its not a fight.  or at least, shouldnt be.  thats what pisses me off most about both the individuals who believe in a higher power and worship it as members of an organized religion, and the individuals who may or may not believe in a higher power, but either way work in direct opposition to organized religion.  both groups always feel like they have to fight.  constantly.  they dont.

What pisses me off is the fucking bias in this forum.  You want to call yourselves fair?  Then be fair.  I have NOOOO problem with you guys saying you’re anti-religious.  

 

But after that distinction is made, you can’t call it a free forum.  I open my mouth, and immediately I’m wrong and you all go on the defense.  It’s like walking on fucking egg shells.  Then when I’m like, “but you guys are biased,” it’s WAAAAH WAAAAAH CRY BABY LUCKY AWWWWWWWW.  Like, what the fuck, guys?  Boo fucking hoo, someone believes in God and he said it out loud.  Doesn’t mean he’s shoving it down your throat.

the non-churchies [being my group, i dont feel i need to change the label] are, by and large, not interested in the fight, whether its good or not.

And hey, other than your subtle bias [i.e. let me gripe about religious people and then in the end tack on a “and non-religious people too!” disclaimer], you’re not really one of the ones that bother me here.  

why not?  you argue back at me with the same irrelevancies youve used on anyone else.  

I mean, I have no problem with you guys being like, “Eh, I don’t like when Violent J gets all religious on us.”  That’s totally cool.  I agree, to an extent, because I feel like his lack of actual religious education often pigeon holes him in having to explain himself and looking ignorant.  

religious education can make people look hella ignorant, too.  

Where I step in and say Hold the fuck up.  Is when you guys start generalizing all Christians by your small group of mid-west bible thumping evangelists.  Seriously, I’ve never met a person like that in my entire time as a practicing Catholic.  Yet, I can acknowledge they exist.  Kindly do me the same fucking respect and realize I am a religious person with a working brain.

you aint seen me say shit about christians.  i will now though.  

christians, as shown above, have a very strong tendency to assume that theirs is the only religion, and therefore, anything said about religion is an attack on christianity specifically, and must be repelled.  

really, any fundamentalist does the same thing.  but christians do it far more often, fundamentalist or not.

I’m a part of a third group who likes to sit back and watch all of the pointless bickering between the two. You are never going to change anybodies mind and neither group will actually listen to what the other has to say(just enough to make a retort) so it’s essentially two people talking to a wall and the conversation never goes anywhere. You are spot on though, there doesn’t HAVE to be a fight. We can all co-exist and we don’t all have to believe the same shit.

to be fair, there are plenty of churchies and anti-churchies [i think im gonna run with those terms, now that they are established] who dont feel the need to dive into this kinda talk and make it a fight.  but not nearly enough.

Not all “religions” have a being called “god”. Not all faiths, have ANYTHING to do with the word. What about Wiccans and Native Americans? But… I don’t think J is excluding those people.  Like, he personally has God, but he specifically said that he doesn’t mean the God.  He just means having faith.
