What up, recently I’ve been getting a lot of people giving me some constructive criticism about my reviews saying I should do write-ups for albums that I necessarily didn’t enjoy as well than just doing ones with CDs I only liked like usual. And at the same time try out writing a paragraph format review that most people do rather than my usual “track-by-track” ones that I favored the most. Just to see what the feedback for a briefer and to the point review.
Tonight I’m reviewing Big Slack and LaVey’s “The Goodfella & The Enforcer” EP that released a while ago and finally dug it up to talk you guys about it. Big Slack and LaVey are part of the infamous clique that goes by the name “Riff Raff” which consists of artists such as iLL, ClaAs, Bloodshot, Shy One, McNastee, and new member GrewSum.
The Good then Bad: The Hip Hop tracks, simple as that. I think the hip hop sounding songs came out better than the horrorcore tracks. Like “If It Aint Riff Raff” with McNastee, “Dick In Ya Jaw” with Rube, “Test Me” in a way, “C’Mon”, etc. Especially when it comes to Slack, he should stay on the hip hop tip because that’s where hes on point with his rhymes and delivery in my opinion. Making fun of the industry mainstream rappers by stabbing at their images, dances, rhymes etc are the humorous topics I like from Big Slack. From a fan’s perspective homie, I hope your next CD is like “Hate Me Cuz U Aint Me” in a sense that it has songs like what I just listed and songs like “You Aint A Rapper”, “Nobody’s Dancing” and “SykaMoStyle”. When it comes towards the end of the EP with songs like “Gotta Get Out”, its how most CDs close leaving you on the personal feel which I like a lot.
Concerning LaVey, dude does that wicked shit. And I like to hear this dude more in the future doing a classic horrorcore CD. Especially with songs like “Revenge Aint Sweet”. And he’s a lot better on those type of songs than the hip hop songs that Slack mostly shines on. So with LaVey I think he should keep it on the darker side because thats where I think he’s on point on. And in my opinion it’s a mash up that I wasn’t feeling but separately it would have been a different story.
Both emcees are good but I think their styles are completely different.
I’ll be on the look out for “Evilution” by LaVey and “Full Fledged Slacker” by Big Slack in the future to see if those are the CDs that I’ll enjoy.
Who’s This CD For?: Fans of Riff Raff specifically Big Slack and LaVey or fans who want to hear a two different genres mash up.
