I wish they went with a 90’s approach on music for something. Wether it was an icp album, solo, or even a lotus album. I’d be happy as fuck. Just one album with a 90’s approach is all i’m asking. When you wonder what i’m saying about “90s approach” I mean taking everything they used from riddlebox, milenko, ajb and all that.

and for the record, the is no formal musical method analogous to ‘the 90s approach’, so even if they did try to do an album specifically to appease you, it still wouldnt work. .

For real, and even if they knew exactly what 90s approach meant, and followed it to a t, it still wouldn’t be what you want because it isn’t the old shit.

it’s all good, it just gets tiring hearing the same complaints over and over again and you know as well as we do that “it should sound like the old shit” is literally all anybody ever complains about. There were people who complained about milenko not sounding like ringmaster and coc, there were people who complained about ajb and the wraith not sounding like riddlebox and milenko, and ever since the sixth it’s always been “sound like the original six again” even though theres no set sound for the original six. And assuming you’ve been around as long or longer than me, you know it ain’t never gonna happen. It simply can’t happen. If they tried to make it happen, it wouldn’t work because they aren’t the same people they were 25 years ago and neither are you and I.

It’s hard to explain that’s the thing i’m trying to say. I don’t want them to make the exact same sounding beats but why couldn’t they use those formulas and apply it to the new cards? For example, confederate flag, in your face, etc. Stuff like that. To me, personally each “card” they release they will do 3-4 songs on a cd that sound “old school”

I’d like for them to just take everything from the first cd and just combine it into 1, not mess with new styles outside of what they used to do great with. If that makes any sense.

cuz there is no ‘formula’, that is something you made up.  it has nothin to do with how they recorded, then or today.

nope.  specially not the first part.

for the second part…  if they had done that, then all their shit woulda sounded like carnival of carnage [or worse], and theyd have vanished long ago.

Dude I know what yoursayin, and I agree with you a 100%.  Its like a tease, when they do those 3-4 old school joints on the new shit and you hear the other super staleness and your like DAMN IT!!!!  Why couldn’t you just make the other songs (Insert any new album) like the other old school ones??  I get it, trust me dude I fuckin get it!  I internally bitch about that all the damn time.  You just have to accept what they put out and roll with the punches.  They also know that Juggalos love the “other goofy songs, that apparently we don’t like” so there’s that.  Gotta remember these dudes are pushing mid 40’s, everything changed.  Look how ICP used to act in interviews back in ’96-’97, and interviews of today completely different.  Just like their music.

Example:  Flamethrower………I want every new ICP song to have that same vibe.  Not sound/beat….vibe.  When I first heard that fuckin joint I wanted to slam my face through my coffee table it was FRESH.  I was like THIS….FUCKING THIS!!!!!!!!!  haha.  I was just like YES….they still have “it”!  It was just so nice to hear, Ill say.

agreed about Flamethrower. So, so good, and a highlight of this era.

And whoever didn’t love The Mud, Water Air and Blood?? Damn, son lol! That shit is fucking beyond dope. The only time Dark Lotus ever faltered for me was a few spots on Black Rain. That was due to rushing the project, I believe. Still has good stuff in there.

None of the DL albums are perfect, but if you were to take the best of all four albums and the scattered bsides here and there, and put them into one double-album or so… man, oh man.

a lotus best-of would be awfully close to the perfect album.

five-petal versions of whatever songs are on it, of course.

Hey dude, would it surprise you that people have been saying the exact same shit you’re saying about their music now since 2001? It’s 2016 and they’re still doing the exact same shit they’ve been doing since 1991.

A true fan will sit back, let the creators create and just enjoy the ride.

If you know whats dope you should make it yourself and quit fuckin judging every fuckin body else! (Can you name the track this reference is from???)

Also, ICP’s music is fine and last year was great for them.

Violent J has specifically said at at Gathering seminarthat the new shit is going to sound like the new shit. Only the old shit will sound like the old shit…
Also… those “3-4 songs” that speak on older topics still sound like new ICP, just speaking on older topics. They’re still coming up with new shit. They still kill bigots and richies but can’t they come up with new concepts? They are and it’s dope.
They don’t talk about killing fags anymore either…. Well… They’ve really cut back on the references… Which is ok in my mind.
I haven’t heard very much of them eating dead bodies anymore either.

One more thing…
Flamethrower to me sounds like the epitome of what “new” ICP is. It doesn’t sound like the old shit at all in my opinion.
Still fresh though.
I don’t like biker gangs either. cool

nope, not the only.

verses are all right…  but the beat is hack, and the choruses are butt.

kinda sums up all of lost, in a sentence.

100% agree! I’ve even put lost in a couple times over the last week to give it another chance because its been a while and I’m still just not feeling it. They hyped it up so much as the dark/wicked shit everyone was waiting for but to me its just not.

flamethrower was shit lol. J always hypes up shit and says “it sounds like the old shit” for every cd. None of it ever does. It’s his way of marketing a new cd. Found was better than lost, but still wouldn’t call it a card. They have no direction with there beats anymore, it just all sounds fucking random. Which was one good thing about Mec he gave them a direction where it all was put together well.

Lost and found sound like ep’s more than anything.

It’s definitely one of the best albums ever put out on PSY. No one can argue with that, and if you do, you need to re listen to it. Absolutely amazing from start to finish.

Like “45 Minutes”, the song “Flamethrower” is best played after exactly three alcoholic beverages, and after having blazed up some good chronic, and the volume very loud but not ear-splitting.

I may have been one of the few that liked Lost in fact I prefer Lost over Found. The biggest weakness Lost has though is the chorus’s.the only tracks I skip are Neighbors are Fighting and Shock. Infact I think Shock is the worst track. Js rapping just doesn’t go well together with the beat.
