I just assumed Mr. White Suit is about Jesus since he's the biggest pimp ever and did and does those miracles. And if you're lost, he's the one you find and follow him home.

I think it's supposed to be the missing link, like, the idea is overly interpreted as religious (I do it too) because they talk about faith but really they're saying what they were saying on the juggalo show the other day. If you believe things can get better, they will. You just gotta make it happen by focusing on the positive.

So when a city, like Detroit, is impoverished and derelict and shit, if the whole city finds their links then it'll sweep through changing everything.

ah, so finally i see some of your opinions on the new albums!
i guessed that you wouldnt like it, but out of curiosity, what are three tracks that you enjoy from each Missing Link?

guess i never did say much about it, did i?
ill put sumn in the other thread.

lost - shrug.  basicly every song is between c plus and c minus.  usually dipping to a d when otis starts singin.  quick pick 3...  vomit [up until the 'heaven rejected you' singy part;  say, am i the only one who cant help but be reminded of beat it...?], uhh...  apocalypse, uhh...  and you should know, again, sans-singing.

found - does have a few great moments on it.  get clowned, i will say lost at the carnival, and definitely the midway.  as a whole, though, the album really isnt any better than lost.

guess ill just do a big stupid found writeup while im here, since inquiring minds wanna know.

first off, ive already gone into my thoughts on the unappealing nature of the overall concept.  the whole 'get god or fuck you' thing.  those thoughts are still pretty much the same, so ill try to leave em out of this, but its a factor, so... anyway.

intro - aaagh.  bad bad.  perhaps one percent better than the lost intro, but...  nah, its just as bad.

found - cut out the whoever reciting the 'healed by the power of prayer' rote, and this is a decent enough track.  not my cup of tea, but still.

get clowned - good stuff.  id describe it as a standard icp kickoff track [in yo face, hokus pokus, etc etc].  they can do one of these in their sleep.  that kinda undersells the song;  its a banger.  but not a all-time classic, probably.

ok - title is a misnomer.  look, i see what theyre goin for n shit...  i just cant see myself diggin it.  talkin about good icp workout music, this would be terrific for any juggalos in aerobics classes.

lost at the carnival - this song is reasonably good.  even though nothing ever really 'happens'.  kinda like the zipper.

mr white suit - oh boy.  train wreck.  cheesy music, verses aint special, chorus and singing are unbearable.  god/jesus metaphor impossible to ignore.  instant skip track.

pineapple pizza - uhh...  zallrightish.  filler, at best.  chorus is like switchin over to the zug izland channel for ten seconds.

juggalo party - add this to your aerobics mix, do some jumping jacks n shit.  would be easier to care about if the chorus wasnt so stiflingly wack.

the midway -  im diggin the shit outta this one.  okay, like lost at the carnival, its not much goin on but a description of what carnivals are about or whatever, but the beat actually sounds like an icp song, the verses are great, the chorus is not all fucked up.  its a standout, probably the one standout on the album.  like, a year from now, thisll likely be the only track i much care for.

i fucked a cop - good enough.  basicly what im lookin to get from a shaggy solo cut.

the world is yours - did i mention i hate hollywood musicals?  dunno why i mention that, but this track is like ok, only for people who are too easily overstimulated.

dreams of grandeur - oddball track that in times past woulda been on a ff, if that.  today, its filler.  song mighta been bumpable if it wasnt country-ified.

im sweet - i kinda like it.  lil goofy, but not bad in any particular way.

time - umm...  just a song.  kinda melancholy n shit, considering it finishes off this big happy baskin-in-the-light-of-joy-and-hope album.  similar to i see the devil, this would make an extra lousy show closer.  worse, in fact, than i see the devil.

beats are all over the place, but thats to be expected when workin with a hodge-podge of producers.

god, i miss mike e clark.  i pine for the return of mike e clark.

the softy shit, like ok, the world is yours, etc...  its mostly catchy.  nothin at all that ill be including in any mixes, but it is catchy, i gotta give em that.

lil spookys singing, all in all, is noticeably less irritating than on lost.  still plenty irritating, though.  if icp aint gonna have legz around, they should keep using otis, i spose, but i hope they dial it way, way, waaay the fuck back.

short version:  album aint that great.  about a 6.0 or 6.5/10.

highlights:  the midway, get clowned, lost at the carnival, im sweet.

lowlights:  everything else.

i have to wonder if they sat down at some point and said, 'lets do the opposite of what scruffy is hopin for.  first and foremost, no mike clark.  no legz, either, while were at it.  then, we work with a mob of producers, so that the albums have inconsistency and overlap, all at the same time.  and we can base the whole concept on the idea that the faithless are automatically fucked, and the faithful are automatically squared away.  ohh, we can bring in otis, since hes always hangin around anyway, and have him on every other song... singing on every other song.'

'we can even do some country shit, to really make sure he gets the point.'

im only half-jokin.

  awfully paranoid, arent you?

