Welcome to the longest review in Faygoluvers history… Well I think it could be but if I’m wrong I’m very fucking sure Scottie will tell me lol. Before I go on with This massive review. I will let you all know that I’ve been down with the clown 18 years come this December (Ringmaster Era). I’ve seen a lot of shit in that time as a down ass ninja and I never thought in a million years we’d see a 2nd set of Joker’s cards. But here it is. I was down since the 2nd Joker’s card of the first deck and Now here I am reviewing the 2nd card in the 2nd deck. Now enough of reminiscing. Let’s get this started!

The Mighty Death Pop

 The intro to me sounds like a homage to the intro to 1995’s The Riddle Box. With the whole “person dies from being stupid” and than you hear ICP give out a melodic spoken word style rap explaining the mighty death pop. Something you ain’t heard since 1999’s The Amazing Jeckel Brothers. The title track “The Mighty Death Pop” samples “Everyone’s a Winner” by Disco/Funk legends Hot Chocolate. Now when I first wrote this I didn’t bother reading the credits til this morning after I sent it in. I swore it was a sample of “Stayin’ Alive” cuz the melody in the hook almost sounds just like The BeeGees. But I got corrected by my own fat prodigious gut and the bossman (Scottie). Now we’re gonna get to the song I couldn’t stop playing cuz I feel it’s the TRUE return of the Wicked Shit for ICP. I’m talking about “Night Of The Chainsaw”. Most folks in our business will go with knives, guns, or an axe but The Duke Of The Wicked goes for the Chainsaw. One of my favorite songs. “Chris Benoit”.. For my thoughts on the song just peep the review I whipped up on the video. The song is great. It has a dub-step feel.  I know a lot of people (Like The Wrestling Jesus.. Enjoy the traffic now! lol) have been bashing this song just because of the title. Just get over it you idiots (#LoveThyHaters)!. Now on my latest CD, I happen to have a song called “You” which’s concept is the same as the next song “The Blasta” which is pretty much about killin‘ bullies (this one’s better than mine lol *Marks out*). It’s another one of my favorites on this record. The only thing I like on the “Kickin’ Kickin'” song is Shaggy twisting his tongue and stepping into the arena of that good ol‘ Midwest Hip Hop staple of the fast flows. Shaggy also lights it up on “Bazooka Joey”. Jesus Christ These guys are really aiming to take shock value to the extreme. It ain’t finished yet. They might make a new enemy in the most popular woman-beater in music today. I’m talking about Chris Brown! Why would that be? Because Violent J straight up talks about killin‘ his bitch ass on the song “Shooting Stars”. The duo in clown makeup pulls a “Jackass” and goes with to a happy song “Juggalo Juice” which is about… You guessed it motherfucka! FAYGO! Obviously “Hate Her To Death” is about a girl. I can relate on this song because there’s quite a few ex girlfriends I got that I wish I could just go off on as well. “SKREEEEM” [Featuring Hopsin and Tech N9ne] is one hell of a collab that should’ve happened 2 years ago! To me this is ICP and Tech N9ne passing the torch to Hopsin who already has the title of “The next generation Horrorcore king”. I love Tech’s verse. It’s some old school Tecca Ninna on this one! “Ghetto Rainbows” is very chessy however I can’t stop bumpin‘ it in my homie‘s car while rollin’ around the world. “When I’m Clownin'” is some old school ICP shit here. Just clownin‘ it around Wicked Clown Style baby! Complete with bloody bodies and juicy nedens to fuck. “Dog Catcher” is a straight up diss to Dwayne “Dog” Chapman (aka Dog the Bounty Hunter). I’m very sure he’s gonna bitch and moan about this. But big props to ICP for owning his ass! “Dasies” I think is almost a story about how a flower grows in the middle of chaos and making ugly look beautiful.. It’s almost like Miracles.. Well let’s hope it don’t do what that song did haha. “Where’s God?” has brought out ALOT of debate of many things. Some people actually think it’s a diss to Esham (which it ain’t. Just because The words “boogieman”, “negativity” and “Crib Death” are mentioned don’t mean it’s a diss to Esham. Jesus Christ let it go!)  If you really listen to the lyrics, it’s not! This song I can relate to because it’s a true question. With all this shit in the world. Where is god? I’m not trying to piss off any bible thumpers but they got a point. Than again I’m a lapsed catholic and I was raised being told that everything happens for a reason and it’s all part of god’s plan. This might be an eternal debate that we should just drop for now and get back to the review. The album ends with “Forever” which is a great way to end a classic ICP album. ICP just getting on a deep level about change rather it’s good or bad and just enjoying friends and family forever.

