my suburb consists of Aboriginals, islanders(of any variety,cook, mauldi, samaon etc), indians, africans and waaay down the bottom we have white people.

77.7% of America is white. Only 13.2% of America is black. So white people are the majority while black people are a minority. No argument. Done. Completely in regards to the race war too, saying that me switching teams will mean I’m out numbered.

if the shit hit the fan, and this “race war” really did pop off, i don’t know what i would do… being a very white (a little redneck even) man, i would most likely be targeted by any blacks participating in such activities, so the logical answer would be that i would end up having to raise my white flag (not in surrender XD), but there is NO WAY i’m going to stand and fight next to a Klansman or some Neo-Nazi shit stain, and we all know that if shit did pop off they would be coming out of the fucking woodwork like cockroaches

How that wasn’t obvious (especially considering I freakin’ said so), I have no idea. Hehehe.
Although, there’s a modicum of truth to my shit-stirring. Once I’m able to write it out well enough, I’ll do so.
EDIT: Allow me to rephrase… “modicum of truth” isn’t really what I meant. Rather intended to point out that the “white male minority” idea is a concept that’s growing rather quickly – a quick google search shows that much.

Alright… Now, first of all, the most official statistic supporting the “white male minority” concept: The US Census projects that, by the year 2050, “Non-Hispanic Whites” will make up 42.6% of the US population – down from the current figure of 63.7%. So, if you split the pie into two groups, an “us vs them” chart if you will, they will – truthfully and statistically – be the minority. If you include all race groups into the pie separately, the idea holds less water, as they’ll still be the single largest demographic.
However, I have a couple qualms with the way that data is presented. First of all, the “Non-Hispanic Whites” category includes Middle Easterners – which I would argue are a separate demographic, no different than Hispanics, African Americans, or Asian Americans. So, let’s do the math here. The 2010 Census shows 1,698,570 Arab Americans in the US, out of the total 196,817,552 in the “Non-Hispanic White” category. Subtract them, and you get 195,118,982 – which changes the percentage from 63.7% to 63.2%. Okay… So not exactly the change I expected to see. So qualm #1 is irrelevant. Qualm #2 is the fact that those numbers include both male and female. If you remember, the concept is the “White male minority”. So… We’ll remove women from that figure. In 2010’s Census, 48.5% of all citizens were male.
So… That means 94,632,706 citizens in the year 2010 were “Non-Hispanic White”, Non-Arab-American, and male… Making up 48.08% of the population.
48% is less than 51%. Making the white male a minority.
Math is almost as fun as baiting people… ;)

‘white-male minority’ is a political concept. as such, it was never meant to be taken as strictly literal.
its ultimately a tongue-in-cheek joke. the idea being that even after adding two more categories [‘male’ and non-hispanic’, which to me is like saying ‘non-catholic’, or ‘non-vegetarian’], there still is no minority.
what it is, is that some feel that the ‘white mans way’ [which, by the way, america, was doa at the start of the 20th century] has been somewhat marginalized. like 8-tracks.

Majority-minority relations is always more about who holds the power more than it is about sheer numbers. This is why I feel socioeconomic boundaries are even more significant than racial or gender boundaries.

dont forget personal/gender identity, i think we covered that too. i assume that is a touchy subject. the funny thing it that even though we have covered all these ‘taboo’ subjects andpeople seem to have VERY polarizing views in regards, it has been kept quite civil tongued. theres been no slinging of poop. this is my kind of argument!

I don’t remember seeing gender identity but I very well might have skimmed over it. There’s a lot of info to really soak in here and I haven’t given it the proper time. With that said, here I go chiming in because, yeah, it seems to be nothing more than “I really disagree with you and here’s why” and that’s fucking awesome.
The only thing that bothers me with gender identity is that it gets lumped in with lesbian, gay and bisexual issues too often. I guess trans people do have to face those issues but do they have to face them as a trans person or as a straight, lesbian, gay, or bisexual person? Being transsexual and/or transgender has nothing to do with sexual preference.
Someone’s gender is a completely different conversation that needs to be had. Because we’ve established as a society that every damned thing has to have a label, we really need to define what it really means to be a man or woman. Genitals aren’t the only thing involved in that and I think it’s much more complex than what lumping it in with sexual preference gives it credit for. I’m friends with someone who was born a female but is transitioning into a male, and identifies as a male and I treat them as such. He’s just another dude to me. I also know someone (not a friend. She’s a terrible fucking person but not because of this) who was born a male but is transitioning into a female, and identifies as a female and I treat them as such. She’s just a chick to me. It’s easy for me to see someone by what gender they see themselves as but are they really that gender? On a biological level they’re not but in a cultural way, are they? If they’re not, at what point do they become that gender? I mean, what does it really mean to be a male or female?
To me that’s a much more interesting question than “should gay people get married?”. Fucking of course they should and I have yet to hear a valid reason why they shouldn’t. It’s a no-brainer that will be a non issue within fifteen years.

you seem pretty confident in your estimation of 15 years. i disagree, sadly. i support gay marriage whole heartedly, hell if you wanna chain yourself to someone forever, you obviously are gunna be around them regardless of marriage so just fucking let them. but i don’t think alot of people understand that line of thnking. i think that while the church still has some control over the masses (granted its not as much as the victorian era) gay marriage will never truly come to pass. religion is just too heavily ingrained that males must be paired with females.
personally i dont get the whole LGBT thing. i just cant understand it, and two guys making out personally creeps me the fuck out. hell im even off lesbian porn these days. but in saying that, as long as my dick isnt involved it shouldnt be my concern. and i dont make it that way. i try to treat all people equally, because at the end of the day the only people who should be concerned with their sexual preferences is them and the people they are coupling with (i say coupling because well having sex with may not be certainly correct in some cases).
I CAN understand why transgender falls into the LGBT scene, as you said, they face alot of the same prejudices as the gays and lesbians. Yes if you a re born a man, biologically you are a man, but i think mentally (not the word i was looking for but i cannot think of anythign else atm) that if you truly believe your a woman it would be very disjointing to wake up and look into a mans face every morning.
@robtidwell – has been super cool with me asking some really awkward questions about LGBT related things, i dont think im ever going to be 100% comfortable around same sex couples, but i want to expand my horizons and understand it better. i think alot of people would benefit from learning about it.
I also wonder about race identity aswell. lucem made a offhanded (im assuming his own personal brand of humor) comment about him being black inside. it got me thinking, that why couldnt this be a case aswell? i mean its not a choice to be gay (etc) is it? and its not like you can choose the colour of your skin. personally ive always considered myself part asian hahaha, as i have always associated better with asian culture than western. but in saying that i dont feel im trapped in the wrong skin.
i would continue, but my dog wants to be walked and wont shut up.

What if I decide I want to be a dog? What if I decide I want to be liquid rather than solid? It’s another one of those questions of where can you draw the line? Just like if people are born gay they could also be born pedophiles, right?
When I go in to the taboo I go deep in to the taboo and hard. So hard and deep into the taboo that the taboo will never forget when I was in it.