They DID have the aforementioned "Fuck Scruffy Hee~Hee" meeting. I was hiding in The Lotus Pod Studio bathroom.

But I can say that I slam dunked the prediction to your review, like down to every track you enjoyed and disliked. I am officially in your head now, hiding like I was in The Lotus Pod Studio bathroom.

I am glad that you were man enough to admit, at least, that the happyfriendlyshit was catchy. I cant get enough of them, for some reason. And I hate Hollywood musicals, too, so who knows.

Here is a nutscratcher for ya: If you had to choose between Found , Lost and Shangri-La, which would you choose? Choosing one would permanently erase the others from history, by the way.

i woulda just picked one offhand, but the underlined part makes me not want to waste an opportunity.

probably found.  yeah, found, i guess;  thats the one thats got the most material i wouldnt want to have missed out on.  its also got stuff im not plannin to bump again, but thats an easy problem to solve.

thinkin on it...  from the historical perspective, id have to preserve shangrila.  bein what it is, a big part of juggalo history would be erased.

yea I would have to pick Shangi-La without hesitation.  The whole Juggalo world would be different without it.  But we weren't all that different before lost/found came out.

So i guess most people like found more huh. If i would have guessed it would be the other way around. Kinda trippy. I think i like listening to lost more. Not sure. I have a more unemotional attachment to lost i think. Found the song is great. Its probably going to be one of my favorite songs ever. Same with Time. I try to imagine some of the stuff from found live and its crazy. Get clowned would be sick drom then on it gets fuzzy. Midway and lost at the carnival are just fun stuff. Its weird how they find those songs positive so i know its just good fun for us. I think most if bot all of lost would sound awesome live. I pretty much stayed away from this thread. I actually didnt really read it. Just parts here and there guess it doesnt matter to me cuz the missing link is special to me so i was like whats the point.

Ive been listening to both on random and its pretty cool. Great jokers card. Loved it. Least favorite song i guess is pineapple pizza. I do like the chorus its cool. But really liked the Missing link.

Damn, I really like this album.  The parts I dislike are the carney announcer thing they keep putting on albums.

I like two different aspects of this album.  First, it doesn't seem to really fit into any particular mold.  There are definitely songs that sound a lot like BPB or TMDP (Get Clowned), but still are pretty fresh.  Second, I like the last few songs on the album.  It feels almost like an extended version of "Pass Me By"; the song "found" also fits into this theme too.

Pass Me By has always been one of my favorite songs.  It has an unmistakable vibe.  This album takes me back to those days.  I don't know really how to describe it other than an endorphin crash.  Those types of songs have secretly been some of my favorites.

The album closes out perfectly with "Time."  If you mixed this track into a playlist, there's no way a non-ICP fan could pick it out as ICP.  Just a really good track on all fronts.

Remember waaaaayyyyyyy back when I said that Yeezus was going to change the rap game and every other rapper out there was going to try and imitate that production style?

Lost. Lost is ICP Yeezus.

Stand outs; Falling Apart, Shock, Vomit

Worst shit; I'll Keep My Hatchet, Neighbors Are Fighting, Explosions

Found. Found is ICP christian pop album.

Stand outs; Lost At The Carnival, The Midway, I Fucked A Cop

Worst Shit; Mr. White Suit, Pineapple Pizza, Juggalo Party

The fucked up part is I gave that one dude so much shit but he was absolutely right. The mix/master fell short on this whole project. This shit grates on my fucking ears. Compared to their peers, Twiztid, this is absolutely trash in the sound quality department. Like, Twiztid had that one skit where the vocals clipped at the end. That was bullshit. But the whole album sounded good, it was mixed and mastered very very very well. Thank you Joe Strange. These two projects, no. Okay, Young Wicked is a good producer, he's a good rapper and he can sing slightly better than mediocre at best, but I believe this has something to do with his engineering. Quit Young Wicked, just quit engineering. Jim Kissling, go fuck yourself. Your mastering job sucked. The EQ is shit. Quality control. And more comparison to Twiztid for the sake of competition. Okay, Twiztid did one project this year. It was only 11 songs. Including the 3 extra songs that most people didn't actually own on CD so it's 14 songs. 14 isn't bad, it's an average hip hop album. The Skits didn't suck, they set the tone for the album but they were also misleading the listener into thinking there is more music than there actually is. Over all I enjoyed every song except for the remix and the intro song which didn't suck, it just doesn't have much replay value. That's 12 (or 10) great songs that I really enjoy from Twiztid this year. ICP has 26 songs this year. (Plus the outtakes) I only really find myself listening to two of those songs. Falling Apart is phenomenal. That's it. So, Twiztid has triumphed over ICP this year. Quality over quantity. Tech N9ne destroys them both with Special Effects alone. AND he's got a collabos album on it's way. Then there is To Pimp A Butterfly.

