It’s a new year so we all know what that means, a new round of merch is beginning to surface in the underground. Starting their year off with a bang the Suburban Noize Family has put together a compilation of, what they feel, are their best collaboration tracks. ICP did a project very similar to this there at the end of 2011, so here we go with a Sub Noize twist.

Every year the Suburban Noize family grows simply by adding an artist or group, or they sign a whole bunch of new talent and see where they land. Throughout the past decade the Kings, along with the rest of their label, have made some pretty solid connections on and off of the track with other big name acts in the wicked undergound; Tech N9ne, ICP, Twiztid, Blaze, Krizz Kaliko, so on and so forth. It’s only natural that people in the same genre collaborate to bring you their best music experience they can put together, it takes the elements you love of the groups or individuals separately and throws all of those elements together onto one song, much like ‘What We Are’, ‘Think For Yourself’, or ‘F.T.I.2’.

The people featured on this project aren’t so much undergound anymore as they used to be. I’m not saying they’re mainstream, however they have transcended to a level of notoriety that they have fashioned a new genre between the undergound of new up and comers and the mainstream. This doesn’t mean that it is any less good. The songs on here are pretty dope: ‘City to City’, ‘Bollywood Chick’ and ‘Party Monsters’ to name a few. This features a who’s who of the three record labels involved in these songs. ICP, KMK, Tech N9ne, (HED) P.E., Blaze ya dead Homie, Boondox, Krizz Kaliko, Potluck, Swollen Members, X Clan, Big B, along with Saint Dog and Chucky Chuck of DGAF making their own appearances on  a couple tracks as well.

This album is a double disc packed with songs that are nothing but that combination, a smorgasbord of tracks that are all featuring somebody. It’s a reminder of Twiztid’s “Independents Day” except not all of the songs are completely new. Most of are previously released however they’re all finally on this one album, rather having to switch disc to disc to hear each individual track.

This is a dope album for the listener who is just finding out about these groups or artists, it’s also an awesome throwback to some of the magic that might have caught your ear a while back. Personally, I don’t like the idea of these types of albums, regardless of who is putting it out. Putting something out that has already been released with only a handful of new material on there, whether it be remixes or new tracks altogether, is a way to get that extra money from the consumers.

Either way, it is a dope album to pop in and listen to, don’t take my word for it though find out for yourself and get a copy!
