TJ Lavin has done quite a few things with his life that have gained him some fame. He’s a pro dirt-BMX champion, and has been featured on an MTV show or two in the past, and now he has arrived at a new station in life. In front of the microphone putting it down trying to hold his own. A Las Vegas native like that high-class white trash, Big B, Lavin is out of the lab to bring you his newest venture, “The Lavs”.

The production on this CD isn’t bad at all, it sounds like it’s gonna be an interesting journey on this walk down the dimly lit trail that is known as “TJ Lavin’s Rap Career”, but it really isn’t. The CD is perfectly fine, the beats, and skills used in putting it together all seem to fit perfectly until Lavin steps up to the mic and actually begins to spit. Honestly, I think that he sounds like the tough-guy in the boy band that never made it, so now he’s trying to rap to sound harder than Liberache’s dick, but sounds softer than Snuggle the Downy Fabric Softener Bear. And nothing adds to this theory than when he uses swear words in his lyrics that don’t really sound like that fit.

Rapping on such subjects that are close to him; friends, biking, how “he made it”, how he doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke, and doesn’t use violence but listens to his mom and “Kills them with love? Or hugs?” I hear the same message again and again all over this CD, and I don’t like it. I don’t care what it was like for you to grow up riding bikes and being a good kid, but I do know what I like and it’s actual talent behind the microphone. Something that Lavin seriously lacks, my half-retarded, chain-smoking, constantly drinking pet monkey, Shep, could rap better than this, Sober!

If you like that “pop sounding” radio rap, by all means go get this CD and continue being the homosexual you are with your feathered hair, and Sean Jean clothing. And if you’re looking for a CD with a bunch of good beats to jack, 7th Seal Style, get this, I’m sure you’ll hear something you could flow all day on. As for me I’m just going to wonder why this disc would actually be pressed up.

The Bottom Line: TJ, stick to what your good at and stay out of the studio!