ICP, step it up. Kendrick Lamar and Tech N9ne and Twiztid and Lupe Fiasco have all put you to shame.

Is it safe to say that ICP became exactly what they'd joke about becoming back in the day? This isn't wicked shit. This is Justin Bieber juggalo edition.

Damn scruff, you don't like shit anymore lol. You did give justice with a review though so kudos. I thought Found was their best in many years.

In regards to the "get god or fuck you" theme you bring up (not to re-hash old opinions) they have kinda been saying that shit for a long ass time. Maybe not as blatantly as they are now, but I always saw it as an underlying theme as far back as Milenko.

Damn scruff, you don't like shit anymore lol. You did give justice with a review though so kudos. I thought Found was their best in many years.

house of wax was the nuts.

im definitely not gonna slam anybody for diggin these albums.  the problems i have with em, are the problems i have, not problems icp or juggalos have.

In regards to the "get god or fuck you" theme you bring up (not to re-hash old opinions) they have kinda been saying that shit for a long ass time. Maybe not as blatantly as they are now, but I always saw it as an underlying theme as far back as Milenko.

sure, kinda.

but before it was much closer to 'get god like we did' or 'wed like to see you get god', than 'get god or you aint shit'.  the links are more the latter.

more than that, though, my big hangup is not havin mike clark.  and legz.

its like havin a new tmnt movie come out, only raphael and splinter have been replaced by five mousers.

  awfully paranoid, arent you?

They say pretty clear that get god or u aint shit but then in interviews they say the link is to have faith. Faith in anything just have faith. If u have faith i think it takes the weight of ur shoulders and back so u can have thr space love and freedom to live a happy life.

But i can absolutely see how that can turn alot of people off. Even alienate a good portion of juggalos.

YOU KNOW THEY AINT NO SUCH THING AS LEFTOVER CRACK!!!- Leftover Crack

I don't hear "if you ain't got god you aint shit" at all on the album. I don't see where that comes from. They talk about faith but if you listen to the samples that are on phantom one of the guys that sounds almost exactly like the guy on the album proper talking about god is talking about nature and how he recovered from a serious injury with no meds or doctors or anything. "mother nature healed me". They don't really talk about living proper or being devout. Even OK (which is actually my favorite on the album) is on some "be good to yourself" shit.

OK kinda fucked me up. I had a real bad depression spell and the hook was just healing. "One day, we'll all be OK". Like I love that they acknowledge that so many of us are hurting and they acknowledge that they're in the same boat but that somewhere down the line we'll all be free of this shit that ways down on us.

I think when they talk about the devil and when they talk about evil on LOST they just mean people who are so full of hate and selfishness etc. They're so fucked up, they're like the devil.

I think Mr. Whitesuit is meant to be the link himself, not "god". That's why the album is white. And if you think about the idea that you gotta have "your link" (whatever that is) then the world changes the way they describe. Like walking down the street and instead of some hard ass hood shit turns into this bumpin party shit.

They're just talking about shit like "the secret" and PMA and anything that helps you change how you look at the world. I really wish they would have made a closer song that was about the juggalo family being their link but they missed that chance.

I don't really feel found. It's decent but I don't love it.

Nice analysis, Rob.  Thank you.

I agree for the most part.  Except the fact that the title tracks of each album specifically and explicitly say "God" and reference all negativity as absence of said God.

Where do they mention god in lost? they talk about hell, but I don't think I ever heard them say you need to believe in god to be a good person, ever. In found, when they mention god, they say that god gave them the blessings that have led to their successes.

They specifically say find WHATEVER it is that's missing from your heart in lost and then shaggy says WHATEVER was missing ain't missing now. To them it's their personal idea of God for them but that for us it could be anything.

I really like that they named it the marvelous missing link because the word link makes me think of my own religious views which state that we're all connected. I think of what links me to other people.

Your link is up to you to find but they found theirs in whatever religious views they have. We've -always- known this and any time they say it outright people accuse them of trying to be all uber christian but they never say the one thing that all forms of Christianity believe: Jesus is the son of God who was sent as a sacrifice for our sins and without accepting that sacrifice you are sentenced to hell for ever. They don't eschew any sins and are "guilty" of nearly all of them.

Quite frankly, if they were trying to promote mainstream christianity, the mainstream christian world would freak the fuck out.

And I mean, compare any of their lyrics to POD:

You had no idea that Christians could be so hard core
We'll keep you flowing to the rhythm seeking more and more
Can you deal with it? Cuz this is real kid
You must be one in a mil if you can't feel it
How could you feel it boy if you don't move
How could you say you feel it if you don't groove
Just let your spirit go and keep going
Don't even try to stop this flow, it keeps coming
I see you there, you think you're really tough
But if you got soul you're rockin and ready to burst
Go with the flow and let yourself go
Gods running the show He's got control of my soul

That was a random song I clicked on when I googled their lyrics.

They even put out a song that is just a psalm.
