Intrinzik, born Scott Adam Glass, had a life changing experience at the age of 12, when attended a Metallica concert. It was at that moment, he realized what he wanted to do with his life. Sitting behind a pair of drums, he banged around the hardcore, metal, and punk scenes of Washington D.C., and Phoenix. But it wasn’t until the summer of 2001, when he traded in his drumsticks for a microphone, that he truly became Intrinzik.

Wasting little time making a name for himself as the front man and beat creator for underground favorites Fallguy, along with Driver and Joe Dank. Intrinzik has shown the unique ability to blend genres, and fuse different elements, and styles of music to create a hybrid of hip-hop and metal, that has carved himself and Fallguy their own niche in the aforementioned underground scene.

The beats are simple yet effective, a lot of emcees rely too much on beats nowadays to try and disguise the fact that their lyrics are lacking. In this case however, the lyrics will usually outshine the production, and that isn’t a bad thing, at least in my opinion.

As far as guest appearances go, My Favorite Album packs a lot of star power. In addition to fellow Fallguy alumni, Driver and Joe Dank, Jason Porter and Separated At Birth. Sub Noize artists Big B and The Dirtball also make cameos, as well as underground icon McNastee, Wu-Tang Clan member Capadonna, and Proof of D-12 in one of his last recordings, just weeks before his murder.

My Favorite Album really hits its stride about five songs in starting with “Head Nod” as Intriznik and McNastee team up for a track guaranteed to make you do just what the title says. Followed by “These Dreams (remix)” by Separated at Birth, which is easily one of my favorite songs on the entire album. Then “Everything Must End”, which is one of my favorite Intrinzik solo tracks, and capping off with “Join The Fallguy Army” from Fallguy. Those four songs in a row really highlighted, and took it to another level for me personally. “Wall Street Pharmacist”, “Number Zero”, “Lies”, and “Hit The Road (Jason Porter remix)” are also highly suggested listening material.

I also found it very classy that Intrinzik chose to close his album with “Dead Or Alive” which features the recently departed Proof. Both rappers have great chemistry together, and the saddest part is we wont ever get a chance to hear them work together again. Either way it was definitely the right thing to do, and earned Intrinzik my respect, as a person rather than just an artist.

The Bottom Line: Fans of Fallguy should enjoy this album, as it shows a different side of Intrinzik, but also includes a few tracks from this breakthrough band. Other more strictly hip-hop fans should also enjoy this album, as Intrinzik shines lyrically, and shows that he’s not just some rocker who raps on the side for kicks. With all the guest appearances, and featuring some of the best that Intrinz INK Records has to offer, and I haven’t even mentioned the DVD that comes with it yet, My Favorite Album may just become yours.
