Coming from the Great White North, Mic Lordz and Sauce Funky may have a funny name but are amongst a favorite to opening up to great performers like KRS-ONE, Proof of D12, Jadakiss and Obie Trice, MFSF have etched in a great sound amongst themselves now being heard in the underground here in the United States as well. Being a fan of rock and metal I had to give this a listen after hearing them live. Juggalos if you feel a little “Rage Against the Machine” and starting a riot in the pit, then this will be for you. I bring you to their 2010 EP “Drop”. Let us have a listen!

1. Nothing to Me
With guitar riffs sounding like the Tekken 3 original soundtrack (Jin Kazama’s level), the group devastates us with a punkish style opener. I’m digging this sound with them sounding familiarly to a little bit of Rage Against the Machine with a little punk mixed into the blender.
4 / 5

2. Show Me
You can’t just get enough of these guys bringing that noise and energy to this banger! “Gimme what you got, show me what you got!” You’ll find yourself headbanging till you can’t see!

3. Drop
Ah the title track of this EP. I don’t mean to sound repetitive but their sound is truly Rage inspired and being repetitive with switching up lyrical styles and musically written riffs, is not bad at all. “So whatcha gonna do when the bodies start dropping!?” I’ll leave that to you.

4. Summertime (acoustic)
This portion of the EP has brought us a little variety, one out of three acoustic tracks from the Mic Lordz. This track is a real feel good track with a laid back feel to it. Everyone enjoys summer time, drinking a few, passing a few blunts and marinating in the fun in the sun. Lyrically this one steals it, on some parts the singing is a bit off. I rather enjoyed it and so will you.

5. Smooth (acoustic)
And we close this EP with the a trip to Panama Beach…well the Mic Lordz do. Honestly, the last three tracks almost feel like a canonical story to tell at the end of this EP. Of one thing these guys can do is play music and tell a great story. So spark up a blunt and open a cold one and enjoy this one!

Verdict: This EP is great! It’s got both sides of the coin here for the metal heads and the cooler ones stringing their guitars together to good times. This EP isn’t too short and it’s blended quite nicely with the different styles it brings. This is a must buy for anyone!