Mike E Clark’s Extra Pop Emporium

 The hand cramps continue on this one. This was originally gonna be titled “Mike E. Clark’s Musical Murder Mix Vol.3” but obviously it was changed to match the theme for The Mighty Death Pop. The intro “Traveling Circus” just welcomes us to the CD. It’s a short reason. Now to one of the 2 reasons I picked White Pop. “Chris Benoit” (Kuma’s Scrub Club Remix) Featuring Ice Cube & Scarface. ICP’s lyrics were something. You add 2 Gangsta Rap legends (nobody EVER expected these 2 to be on an ICP Song… EVER!!!) in Ice Cube & Scarface. You’re gonna get something interesting. Ice Cube’s verse almost mirror’s the final months of Chris Benoit’s life (note to the wrestling fans pissed at the song already: Don’t bash Ice Cube because Cube would whip ya ass. Don’t think kids movies and Hollywood made him weak. He’s still the same Cube from his days in NWA) and everyone who’s followed Ice Cube since his debut album “AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted” knows that if Cube’s gonna speak on something. It’s gonna make EVERYBODY think! Scarface’s verse is lyrics you’d expect from Scarface. “I don’t give a fuck. i’ll stab you again, and stab you again, pull out my strap and shoot you again” type of shit. Raw rugged wicked gangsta shit straight outta Houston motherfuckers! Love it. “When I’m Clownin‘” (Kuma’s Clowin’ Remix) Ft Kreayshawn first had me ask this question “Who The FUCK Is Kreayshawn!?”. I still don’t know much. All I know is she’s an Internet rapper who just snagged a deal who has some weird ass raps. Thank Christ she’s hot because personally, I think she needs a lot of work on her flow. Not saying her verse is bad cuz I liked it…but I think she needs some lessons in how to actually rap. If she’s reading this I got 3 names for ya to look up: KRS ONE, Nas, & Rakim. Listen to them and rap afterwards. Trust me “Lost In The Music” Ft Swollen Members is another one of my favorites. It’s now in my personal soundtrack because it just describes a great quote from Tim Armstrong: “When I Got The Music. I Got A Place To Go!”. It was nice to hear that MadChild got his Passport back and is allowed to return to the US because I like this track. I am now a Swollen Members fan. Hey lookie here. So they choose Dog Catchers over “Up Ya Ass”. I think the song’s fresh. Short but fresh. I tried listening to “Ghetto Rainbows” (Soft Ass R N B Mix) but I’ll be honest here. I couldn’t do it. I’m not a fan of poppy style bands and Color Me Badd was once a boy band back in the early 90’s (the only one to perform of In Living Colour) Well I tried it. It’s ok. It just sounds 2 much like a late 90’s midwest rap song like Do Or Die, Bone or Twista (just throwing random references here). Tho I will give them props for picking the talkbox over autotune. “Birfday Party” is another “recently forgotten freshness” track on here. It’s a nice song about birthday parties and how years later those friends want nothing to do with you anymore. There’s alot of people who can relate to that. Wow look at this homies. Willie D and The Demented Duo Twiztid join ICP on “Scrubsitute Teacher”. I wish I had teachers like these guys in high school. That would be some great entertainment. This song is a album stealer. We got’s yet another “recent forgotten freshness” song here with “Playin’ In The Woods”. It almost pays homage to that great story Shaggy wrote in 1996’s “Tunnel Of Love EP”. Have ya ever been lost in the woods? I have at night. It’s not 2 cool but it seems Violent J enjoys it. Light up the joints, blunts, bongs, bowls, pipes, and one hitta quitta’s for “Pass It To The Sky” Ft Kottonmouth Kings. Getting high and passing it to all those greats in heaven. Violent J ain’t alone since D-Loc, Dirtball, Daddy X, and Richter join in with more weed to bring these 5 high on’s right to heaven. The final “recently Forgotten Freshness” track is “Shugston Brooks 1959-2004″. It’s another one of those “Violent J raps in the form of another person” as noted before in songs like “Hellajulah“, “We Gives No Fucks”, and “Superstar”. This time it’s about some drunken husband who likes to get drunk and beat his wife. The beat samples a classic REO Speedwagon song. The beat samples a classic REO Speedwagon song “Take It On The Run”. It’s a classic rock song to sample for what could be another classic juggalo anthem. “Night Of The Chainsaw” (Joe Strange Remix) Ft Three 6 Mafia YAY! My favorite song on the main album gets remixed with those Triple 6 Thugs straight outta Memphis!  I highly recommend this track. This remix is pretty cool. The Emporium closes with “Forever” (Extended Geto Mix) Ft Geto Boys. We got a great song to close and the remix features the reunion of the Geto Boys! It’s the first time since 2005 have the Geto Boys been on a song together. I love Scarface and Willie D’s vocals. It’s a shame we didn’t get a verse from Bushwick Bill…I would’ve loved to hear that. He IS on the chorus just doing that “Insane Jamaican” shit he’s known for. Love that lil motherfucker.

