I remember seeing Jeckel at the record store. Sitting with all the highest selling records in an evil little red jewel case waiting to be bought (stolen). THAT was dope. I don't hate the new age of digital downloads and what not but I pity the kids who don't get to have those little moments that used to occur.
True shit. That sad reality that I'm slowly coming to terms with, the art of listening to an album for the first time as you explore the album art is dying.

You know... it's funny. Back in the day, ICP literally did go mainstream. And that's what everyone seemed to love. Now they actually do everything themselves, the way they want to... for themselves and for juggalos. And that seems to be the stuff you all hate.
Say whatever you want, but it's a fact that Milenko and Jeckel Bros went through a corporate filter, and a marketing team before they were released. Violent J even talked about the meetings they had about changing lyrics.
That is essentially why my favorite albums are Riddlebox, TMDP, Ringmaster, and COC. I feel like Milenko and Jeckel Bros. had a little bit too much corporate polish on them. I know ppl here make fun of the fact that Death Pop ranks so high on my list, but this fact along with the fact that Mike Clark is the shit... puts TMDP above a couple the OG 6 cards.
I don't think what you are saying is justified. You telling me Jeckel Bros. had a corporate filter? Easily the meanest and darkest looking Jokers Card aside from Ringmaster and had song titles like 'Bitches' and 'I Stab People.' Corporate polish? Nah, just corporate push. Also, the Jeckel Bros. era MTV commercial was absolutely incredible. Mythbusted, biotch!
EDIT* Not to mention a song that says the word fuck non-stop for 4 minutes and insults everyone from Oprah to the Dali Llama, lol. What exactly were they not allowed to say? Kurt Co-went bang!

Violent J actually said in an interview how on Island Records, he had lyrics like, "I shot him in the head," and he'd get it sent back to him with a red line through it, and he had to change it to, "Peeled his wig," and shit like that.
I spent about 5 minutes looking for it on youtube, with no luck.
Not to mention lyrics are actually censored on the album. But you won't recall, because Michael Jsueaksan squeezed on some little kids balls.
I heard that interview but in spite of that I still contest that you ain't saying shit. Again, at least as offensive and messed up as any other ICP album if not more so.

In spite of the fact that you heard it straight from ICP's mouth that it is what happened, you still think it's not true?
Look, saying "Fuck" 93 times ain't wicked. Fred Durst did it in a pop metal song. Saying, "I snatch innocent bitches and shake em, and shake em, til they stop moving, I break em. Fuck em, I chuck em, spread em on the wall, splatter, bitches don't matter." That's fucking wicked. They never would have said that shit on a major label.
Ok, ding dong slurper.. ok, that is my favorite line from 'Halloween Head.' That and the laugh after J says '..and I'm a halloween crack fiend, muahha!" Be that as it may!! THEY HAVE A SONG TITLED 'I STAB PEOPLE.' You don't have to agree but at least acknowledge the point I'm making before dismissing it entirely. Jeckel Bros. is that wicked shit. Quit bagging on an album I like, jerkdick!

I think most of the censorship and lyric dispute was with Milenko over at Hollywood. I think they flew more under the radar at
Island or at least they did when they merged with def jam. I'm with @luckynumbrxiii because he has a point. What if those albums
were completely uncensored? I don't think they'd be much more different but it couldn't have been for the worse. Maybe Dead End
would have made it on AJB. Either way both albums are great just very different. Different strokes for different folks. For me it's
hard to compare ICP releases because each is so different from the other. From 1989-present their shit has ALWAYS changed.

My 2¢
I feel these albums have the potential to be great. At current standstill I really am not too concerned with much traditional stuff like
the concept and look of the card; I'm intrigued but more concerned with what everybody else cares about. The sound. I want to see
ICP flex all of their skills. That grim strorytelling mixed right with sadistic humor that'll leave you in awe. This new found lyrical
prowess amplified with the right eerie instrumentals. It's pretty redundant to say this all because I think this is what most of want
but I guess I just realized that doesn't matter. It's what they want. It's always been that way. I think they make their best music
when they're not trying to please anyone. But what the fuck do I know?
post script
I don't care who produces it but I would hope it was just one person.

I agree ^^^^^
This new deck has been happy sounding imo. Sure there's a little bit of anger on some songs and shit but they're soft. To me, these sounds like spin offs of them attempting to keep going in the shangrila direction. The last deck was more darkish and now this one sounds soft, if that makes sense to any of you guys. So i think this is the direction they are going. But, if for some really odd reason they bust out the eerie beats I'd be happy. I think we need more bass too. I noticed alot of the songs are more less 808's in the mix more than anything. If the beats would knock I wouldn't even be so upset. I'm just not hearing anything that's catching my ears these days.
FLH interviews J and all them people at psy.. i'm sure they read this, so wtf is up with them not going back to their roots? I don't need to hear another riddlebox or milenko, but atleast bring back the older styles they had. Even if they brought all those styles into one cd that would be dope. I honestly don't think the juggalo community is anywhere near as big as it was back 01-02 That's when they really blew up

Yeah, now that I think of it, ICP does often censor themselves, maybe they wanted to cut Jacko's name out of it. After all, they cut it out of The Old Shit CD.
He's right, there were four songs that Hollywood censored on Milenko, three, Under the Moon, Boogie Woogie Wu and Neden Game didn't appear at all on the Hollywood version. The fourth was Piggie Pie which had lyrics changed, one verse entirely, and the original version can be heard on one of the Forgotten Freshness CD's (Piggie Pie Old School). I remember when they signed with Island they had it put in the contract that the label would not sensor them on any condition.

Makes total sense just because they're huge MJ marks.

Thanks, but I knew that.

Sorry, I don't have a citation, it was in some article on ICP.com back when they signed to Island. If you recall, there was basically a bidding war among the labels after the Disney debacle so ICP was pretty much able to name their terms. It was a big factor in why they chose Island over a bigger label like Interscope or something. It's your choice if you wanna believe it or not, I really don't care, I was just telling you what I remember.
icp edited, Eshams verse "Newborn babies head I drill" and on Insane Killers "we kill niggas like the KKK" . They said in an on a Forgotten Freshness insert I think, that "Even we have our limits"
No problem with that.
Have you heard the OG Chicken Huntin Edit? Redonks
I'll fuck you till you love me, Faggot!

We got two Twiztid's and and two ICPs and probably a Tech N9ne and a Marilyn Manson.
Tech only got 1 album out this year, surprised that we haven't heard much about Special Effects for a few months now. But maybe people can stop bitching about him releasing too much music now.
And lets not forget Tool after 9 years .. I'm pretty positive this will be the year. I'm tired of Blair speaking his gibberish all over their site.
