Of the three, I'm now listening to the Outtakes the most.ditto. the other two have grown on me about as far as theyre ever gonna.
But yeah, I have a feeling we're going to be seeing/hearing a lot of Young Wicked for awhile. I don't think he's terrible, and truthfully, I was not feeling the direction MEC was taking them on the last few albums. As far as production goes, this is by far my favorite era of the new deck.
ohhhhh...
imagine me holdin my heart and wavin at the sky like fred sanford.
LOL Sorry, Scruffy. Not saying they're unlistenable front to back, I have favorite tracks on both albums.
But I find myself going back to the Tempest before I touch BPB or MDP.

but thats more a reflection of just how big a fan i am of the tempest, than any flaws in mecs work.
I gotchu.
And that's what's cool about this. ICP's work is so eclectic. I find it interesting to hear and read the varying opinions.

I find myself listening to The Outtakes more then Lost or Found too, however it may just be because it's a newer release. I think the outtakes album alone would've been a worthy 3'rd jokers card, and I love Lost and Found. Some of the best treats they've given us in years.
I actually love BPB and MDP as well, they're already classics in my eyes. Some of my favorite albums of theirs, dare I say. I started listening to ICP around the Jeckel Brothers era, with Riddle Box being my first album, and I couldn't be more stoked for each album, as they've yet to disappoint me with this set.
As far as Young Wicked goes, I think his solo album was a real gem. The subject matter was really relatable and I find myself bumping it quite a bit. I don't think he messed ICP's stuff up at all, quite the opposite. You can tell he's really passionate in all he does, and I'm glad he's here to stay. He blows away any other current Psy artist right now if you ask me, and is about as good anyone that's been on the label. I'm really excited for the future after the handful of albums we've gotten this year.
A return of MEC for another album would be very welcomed though. ;)

i remember when icp said the thing they didn't like about the tempest is that mec just emailed them some random beats, then they recorded the vocals in the lotus pod. they weren't in the studio together at any point.

Ok... about "Mr. White Suit"... (cuz I just can't NOT bring it up anymore for fear of the conversation it may turn into)
Now, I see a lot of stuff about how people seem to think they are talking about Jesus 'er some shit... but for listen ONE for me...
THIS is the kind of thing I have ALWAYS thought the song was talking about:
Slick ass evil shysters taking advantage...
Anyone else?
Am I way off 'er what?
Of course all it would take is for a single meet n' greet or Gathering seminar question to find out but.... whatever.

No, I don't think you're way off. I had to go back and re-listen to it. You may have just changed the way I view this song entirely. I mean it does have that mindless follower vibe to it; which is why I tend to skip it.

That's a real interesting thought... like, maybe the song is really supposed to be about people with no hope being so desperate to put their faith in something, even if it's bullshit. I would doubt it myself, just because I think if J was doing that he wouldn't be so subtle, there would be some more direct clues about it in the song. Then again though, maybe the lyrics are just basically him riffing on the Mr. White Suit character more or less off the dome, and what you're saying is part of it but subconciously. Cool idea either way though.
