DJ Clay does nothing short of providing us with an ear tingling sweet Faygo-drenched party with his new mixtape The Sidewayz Room. I’ve never been into strictly instrumentals, but DJ Clay have done an amazing job at changing my opinion on that. From the opening sequence “What would happen if everyone on the earth jumped at the same time? All 7 billion of em?” you knew this album is gonna go hard as fuck and it definitely doesn’t disappoint. So sit back and come with me on a long and epic journey through The Sidewayz Room.

01. INTRO

While the intro is short (around 25 seconds or so), it does set the pace and prepare you for an earful of epic bass and bad ass instrumentals.

3/5

02. SMOKIN DRONE

Another short track, “Smokin Drone” is around 36 seconds, but it leaves you craving more as it takes you on a journey straight into the next song.

4/5

03. ILLEST

This is probably one of my favorites on the mixtape. As with almost every track, it leaves you wanting more, and the bass drops so hard it makes your brain rattle! Fresh shit for sure.

5/5

04. AIN’T COMIN DOWN

Another hard bangin’ track, the title describes the feeling here. This track makes you feel like you’re so high you ain’t never coming down. And its a great feeling for sure.

5/5

05. TURN UP (PSYCHO MIX)

“I’m kind of a hands on guy” This track does a tremendous job of mixing in Violent J’s vocals together with the bass and creating and anthem and street banger. To be played at maximum volume, “Turn Up” does nothing short of getting your blood pumping.

5/5

06. BE AFRAID 1

Another one of my favorite tracks on the mixtape, “Be Afraid” has a true wicked shit vibe to it. Once again I can’t help but find my head bobbing to this one.

5/5

07. HOES AT MY SHOWS

Not one of my favorite tracks on the album but it certainly doesn’t mean it won’t be yours.  It does a good job of keeping the pace and feel of the rest of the mixtape.

3.5/5

08. SPOOKED

This track seems to slow up slightly from most of the album, but still provides a wicked shit vibe with a bit of a haunted house atmosphere. Not my favorite but still a decent track all the same.

3/5

09. NETWORK

The pace starts picking back up on this one with another instrumental prepared to make your ears bleed from the kick of the bass.

4/5

10. HIGHER

The first thing I thought of when seeing this track was the Creed song “Higher” from back when. Thankfully this is NOT a mash up of this song. This track has more of a futuristic/epic star fight and robot battle fight to it. An instrumental that makes me think of something like that goes straight to top of my list as favorites on the album.

5/5

11. X-FILE

Perhaps a play on words, and perhaps not. I was surprised and pretty excited to hear a legend of the rap game DMX come through strong on what I still think is my favorite track on the entire mixtape. DMX’s vocals mix perfectly with this sci-fi-esq bass-pounding track sure to get you jumpin’ no matter where you are.

5/5

12. MY TRAP STAY BOOMIN’

This track has a slightly different feel from the last few and leads us straight into a club style theme. I foresee a lot of Juggalos getting hype and perhaps some ‘lette ass shakin’ on this one for some reason.

5/5

13. Hypnosis

The title explains it all. If you ain’t careful you may find yourself hypnotized by the build up of this track leading into the next. Another short but sweet instrumental that leaves you wanting more.

5/5

14. WHUSSTLE

This is probably my least favorite track on the album. While the bass still does enough to keep you involved, the addition of the whistling takes away from the track and turns me off to it.

2.5/5

15. PAIR OF DICE

While not really a gambler, this track makes me think of hittin’ up a casino just to see if I can win some of that cold hard cash.  It has a bit of a slower pace but still a good all around track.

4/5

16. MY CITY ON

Usually by this time on most albums, I’ve cut them off but something about this mixtape has me stickin’ around for the long haul and enjoying the ride. This has potential to be a banger and an anthem for anyone to rep their city no matter where you’re from.

5/5

17. UPPERS

While having never been to a strip club myself, this track has me thinking a lot of women would be shakin’ it for all their worth. Another decent track that keeps the pace goin’ and the bass flowin’.

3.5/5

18. COMBO

This track screams Juggalo anthem at the top of its lungs and has me wanting to dust off some rust and try flowin’ again. Another fresh track from a Juggalo who clearly has a passion for making good music.  That can never be denied.

5/5

19. TIPSY PIE (PSYCHO MIX)

Another epic mash up of the Insane Clown Posse song “Cherry Pie (I Need A Freak)” with  bass that takes the classic on a whole new level of epic freshness. This track would be awesome to see live no doubt. Easily another one of my favorites.

5/5

20. NOBODY DOES SHOTS LIKE THIS

Another straight up club banger, this track would go hype at a live show and has the walls in my house rattling every time the bass drops.  Hopefully it doesn’t destroy the foundation!

5/5

21. Legendary

Not a major fan of this track due to the vocals but the beat was upbeat enough to keep me listening to the whole thing.

2.5/5

22. WE DEM TRAP BOYZ

Another instrumental to be played at maximum volume, this track bangs just as hard as the rest of them. So roll those windows down, crank the bass and let em all hear you bangin’ Psychopathic Records. Rep that Hatchetman with pride!

5/5

23. STAND UP

Once you’ve finished that epic car ride through your time, make walk into that house, party, club, wherever and make sure everyone gets off their ass and stands up…cuz this track is another instrumental full of straight fire. At this point on the mixtape my neck’s getting stiff from all the head bouncin’ and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

5/5

24. I BOUNCED A BODY (PSYCHO MIX)

And now we arrive at our final destination.  This is another one of my favorites, if not my absolute favorite track on the entire album. This album closes out with nothing short of an epic, bass boomin’, pulse pounding, anthem of a track with another great mash up of ICP‘s “I Found A Body” bringing it to a new level of creativity and freshness. P.S. Stick around for the whole song…while it seems to be over, it indeed surprises those who leave it going. With some more badass freshness. Trust me, it doesn’t disappoint.

5/5

In conclusion, Seventeen is already starting out as a great year for underground releases! I have to say that DJ Clay never ceases to amaze me with his skill and dedication to not only the music but to the Juggalos as well. He absolutely slaughtered this mixtape and has me amped up for what comes next. Until next time, I’m your friendly neighborhood psychopath The Illusionizt of Masters of the Underground, telling you to keep those hachets swingin’, those diamonds rainin’, and wishing you love and positivity in ’17 and beyond! Catch you down the road!
