Straight outta Portland, Oregon comes the horrorcore mystified lyricist Tragedy. I can’t say I know much of Tragedy’s music or his whereabouts in the underground, but with the featured artists and production value he’s gotta mean something to have caught the attention of many of the underground’s biggest independent players. So let’s delve deep within the “Dark Side of the Womb”.

1. “He’s Back”
We get a little bit of a royal intro and when a white rapper gets royalty, he makes noise. Musically this track is a good intro, music by Michael “Seven” Summers, Tragedy keeps it simple lyrically with his northwest horrorcore style.
3 / 5

2. “Wanna Be”
The wicked shit gets spit, as we hear the victim’s getting ripped apart from a murder diagnosed from stress and depression. Tragedy taking the outcast angle with this song, sounds really good and the music is simple….and horrific. Sometimes we gotta be a little different when we blend in! Song is a little long but still good.

3. “Darkside Of The Womb” – feat. Prozak and Saint Dog
Ah the title track. We get DGAF’s Saint Dog and PDM’s Prozak together with Tragedy into the darkside of the womb. Coming together to show you what lies within the darkness, whether it’s drugs or being born with hate. Being drugged up can be quite dark. Saint, Prozak and Tragedy shine equally lyrically in this track.

4. “Voices Follow” feat. – The Dirtball
We get another collaboration this time with KMK’s own Dirtball! So what do the voices in your head tell you? Suicide? Murder? You tell us! The beat is pretty simple yet sick at the same time. Not alot of rapid fire rhymes from Dball but that’s not a bad thing! These two northwest lyricists shine very well together!

5. “Fatal Attraction” featuring Krizz Kaliko
There’s two sides of a story in a divorce and the truth. Divorce sucks when a bitch cheats, and being a single dad selling drugs with a child missing his mother….greatness for a song that’s both subliminal and real. Krizz Kaliko on the chorus and on the phone message gives this song a positive feel. Perfect balance to a messed up situation.
5 / 5

6. “Strange Negotiations” – featuring Merax and Travis O’Guin
As we delve further into the darkside of the womb, we get Tragedy’ son on the phone talking to Travis O’Guin wanting to be on the same bus as Tech N9ne. Too cute of a skit! And Tragedy talking to someone…..leads into the next track.

7. “Home Invasion” – featuring Big Scoob and VooDoo
When you’re living in poverty, you gotta scrap with what you got….or steal it. Strange’s own Big Scoob tells it like it is on the streets, Voodoo takes it the same way. Being poor sucks but breaking and entering takes it to the next level. Great song!

8. “Creepshow” – featuring Chief Grey and Johnny Blaze
Welcome to the creepshow! Musically this album is shining brightly on the horrorcore side of rap, but I don’t thing I’ve touched on enough of the singing. This song has some great singing from Chief Gray and Johnny Blaze on the chorus. Definitely a good track.
4 / 5

9. “Why So Serious?” – featuring G.N.S
Are you afraid of scary stories? Well Tragedy is that scary story you were told as a kid and you better watch your back! But it just may be a story! So…..why so serious?
3 / 5

10. “F*ck Em’ All” featuring Knothead
We get some rock in the intro and sometimes when you just gotta say fuck it all! I’m diggin’ this track. Alot of attitude, stress relief and lyrically speaks to the ones out there who just need to let the anger out, not the hate!
4 / 5

11. “New Message” featuring Tragic Ones
Messages from the supporters out there, some list of demands get asked for and some haters talk! Some funny shit! Haha!
N / A

12. “I Love You Bitches” featuring Chief Grey
Haha! Now if that isn’t a funny way to get a person to love you, I don’t know what is! We get some jazz, some singing and some blues within this track with a little horrorcore. I gotta say this is creative and I can say, this track stands out! Good way to sing about a cheating bitch!
5 / 5

13. “Share My Memories” featuring Potluck
Not everything used to be what it used to be, and everyone sings their memories. Potluck and Tragedy show how much they love this thing they call, “music”. Musically this track feels like a 90’s soul track. I feel this track too, definitely a track worth listening to again.
4 / 5

14. “The Last Boyscout” featuring Zion and G.N.S.
Sometimes the hustle is what makes you, you. Very few work hard for their slice of bread and some of those trailblazers are aptly called, last boyscout. Even though the game has changed, the hustle is the same!
3 / 5

15. “Tell Me, Tell Me” featuring Chief Grey
We all ask ourselves, “Why?”. Why, what? Exactly. Sometimes you gotta ask and you don’t get the answers on why you’re bleeding. A true testament of surviving betrayal and walking with the demons. Again with the singing making good of the lyrical style and music painting a picture of pain and struggle.
4 / 5

(Hidden Track)
A hidden track with a beat-box beat, all about drugs! Hilarious!
3 / 5

Verdict: Tragedy has made a good impression with Darkside of the Womb. Both lyrically, musically and subliminally, this album is put together very well. Well worth collaborations and hard work from the northwest horrorcore lyricist. This album truly is a testament of trials and tribulations of human emotion, betrayal, focusing on changing for the better and becoming stronger. Darkside of the Womb is sure to be something that’ll launch Tragedy’ career into a new height in the independent music business!
