I know we bitch about MEC’s beat selections at times, But, you can’t deny his ability to produce a solid cohesive album. My main gripe, as with a lot of people about this album, is it really sounds ameturish sonically. These songs sound like a kid off of sound-cloud created them. What people fail to understand is the difference between a Producer and someone who just mashes random noises together. J and Shaggs lyrics are on point but no one was really telling them ” Hey you might wanna re-do that last line.”. Or put a bridge here and really structure a song. Worst hooks ever on a jokers card..they really phoned it in. Its like a ICP vs DJ Snake record. What happened from House of Wax to this? The title track is really unbearable. Flamethrower, Intro and Apocalypse are above average at best…
Yea dude you nailed it right on the head. My gripe with MEC is the style of beats he produces nothing like the old days. Strings, pianos, hard hitting guitars, that’s all missing. All his guitars are soft sounding. But that man can construct a song really well. I am with you 100% on this. people can say what they wnat about Mike P but Mike P can construct songs also (hells pit and shangrila) were constructed very well.

See this is how I feel about MDP, BPB, AND LOST.
MDP / BPB – Very well constructed songs, mixing was insanely good (as usual with MEC), and the album’s just felt like they told a story sonically. My only gripe with MEC are the beats fucking suck.
Lost – Beats aren’t constructed very well. Sounds are atleast better than MEC’s. Choruses are horrible it’s pretty bad when young wicked writes better choruses than you when your 20+ years in the game. the MIXING sucks on here. I don’t know if it’s the bitrate or what, but some of the shit on here is hard to hear what they are saying (not all of the cd) but you can def hear the difference. Between a MEC mixing job and a psy mixing job.
So those are my notes. Even if Mec didn’t do the beats, they should of atleast paid the guy to mix/master this shit. It would of sounded so much cleaner, and probably better.

Flamethrower, Intro and Apocalypse are above average at best…Sounded solid and cohesive to me. Some people like to nit-pick everything apart and that’s fine but for me, as long as I can relate to it and it doesn’t sound absolutely terrible I’m good with it. I personally found House of Wax to be mostly blah, with a couple good songs and a couple really, really bad songs.
Just out of curiosity, what songs on the EP did u find really, really bad?

Well, I mean, it is a fucking leak and not CD quality sound. Basic reason why you shouldn’t get leaks, they could ultimately be unfinished and most definitely won’t be CD quality. Plus, it’s highly disrespectful to the person that worked their ass of to create this art that you are STEALING before it’s even supposed to come out then have the nerve to critique the stolen property that you disrespectfully gained prior to the date you were supposed to hear it as if you are entitled to it.
Any actual artist that has ever worked hard to create something should understand the disgust.

Just joined the forum after listening to the new album. I’ve been a fan since 1997 around the Milenko era and kind of drifted off after Shangri-La. I got curious and started somewhat following again before Death Pop dropped.
Anyways, my opinion on Missing Link is mixed. I believe that this is by far the best QUALITY sound that they’ve had even if it doesn’t fit their character like Riddlebox or Milenko did. The problem I think is that this diversity of sound came a little too late. I sat on a dark room with my eyes closed and paid really close attention to the lyrics. I felt like their subject matter has really dried up from so many years of being in the game and it translated. It felt like they watched CNN for two years, wrote down all of the murder stories, and made songs about it. Where was the carnival? Where was the clown persona? Where was Violent J’s “voice”?
Overall 8/10 in my opinion. Great production but doesn’t fit the character ICP brings to the table and the carnival felt absent. Hopefully they’ll tighten up with “Found”.

For people who bitch about the MANY of us that downloaded this album and past albums. It’s 2015 bruh, alot of shit is pirated. Get with it. I always download shit to see if I like it. Just like the new yelawolf for example and rittz, I downloaded them and purchased a hard copy and itunes copy. Because I felt like they deserved the money. Why would I purchase this album? Who cares if they get butthurt that i’m picking apart there album. They’re the ones reaching into all the “juggalos” pockets out there. When you’ve been a fan since for the past 15 years and you know the quality of music they are capable of producing, you would be picky too.
Times change, I get that but ever since this new deck they have just been floating around with musical ideas so much that there doing too much on one cd. Go back and listen to the 1st deck. One thing I can say is sonically those albums were in place. They fit the mood of the album, the sound selection was stellar and the topic matter was there because of it.
Honestly, after hearing MEC produce, and seven and whoever else touched this album. I don’t even think it’s any of the producers fault to be honest. I think it’s just telling them the sound he wants to achieve and the producers going with it. I’m not saying this album is garbage cause it’s not. I can def bump it and enjoy it for what it is, but to call this a jokers card or bpb or mdp a jokers card is an understatement.
People always say “J’s been rapping for 20 years what else does he have to talk about?” The mans always got something to talk about, he’s a great story teller by far he’s a genious when it comes to that. It’s the amount of time they put into a project and the musical ideas I do not appreciate. I’d like to know what ICP was thinkign when they thought this sounded like a jokers card. or the other 2 for that matter also. I’m not the only one thinking the same thing, there’s been alot of people on this board and other sites agreeing with me. It’s the fans that dip into there wallet that go out and buy every single thing they put out and think it’s dope regardless. Let icp not even hit the billboard and do shitty as fuck on the sales for this album and I guarantee you they step it up and will bring you something that just shocks you. They have such a widespread fanbase that every single album they put out will do good on sales just because JUGGALOS buy anything with there name on it.
You can’t tell me they’ve made this whole new deck in love for the juggalos or for the juggalos. Cause it’s not. There’s no hunger there anymore, nothing to prove. I honestly rather them just finish this deck off and just call it quits.

It’s called an opinion. I’m not stating these are facts at all. Most of the fanbase these days are people that started listening during the 6th or after anyways so none of em would understand. Alot of old school Juggalos would know exactly what i’m talking about.
I been listing since Bizaar I know old schools who like new stuff

I can agree with some points and disagree with others. I’m totally fine with them saying these albums are another deck and I think it’s pretty cool that they are doing another. I was only around from the 5th to the 6th on the OG deck but I still had a lot of fun with the story they were telling and I think it’s cool that the new or younger generation can go through it too. I do miss all the subliminal hints, reverse messages and all that fun stuff that was littered throughout, but then again maybe it’s not totally needed since I guess they are kind of telling the same story again. I dunno, late night rant, opinions, blah.

It’s not the fact that you downloaded it, it’s the fact that you downloaded a possibly unfinished project that isn’t even supposed to be heard yet then bitched about how the audio quality is.
If you are going to steal, then you really really really have no right to bitch about how the audio is or anything really because you wasted no money to get it. Plus, don’t expect mind blowing sound quality from downloads.
A lot of the money that they make off of what you steal is going to making sure that you can listen to it with out being labeled a gang member or going out to feeding homeless people or going towards a huge festival they hold just to entertain you. It’s very ungrateful to steal an album before you were supposed to hear it then bitch about it’s audio not sounding right. You’re not even supposed to be hearing it at all.
If you’re going to steal an album don’t proclaim it to the world either. It’s like, “Hey, ICP, I’m a big fan of yours. I stole your album and it sucks.” Wow, you sure are such a good fan. No, go ahead, they totally owe you for the $0.00 that you paid for that album before it was even released.