Freaky Tales

ICP pays tribute to Bay Area Legend Too $hort‘s classic anthem from $hort Dog’s debut “Born To Mack”. Pretty cool but let’s be honest here. Who really has time to listen to an entire 60 minute song? I didn’t. I had to take my own personal time out to listen to this song lol. A lot of chicks like Heather, Michelle, Rosetta, and Melodie just to name a few. Great cover none the less (Personally I prefer Too $hort‘s 1995 Sequel “Cocktails” but that’s my opinion.).

Smothered, Covered & Chunked

The clowns wrap up the cover song fest with “Smothered, Covered & Chunked“. The album begins with “Prelude” which is a cover of NWA’s “The Prelude” from their 2nd and final album “EFIL4ZAGGIN”. The only thing that’s almost the same on this is the fact that Cold 187um was on the original 2 (I own the CD so I can back this shit up fam). The clowns keep it comin‘ with “Jump Around”.  The Classic House Of Pain track gets a new twist from Violent J. Now comes a personal debate for me on this bitch. ICP and Blaze’s version of Tears For Fears “Shout”. This song did do some justice but than again I’ve heard the original, Disturbed’s version, and this one and put it to the debate.. I’ll reveal that result in the final rating. “Ain’t No Future” pays tribute to both the late great Flinttown rapper MC Breed as well as that classic G-Funk Era from the 90’s. They even sample that classic Roger Troutman sound. Gotta love that funk. “Hold Still” yes is a kids song. I’m serious. It’s from the Nick Jr show “Yo! Gabba Gabba!”. ICP does curse on it so I wouldn’t listen to it in front of ya lil ones. The Clowns even pay homage to the legendary AMG on this bitch. With “Bitch Betta Have My Money” Ft Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit. HOLY SHIT! I never thought We’d see this! Maybe in 2000 sure we would’ve expected it. But it’s 2012? I didn’t even know Fred Durst was even alive! Dude still sounds like he has it. Rap/rock might be making a comeback. Either that or somebody might wanna sign Mr. Durst and/or his band to a better contract and have em throw out a new record or give him a chance to drop a solo. ICP also shines well on this. I’m very sure AMG would be proud. Next up is “Night Of The Living Baseheads“. Yes they cover a Public Enemy song that had motherfuckers think. I’m still debating in my head if ICP’s tellin’ the same message or not cuz let’s face it…crack ain’t really big anymore. Sure it’s still around but Meth is now the big drug we all gotta deal with (that’s on all races 2. Everybody’s suffering on this one because almost everybody has a family member addicted to meth). The message is still clear and they even have bits and pieces of the original. Ok I been dreading the following song for awhile. The second this song came out originally in the early 2000’s, everybody I knew was cranking it up like it was fucking crack… Annoyed the hell outta me. Then I had a friend just sit and fuck with me because every car I was in he would just go “hahahaha. Joe’s favorite song!”… Now that would straight up piss me off.   