First and foremost what I can say about this CD is FINALLY! It’s undergone a name change, about a fist full of years worth production, and more hype than an old school Tyson Brawl. Tech N9ne presents Krizz Kaliko’s Vitiligo, originally ‘The Funkra’ hit the streets of the nation sweeping it by storm Tuesday May 6, 2008. I can’t tell you how long I’ve waited for this to finally come out and now that it has I’m sure happy that I preordered it to get it that much earlier, to soak it all in. One thing I found appealing right from the start is the way it opens.

Tech and others at an amusement park come up to a couple of rides. They split up and he chooses what is called “Vitiligo” which by the way it sounds is one wicked bitch to ride, built at one of the most insane parks.

An instant classic from the Strange Music family Krizz shows us his repertoire and variations in which he can throw his voice. It’s a marvelous combination of serenade and strip club music. Some shit you can definitely bump in club and behind bedroom doors! Then flipping the script even more he reaches deep within himself to show us what it was like to grow up with this disease. This isn’t even a disease, but a blessing in disguise. Had it not been for this, I feel that Kaliko wouldn’t have been through some of the trials and tribulations otherwise to have the skills and lyrical depth to say what he says.

The guest appearances on it are none to be thought of as a joke. Of course what kind of Strange Music product would it be if Tech N9ne wasn’t featured in some way or form, along with Kutt Calhoun. BG Bullet Wound, Prozak, Skatterman, Snugbrim, Twiztid even E40 stops through putting the West amongst the Midwest madness. What I enjoyed about this CD so much was hearing Tech, but he was playing the role in which Kali usually, the script had been flipped and Kaliko is now showcased in the spotlight. . Just when it should sound like Tech would jump in it was still all Kaliko coming with more of that Big Krizz style.

The theme of a rollercoaster is very appropriate for this release kind of like it was for the Insane Clown Posse’s: The Tempest, there are so many ups and downs.

He sings, raps, even beat boxes for that ass on a track. In The studio there must have been an overwhelming amount of creativity flowing through the air to bring a product of this magnitude to our eardrums from out of the speakers. Not only in the lyrics, but also within the beats themselves, tracks like ‘Jungle Love’, ‘Do it like I do it’, ‘What’s Sizzlin’, and ‘The Bidness’ Krizz can definitely get the club vibrating and ladies gyrating. To pull a complete 180 degree spin and express emotion towards his loved ones and those closest to him with songs like ‘If I Ever Go’, his sister in ‘Vitiligo’, and ‘Rewind’. Then even more he jumps around once again to show us how he can keep it dark, gangster, and wicked in tracks ‘Anxiety’, ‘Peek-a-boo’, and ‘Crew Cut’.

If you have not gotten this by now, May 8, you better because you don’t know what you’re missing and are already late to one of the biggest parties on the underground music scene this year. Yet then again if you don’t really dig the music you don’t dig it and my attempts are futile, I do however strongly suggest you peep this project out it’s not one to be slept on.
