing is, Warlock sir, your homie Otis is CHOPPY CHOP CHOPPITIY CHOPPING his verse!! I know you don’t equate chopping with talent, or any special kind of talent, but I feel that his verse was the best on the whole track. I still don’t like his voice, nor Bonez’, and the thing is I DON’T REMEMBER A WORD THEY SAID after listening to it once. I remember ICP’s, because they always stand out with their unique voices and choices. Voices n choices. Voicez n choicez…
So yes, Otis has talent. The other human does too. But there are so many more that can do this just as good and better. But that’s who you like, so like them. Don’t worry about my opinion.
It was worth the $0.99 . However, this is coming from a man who at his darkroom job has lost $0.85 for a small coffee and $1.10 for a large FIVE times this working semester at my college, and I am not upset. I don’t have too much money to burn, but it doesn’t upset me. In comparison, if the track sucked (I like it overall, don’t love it), and I basically wasted my $0.99, then it wouldn’t have upset me as much as the coffee.
Because fool me once, shame on you, coffee machine. Fool me five times? Then I’M the idiot lol… My logic here is that I probably will never buy another AMB song again, much less an album, but I would be willing to risk spending my $0.85 – $1.10 on the 1 in 6 chance that my disgusting coffee will actually come out next time. Or that it will at least give me my cup. Or not just a cup of hot, grainy water.
Fuck that machine.
Anyway, headed to work, but here’s my consensus, despite my ribbing using Coffee Machine analogies:
– The track was good, not great (to me)
– It was worth $0.99, no doubt. I’ll transfer it to my PC boombox upstairs sometime soon using my flash drive.
– I still don’t love AMB, but I’m fine with what they do.
– They have talent. But not for me to play consistently.
– I also screwed up my “Don’t diss AMB anymore” vow… I’m trying but it’s like kicking an addictive substance lol
PEACE

Definitely subjective. All about personal taste. And OMD is right, I’m pretty sure AMB are like the first and only artists me and warlock fully agree on. And I do completely fucking hate Esham, NATAS, and Myzery. Yet if you ask warlock, especially about esham, theyre the most talented godly human beings in music in the history of the universe.

Esham, Natas, and Myzery are all trash. Esham always sounds like he’s freestyling but with a little downs syndrome to it. can’t stand him.

Jesus Christ, dude. I don’t need to research to know who sucks. Like, I enjoyed Wu Tang back in the day. I liked Redman, 2pac, and many other rap greats. Before they were known as “greats.” But for some reason I, along with many others, can recognize that AMB is not special. Why can’t you handle that? Are you financially invested in these guys? Can I just say that I don’t like something without you trying to tell me there’s something wrong with me? Fuck off, for real guy.
^^This guy gets it. I totally agree with everything that you’ve said on this thread. The Warlock is such a fan of AMB that he takes it personally when somebody else doesn’t. He’s like that with Esham too, and with a lot of his old music as well. You really can’t tell him anything, he’s incapable of hearing it. How can he call Esham “The Godfather” after not having an album worth a shit in well over a decade? Shit, after DMT Sessions and Venus Flytrap he’s not even worthy of the title “Red Headed Stepchild.” Warlock will tell you when you disagree with his shitty horrible taste in music by saying that he’s a rapper and has studied the craft (Though never speculates as to how, other than watching rap battles on youtube), and therefore you’re opinion is irrelevant, and he is unequivocally right. This is not hate, this is truth.
I am much like you, we listened to the same shit back in the day homie. Redman is still one of my favorite rappers to this day, especially all that old school Darkside/Muddy Waters shit. I also think that AMB is generic at best, but our opinion will never matter to some people. Not everyone though. Take LTB, he’ll just say dude I disagree this album is the shit you’re nuts, I love it. He won’t go all Jehovah Witness on you, and there are others like him as well. The Warlock will insult your intelligence by claiming that you have none. But he will happily set you straight by refusing to listen to you or anybody else while claiming supreme intelligence because he has supposedly “Studied the craft” (Whatever that means). I’ve read a lot of books, doesn’t make me Stephen King or Clive Barker. Doesn’t man that I could write a great book, but if I did and you didn’t like it, it’s like me saying your personal taste does not come into play, you know nothing. Why? Because I’ve read more books than you, therefore I am more intelligent and you are better off letting me make your decisions for you, based off of my personal tastes, not yours. What do you know? Don’t question me, I write books!!!!!! Fuck outta here, some people…..

Shit, my bad @old-mr-dangerous, I basically rehashed what you said in my last post. This is what happens when you don’t read threads all the way through before commenting. I just saw the homie’s post and commented on it, without realizing that someone else probably already did. I just didn’t check. My bad man, sorry about that.

It’s hard to draw the line between “lack of talent” and “personal taste”… I’ve liked bands/performers all through my life that other musicians tell me lack talent. I have the musical ability of a nuthair, personally, so I don’t feel I can argue who does or doesn’t have talent. I can, however, continue to enjoy listening to what I find appealing, ‘talent’ notwithstanding.
It’s always been like that for me with Mushroomhead. Awhile back, I was dating a chick from Cleveland whose friends were part of the music scene, and they constantly hammered me about why I like ‘shroomhead, because they don’t have talent, I think the argument was always centered around the guitar riffs being elementary or some shit. Was it jealousy because MRH made it and these folks hadn’t? Was is simply hate because at that time it was “trendy” among the underground to like them? Hell, I dunno, and don’t care. I liked them, and continue to, and that’s that.
I mean, shit, don’t y’all realize THIS argument is what most non-juggalos base their hate for us around? That’s the #1 pet peeve about ICP amongst the mainstream – that what they do doesn’t even qualify as music. And I think we can all agree, whether our opinions are educated or not, that J and Shaggy are some talented motherfuckers.
So why take the path of everyone out there hating on us? Because, essentially, that’s exactly what you’re doing for hating on someone for their personal music taste.
Like AMB, or don’t. I’m personally on the fence, but leaning towards liking them. But don’t hate on your fellow juggalos for feeling different from you – that’s what brought US together in the first goddamn place.

this is why is believe that the warlock isnt a juggalo. he just has the music. thats all.
i dont think hes ever said anything close to, ‘i am a juggalo’. but i do think he has said plenty that makes me think otherwise.
eg, how he would rather watch a freestyle rap battle, than attend the gathering.
awfully paranoid, arent you?