I’m talking about ICP’s take on Christina Agulara’s “Beautiful (Indestructible)”. I’m just gonna label that a Parody cuz I was laughing my ass off half the time. After actually taking a serious listen to it I noticed they put their own spin on the track. But even this I would’nt bump in public because, well.. we already went through this lol. Thank Christ “Mind Playin’ Tricks On Me” Ft Lil Wyte and ABK was right after that because I needed a touch of something completely different. The boys do give the Geto Boys classic a great touch and to finally hear Lil Wyte and ICP on a track together was great! Originally Boondox was supposed to be on this track, but left Psychopathic during the process so out with The Skarecrow and in with the Native Warrior, ABK! He was a great replacement and this track is a great throwback to a classic…. well… Throwback! We knew this was coming long before they mentioned it on the infomercial. Another excuse for Violent J to sing a Micheal Jackson song. This time it’s called a tribute (everyone else will call it a sign of disrespect but fuck em!). ICP’s rendition of “State Of Shock” originally done by The Jacksons ft Mick Jagger. We even hear Violent J do a lil bit of that classic “Jacko” “WHOOHOO!” shit. I heard J did a full on moonwalk in the studio on this one. Now I know Big Hutch himself Cold 187um convinced ICP to pay homage to one of the guys who even helped inspire them to get into this rap biz. I’m talking about that Compton Azz G himself. The Late Great Eazy Muthafuckin‘ E! ICP and Cold 187um pay homage to ICP’s Idol and Hutch’s departed homie with the cover of “Love 4 Dem Gangsta’s”. The bassline is funky as hell and ICP and 187um pay a real good tribute for Eric Wright who I know is lookin’ down at us in Heaven in a Drop Top 64′ Impala with Pac, Biggie, Breed, and 187um’s uncle Willie “The Mack” Hutch ridin’ and lettin’ them hydrolic’s fly bumpin’ this track! The album closes with the classic Willie D anthem “Guess My Religion”. The same lyrics even. Just some truth that not all of these “homeless shelters” or “soup kitchens” are always open for the homeless. The song still rings true 20 something year’s later and ICP just had to update it. This country has a homeless population that’s still super outta control. Though some of us need faith to survive, sometimes faith is not enough for everybody. You gotta think about those cold winters in Michigan.. And that’s on the real!

All 4 disc’s end the same way. They each have their own hidden tracks which is nothing but something I’ve NEVER heard anybody in the music biz do. Yep. It’s time to pay homage to the late great Dick Clark and those classic “TV Bloopers” when ICP gives out their own “Outtakes”, the shit’s pretty fucking funny. It even proves a point I have been trying to force down a few of my friends throats “George W. Style” lol. And that’s the great saying that “Nobody’s Perfect”. Oh it’s true. It’s DAMN FUCKIN’ true!

All in All, The Mighty Death Pop is a classic masterpeice from the explosive extras down to the packaging. The box ain’t regular. These are some high grade quality boxes here. Some shit you can knock on if you need a portable “knock on wood” moment. I also dig the holographic cover for MDP.  This is something I ain’t seen on a CD cover since Master-P’s 1998 joint “MP Da Last Don”. This is another Juggalo Classic in it’s own way staight from the Wicked Clowns. This has something everybody will love. And that’s the truth.
