Track by track review and rating

  1. One Step At A Time- This track starts off with a mellow beat.  Underrated leads the tracks off letting his quicker flow dance around the beat.  1 Ton hits the second verse with his slower smooth flow.  All the verses are well produced and recorded.  The hook is alright but doesn’t really stand out.  7/10
  2. Lightweight Ft Krizz Kaliko- A much more complex beat in this track.  The verses are all about tolerance to weed.  Krizz Kaliko adds a nice hook to this track.  Another song with slow verses and a sung hook.  8/10
  3. Let’s Take A Ride Ft Rittz- The beat is more what listeners expect from a Potluck track.  Underrated kills the first verse.  Rittz doesn’t disappoint in his verse and 1 Ton holds his own with these two lyrical heavyweights.  The hook is good and works with the track.  9/10
  4. I Could Fuck You Ft Whitney Peyton- They get back to a much slower beat here.  The content is exactly what you would expect from the title.  Whitney Peyton’s verse is good and it works but the listeners have heard better from her.  The hook is nice and fits here.  7/10
  5. Hit Em Hard- This is one of the best beats on the album. Underrated and 1 Ton provide great verses to accompany a solid hook.  There is a positive message that is heard throughout the entire track.  8/10
  6. Real Weed Livin- The verses flow flawlessly over a hard hitting beat.  The theme is all about weed and Humbolt County.  All around a decent track.  9/10
  7. The Streets by The Dank Alumni- The beat in this track is very simple.  The topic in this one is about living the street life.  The verses are about selling drugs and doing what needs to be done to survive.  The hook is well written although very simple as well.  8/10
  8. Unstoppable- The beat in this track is slightly too loud which takes away from the verses.  The beat is also very complex and distracting.  The verses are alright but lacks that spark to make it memorable.  6/10
  9. Going Crazy Ft Kung Fu Vampire- This is a much darker beat than people are used to from Potluck.  The verses fit the tone of the beat very well.  Kung Fu Vampire finishes the track with a solid verse that makes the track end on a high note.  9/10
  10. Million Tears- A nice mellow beat allows the lyrics in the verses to shine here.  A song about dealing with lost love.  A very nice change in content and tone for this album.  The hook is simple but that works well here.  8/10
  11. Blown Away- Another slow and simple beat.  The verses are performed at the same tempo as the beat, it works but makes the track a little boring.  The hook has everyone’s favorite, Auto tune!  This track is a step down from the two previous tracks.  6/10
  12. Our Grass Is Always Greener Ft Garth Vader- A more old school beat in this track.  The content shifts back to weed and allows for more solid verses.  The hook is a little disjointed and that takes away from the track.  7/10
  13. Im A Gamer- This beat contains a ton of sound effects from all kinds of video games.  The beat is hard and driving.  The content is all about gaming with plenty of references to old school video games many of us grew up with.  This is a fun track for sure.  8/10
  14. Summer Nights Ft Garth Vader- The final track on the mix tape has another slow beat.  Underrated and 1 Ton add quicker verses but Garth Vader’s verse is much slower and flows with the beat instead of working around it.  The hook is simple and slow and that is ok.  7/10

Conclusion:  Fans of Potluck will appreciate them releasing this as a free mix tape.  Overall the album is alright and a definite mellow driving type sound.  There are great more classic sounding tracks with Let’s Take A Ride and Real Weed Livin.  But there are also a few experimental tracks such as Going Crazy which show Potluck can do more than just rap about weed.  A good effort that falls a little short due to the tempo and vibe being a lot slower than their fans are used to.
