First of all I would like to say its good to be home in the album review section of Faygoluvers!  Its been a long time since I posted any reviews and am hoping to provide our fans with a lot of reviews this year!  Now onto my review of the new Madrox album, More Music you don’t wanna here from someone you barely like.

For those who may be new or might not know Madrox background:

Madrox, also known as Jamie Madrox, is best known as the co-founder of Twiztid, the iconic Horror Rap/Nu Rock hybrid formed in 1998. With over 16 full-length albums, 14 EPs, 17 compilations, and countless singles, Twiztid’s catalog continues to evolve and expand.

In 2006, Madrox released his first solo venture, Phatso, along with its alternate version, Phatso: Earth 2. His solo work has also been featured prominently on the Songs of Samhain holiday series, highlighting his unique contributions to the horrorcore genre.

On January 31st, Madrox unveils his second solo album, More Music You Don’t Wanna Hear From Someone You Barely Like. This release showcases his bold creativity, diverse sound, and unwavering commitment to pushing musical boundaries.

Track list and ratings

  1. This Ain’t No Safe Space- Short spoken word intro. Give a small glimpse into the vibe of the forthcoming album. N/A
  2. Man on the Edge- Heavy bass and creative add ins leads the beat in this track. Madrox gives a very deliberate delivery of the lyrics in this track.  His delivery is on point gives way to a catchy hook.  Easily one of the best tracks on the album.  9/10
  3. Frazzled- Another hard hitting but simplistic beat back aggressive lyrics here. There is a slight change up in the beat when the hook kicks is but it works here.  As the second track on this familiar but experimental sounding album works extremely well.  Madrox delivery once again is on point and the top notch production continues here.  9/10
  4. Free Fall- The beat here is a huge change of pace. Much more fast paced but gives way to a slower hook.  Madrox is more singing than rapping here, while some fans have appreciated the chances he and his musical partner, Monoxide, have taken through the years some fans have not.  I enjoy the variety of sounds they have produced and can appreciate the chances they take as artists.  This track is less successful than the previous two but still a solid effort.  7/10
  5. Sunny Always Forever- A much slower and darker track leads the way here. The track discusses humanity as it goes through this thing we call life.  A dark theme here but it fits many people view on the world and their place in it.  It definitely eludes to a battle with depression which many of us deal with daily.  8/10
  6. Fairy Tale- This is the single released before the actual albums release. Slow and melodic music gives way to a driving beat.  This track covers the struggles we have in relationships after the “newness” wears off.  We all want things to remain simple and easy but the reality is life gets hard and there are some things we can never get over.  Grudges get held and relationships end.  This song is a nice reminder we do have those memories that are good to hold onto.  9/10
  7. Am I Allowed 2B Me?- Tempo change again as this one starts. A slow driving beat leads his delivery here.  This track follows the internal battle of being oneself while still fitting in.  Ultimately asking ourselves “Am I allowed to be me?” but in the end being ourselves is the only thing we can be so we embrace being comfortable in our own skin no matter the circumstance.  8/10
  8. Fallin Out The Sky- Heavy bass and hard hitting lyrics round out this track. This track tracks our feelings of floating in the ether of life not knowing if we will achieve success or failure.  The simple beat allows the deep lyrical content room to breathe. 7/10
  9. Rotate- The beat in this track is very old school sounding with scratching and heavy 808s. The lyrics here are once again about finding a path and finding growth.  This is heavily expressed in the in the hook: “I’m tired of feelin tired need to rotate. I need to feel less than to overcompensate. It’s always me against them it’s the same fate. But I’m at the start line for the same race”8/10
  1. Until I Become Dirt- Another simple but effective beat in this one. Slightly more uplifting as the lyrics speak of finding a path and pulling the determination to achieve the goal regardless of the hurdle put in front of us. Catchy hook and solid composition make this enjoyable.  9/10
  2. Don’t Like Me Cause I’m Already- The music kicks off here and throws major 80’s synth vibes. A much more positive vibe here. Song discusses hard times but finding a way to overcome and find happy.  A solid ending to a short but heart filled album.  8/10

Overall Rating: 8.2/10

Total Runtime- 28:41

Conclusion:  Having been a fan of the multiple man, Jaime Madrox, since his introduction in the late 90s with Twiztid I am always interested to see what he pulls out of his vast bag of tricks.  Twiztid as a duo has evolved from old school hard hitting horrorcore to a more melodic metal/rock influenced style.  This album is a huge turn away from his first solo album, Phatso.  Fans of the newer sound and his individual delivery style will appreciate this album.  Fans of his will find something on the album to add to playlists.  This solo effort further cements his position as one of the best artists in the underground today.  I cannot wait to see what he does next!
