Im sure the backstory of TML is going to be told in the booklet that comes with the CD.

That’s cool and all, but that was definitely never as “needed” before as it is for TML.

What are you talking about? “As needed”?

You usually get the concept of each joker’s card by listening to the album. That’s what he meant.

Okay, all I’ve heard was Vomit, Confederate Flag, and a little bit of Shock…I’m still very fucking excited. I’m getting it still Tuesday. I finally came to the conclusion, I’m not listening to ANY ICP until then. I’ve been listening to Primus a lot, that’s a fucking awesome band, then, comes time to get the new album on Tuesday, I’ll prolly forget what they sounded like, and it’s gonna be fucking awesome listening to that whole album front to back. I can’t fucking wait!

Also also, Primus is fucking awesome, I’ll prolly get Pork Soda while I’m at it.

And maybe The Darkness. Anyone here listen to The Darkness, and think it’s good? I’ve heard Boogieman, A Little Fucked Up, and Back To Hell, they seemed pretty good.

I’ll prolly pick it up. I got A New Nightmare, and I like the new sound. I heard some people say they didn’t, but then again, they also said they didn’t ICP’s new sound, which is clearly wrong. So I’m just gonna get it, and hear for myself (and enjoy the fuck out of it). Shit, imma pop in A New Nightmare now…

Well the album might make more sense after reading the back story first. The problem here is all these people have pirated this album before it has even been released. Would Ringmaster have made much sense without the booklet that told the backstory?

It can be argued it’d still make more sense without it than TMML does.

Yes.

But I can’t really say if there really is a difference between the two albums for I have not heard this new one yet.

Alright so I’ve heard the album through a few times now. While there are some definite good things to say about the album, I still stand by my initial thought that they went way too overboard on the dirty south Paul Wall/Three 6 Mafia sound. Sounds more like a Killjoy Club album than an ICP album, much less a Joker’s Card. I actually laughed out loud when I thought about the fact that some of the album is kind of like the crunk part of “Radio Stars” but they are actually serious this time.

If I had to put my finger on something that is the real “issue” with this album, it’s that it just does not feel like a Joker’s Card at all. On each of the first 6 Joker’s Cards, there really seemed to be an entity and a mythological background and story to the Joker Card himself. Aside from the intro of the album, there’s basically no reference to what the hell The Marvelous Missing Link really is, and the presence just isn’t felt. BPB and MDP had a similar issue, but to a way lesser extent than MML. Who knows, maybe those of us who aren’t totally feeling the album may have had an easier time digesting it if it wasn’t labeled as a Joker’s Card and was a Bizaar/Bizzar type of situation? I hope this whole paragraph has made some sort of sense.

Again though, definitely not all negative things to say. I respect any band/musician/rapper/whatever that has a long career and isn’t afraid to broaden their horizons. “Confederate Flag” and “Flamethrower” are total bangers in my opinion. I take it that the very, very end of “I See The Devil” is a glimpse into “Found”. That should be interesting to see where they take that.

P.S. The only thing that really made me laugh on this album is Shaggy’s line from “Confederate Flag”  which goes “Stick your fuckin flag pole right up your fag hole” hahah, gold Jerry, gold.

“fuck my father I wanna slaughter thee” was pretty bad too lol but yeah the fag hole line just reminded me of “Slow Your Roll” tbh

I think one thing that could really benefit ICP’s music is going back into “hiding” to work on the next Jokers card like they did in the old days. I feel like they’re way too busy and in the public eye now and it takes away from the effort it takes to make a classic album.

PS: I remember being in 8th grade on the Mirror Mirror tour and being in the front of the stage before the 6th. ICP had been in hiding for months and when I looked under the curtain, they were there talking to some security backstage and everybody was freaking out when I told the people around me Shaggy grew really long red hair and J slimmed up. The fresh ass good old days.

Psychopathic hyped the purple gang album more than this card. Hearing that Otis from amb did most of the tracks and sings all over it  doesn’t get me very excited and I haven’t heard j once say ” this is the best work we’ve ever done ” what is happening. I got into them in 97 and Bpb n mdp were pretty great albums considering how long they’ve been doing this. I don’t even try to compare them to the first six cause it’s pointless. I was 12 when milenko come out. Now I’m 30. I can’t even try to compare them.  But it makes me sad what’s happening with them. I guess it’s inevitable

Yea dude I remember that. I remember they were at the green book tour with bone thugs behind the curtain and someone seen ICP and everyone started chantin ICP ICP ICP ICP. they never came out but everybody was freaking out, now it’s like there everywhere. This is what I miss the most about ICP, that and how they used to hype shit up and it would actually sound like a psychopathic cd. They switched up there style so much. But I truly do miss the old days so much I had a blast at shows and now it’s kinda just like eh here to see icp then when they get on you see em and you’re like meh that was okay. The old days was where it was at! Best tours to me was diamonds raining pretour (right before shangrila) shangrila tour, hells pit tour, green book tour and the tour with esham and “colton grundy” one of my faves. Esham was drunk as fuck staggering all over the place forgetting lines, funny as fuck.

The Hatchet Rising tour. There was an insane amount of hype going into that tour because it had the whole roster and lead up to the unveiling at The Gathering. Easily the most exciting time I can remember in juggalo history.

I gotta say…

Ya’ll sound like a bunch of old bitches.

Being an “old” bitch myself (over 30), a bunch of you talk like yer fuckin’ Methuselahs incapable of change or enjoying the new.

Why not just start your posts with, “In my day” dot dot dot…

Tell us some more about how many inches of snow you had to walk through to school and about when music “used to mean something”.

Either you iz or you ain’t.  Move the fuck on and enjoy the evolution.

I haven’t listened to the new album yet. I paid for it first day of the pre-order. I’m gonna wait to listen to it until I get what I PAID for. Your little downloads are all COMPRESSED AUDIO in shitty MP3 format with half the mids and subs missing. I’m gonna give it the chance it deserves in CD form in FULL effect.

You all sound like you’re looking for an excuse not to like ICP or Psychopathic anymore. Seems to me like you’re all just waiting for validation for the impulse to walk out on your Juggalo homies that raised you up. You got opinions about how the new shit sounds? Cool. But knock it off with all this “back in the day” bullshit. Like Shaggy said in the last Juggalo Show, everyone saying “You should make another Milenko or Riddlebox…” That album was already made. Get the fuck over it.

Love it or leave it, muthafackos… and make sure you drop that cash on the dresser on your way out.

I didn’t like it either, till now. I am drinking though, which doesn’t make it better really.

What I was going to write earlier was the real missing link is Mike E Clark (and Legz), without them it isn’t really a joker’s card… it really doesn’t feel like one.

I actually am looking forward to Found if it does have humour, the 2 songs I actually really liked lately from ICP have been Dickhead and The Kreayshawn Song, don’t know if it’s from getting older but I want to be entertained not hear “wicked shit” I guess.

And ICP’s tweet acknowledging the leak actually made me feel bad enough to nearly buy it…. nearly.

Like ICP said, we’re gonna want another Death Pop later on, or another Missing Link. Hearing this now, I’m not only excited for now, but later on. Always something to look forward to. I’m excited to hear the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and the Post Jokers Card era. Also, excited to see Big Money Thrusters.

And aw man, what did they say in the tweet…

I’m new to this forum, used to belong to the old site, I’m 41 been down forever and I personally think the new CD is great. People don’t like it fine it won’t change my opinion. Feels new and I’m excited again like I was when milenko came out and I would drag friends to their shows. Falling apart to me has to be one of the best I have heard. Pre-ordered two copies and looking forward to the next chapter.
