To start this off. We’re gonna go with a story. Back to Self Inflicted 5 in 2007. I met Skin Grafik who was the DJ that night. I handed him a Sampler CD and he handed me an Album. It was pretty dope. Kinda made friends than. Then this past weekend I bumped into him after his performance at the Flight Deck and I found myself the owner of a CD/T-Shirt combo for $15.00 at the show from his label. The Shirt is called The Michi-Gun Shirt but the CD is a 2008 CD from his group Resa.P called “Food For Thought” after listening to it. Being a friend and all. I decided to give a review of it and I’m gonna talk about it here with the people I trust most. The Family of Faygoluvers lol. Now to the review.

If you are a fan of underground hip hop like Jedi Mind Tricks or Ill Bill then you’re gonna like Resa.P right away. These guys have done shows with Too $hort, Keith Murrey, and they’re based outta Traverse City, Michigan. Not Detroit lol. I like this CD alot for some reason. To continue this I’ll explain more. This is from the scene of rap I happen to be from which is Northern Michigan. It’s an area that’s mostly dominated by Metal, Country, and Barfly Rock cover bands. There’s not that many that really know about the Hip Hop Scene. Like when they think of Michigan hip hop they think of Detroit, Flint, or Saginaw. They pretty much ignore Northern Michigan altogether.

I am feeling songs like What’s the Point, Hip Hop 101, All this talk, and Sacrifice. This has alot of radio friendly rap along with some of that hardcore underground shit that most underground rap fans will really feel big time. And it’s from an area that not many know has a rap scene. Skin Grafik (or Grumple StiltzSKIN. Whatever you wanna call him.) and Resa.P shine like never before on this album and the Guests like G Smooth, 2Mex, 4nzix, Ashley Velmarie, Panik, Dante’, El Da Sensei, & Finale supply the supporting cast for the album that’s pretty much put together like an Oscar worthy movie for real. You would be bitch slapping yourself to old age if you sleep on this release.
