After an almost 2 month review free break I decide to come back write up on an highly-anticipated release by Lo Key which is his 2nd solo LP “Chamiliatic” which you can listen to for FREE at the link at the bottom of this thread.

Hope you enjoy and drop some feedback after listening to the album and reading the review, appreciate it.

1. 1984 – Song begins with a small snippet of our phone interview where he explains what this CD will be about. Then a mysterious voice surfaces and summarizes the concept of the “Chamiliatic” talking about finding his true colors and what will happen when he does discover himself. This song is a time line if you will starting off at “1984” when he was born. The beat is dope, it sounds fast paced and kind of dark, fits the mood well. The hook and is good and the verses are well written and delivered correctly like what all opening tracks should be like.
10 / 10

2. Careless – Taking the sound to a slower and more depressing feeling to follow up on the “personal” concept which is good because it makes for good music. Talks about how he doesn’t care and what careless lifestyle he pursues probably due to depression. The hook has a pretty cool effect in it but I wish there was more to it you know. The verses are straight and the beat sounds dark and gloomy like the last one. I give it an above average score.
7.6 / 10

3. Cigarettes – Lo Key talks about his nicotine addiction and how bad it is. Not exactly what I expected on an album concept like this. Not really feeling this song compared to the first one. The verses are pretty good especially when he describes situations and the beat is up to par compared to the last two but the hook and bridge come weak. Maybe it hasn’t grown on me but I tend skip it when listening to this CD.

4. 8 Bits Legends (Ft. BadLuck) – Totally different version compared to the one that you and I are used to, it’s not as video game-ish (? lol) sounding as the one of Loke’s MySpace which I like a lot better because this one is boring compared to that one. Dope song nonetheless for the verses are humorous from both Loke and Luck and the hook was creatively written haha. Like I said the remix is better, I give it an average – good rating.

5. Legacy – First single that release on New Years which became my favorite song by Lo Key. The beat is very strong and unique and it helps paint the picture that Loke presents along with the sampling used in the hook, with the orchestrated instruments etc and all that. Song talks about his life and how he became to be who he is now. One of the best songs off of the whole CD and I never get bored of the track, this has the potential to become a successful radio single.
10 / 10

6. Dear Girl – Song’s about “snakey bitches”. If you are a big fan of Lo Key’s first debut album “So-Lo” you will notice a reference that was made in this one. This is unique because I never heard Loke speak of the subject before so I was interested to hear what he says. Very good song, well written and his delivery fits the mood well with the beat that raises suspense til the hook repeats again, which is a high pitched sounding girl singing is what it sounds like, dope shit. One of the type of songs I wanted to hear for an album like this.
8 / 10

7. Never – Another song that is up to par with “1984” and “Legacy” and should be his next single. Loke is singing out the whole song on a beat that kind of sounds like the same person who produced “Careless” with the pianos and whatnot, good shit. Loke spits some emotional shit talking about how “that aint him” and how he can’t change that I guess is what he’s saying.; wish it was a bit longer though.
8 / 10

8. Let’s Go (Ft. T.O.N.E-z) – “It ain’t always rainy days”. Loke and Tonez do what they do best and that’s straight up hip hop joints ’bout partying. Which could we apart of Loke’s personal life, not always just depression and bad experiences. But I think I’d rather have a track that is about that by Death B4 Dishonor because I heard a couple on the sampler. But the beat is pretty dope and would make a good club track and the verses are what you would expect from both of ’em sick punchlines, T.O.N.E-z also talk about being appreciative for the fans over money. I give it an average okay rating.
7 / 10

9. Losin’ My Mind – Song sounds like “Dear Girl” because he uses the same type of hook with the high pitched voice singing and the beat sounds like its by the same producer. He talks about him slipping out of his sanity. This is probably, next to the singles, my favorite song lyrically next to “End Of An Era”. I wish there was more to it in the hook you know like Loke rapping over the singing in the backround or he could have used the bridge as part of the hook especially with the effect he used on it.
8 / 10

10. End of an Era – Song’s about his ambition and struggle to reach the top while battling the demons around and within himself, very well written. Lo Key was definately in the right mind state with the pen and pad like a brush and canvas. The chorus is a bit repetitive ‘cept for the “look into my life, look into my eyes, you will see a killer, same thing you made into a sinnaaaa”. And also the line “This is my decision, god help horrorcore, make room for the 12 oracles” makes you think about what’s next, especially if you are one of those people who bought the “Cut Throat Chronicles” and the “The Last Offering” CDs by Lo Key earlier this year.
9 / 10

Summary: For some of you guys this wouldn’t be what you expected, especially for the ones who can’t see passed the whole “wow only 10 tracks” part and for the people who don’t think that way you’ll agree with the saying “less is more”. So listen to the whole CD for free @ LokeyMusic.net
