Just picked up a copy of this for 10 bucks at a record store. Glad I didn’t pre-order! Here are just some general first impression thoughts without too many details. It’s a few days till release so I don’t want to give a blow by blow spoiler. While I am very mad at MNE and their carbon copy tactics, I did my very best to listen to this album objectively. Not with the intention of finding any and all flaws. Fact is, I still love their music, I just don’t have the same respect for them.
Ok so first off, the singles we have heard are all the worst songs on the album. The album is damn good but it definitely didn’t hit me as hard as their other releases. The intro song is fucking excellent, but it’s also very ironic, you’ll see why. The singles kick in back to back and they still aren’t great to me, sound better through my system than the computer though. Black Clouds is excellent, definitely a stand out song. I Got These Feelings has sort of a wack chorus but the verse and beat makes up for it entirely. Come on Let’s Get High has a very smooth r and b style, I love it. 1k is…. forgettable… as I write this I don’t remember a damn thing about it… I am pretty sure it was another jamming metal track.
That’s Why They Hate Us is going to bring about a lot of speculation. It definitely sounds like a diss track towards ICP, but that could just be because of recent events clouding my judgement. It could easily just be dissing fans who call shit out and question. There is also a secret track at the end of the song that may support that it’s a psychopathic diss. I don’t want to spoil it but some will love it, some will hate it. I actually didn’t think it was too bad, considering their business tactics.
The new Psychomania rocks! From the vocals to production, it all sounds better. The final track is another great slow jam to ride off to.
If I had to compare this to another album it would be Heartbroken and Homicidal, it’s experimental while still being old school Twiztid. Overall solid album, but I foresee that it will be a divisive one. While it’s good, it’s not good enough to get the approval of somebody who hates Twiztid so much they burned their collection or something. Beef or not, I can easily see someone not digging this album that much, and someone with spicy beef ain’t gonna like it. So get ready for the comment board being full of “fuck this album” threads. Even people who are wholeheartedly on Twiztid’s side might not dig it. Like I said, it doesn’t hit you in the face with excellence like their other albums.
Side note, the packaging and inserts have extremely poor resolution. To the point where I thought I got a bootleg copy, but it has the sticker, all the ads, photos and the ninja star inside. The font on the back is a dead giveaway and you can’t even properly see the MNE logo on the side, it’s just a blur. It’s a shame because the cover is dope as shit but it doesn’t shine, all the fine detail is lost. Very surprised to see this low quality packaging from Twiztid and an art designer might have to get fired. Hate to see how the blow up picture on the vinyl looks…

I only skimmed your review just because I’d rather hear it first, but cool shit man. I can’t believe it hasn’t leaked yet. I have an Apple Music subscription, so I’ll be listening to it legally when it comes out, but am surprised I haven’t been able to find it yet. I’m pumped to hear the new Psychomania. I fuckin love the version of it that’s already been out.

I honestly loooove Heart broken ampersand Homicidal. Maybe it’s because I’m a depressed degenerate, but I feel the fuck outta that album. I’m not gonna let theor little quarrel bother me amd skew my judgement of their music. I wish everyone would focus on the new music instead of this queef.

“I’m the product of bust lips and cut wrists rambunctious when i feel like im getting fucked with. “
Apple, Circles, Im Stuck, Set by Example, Keys To My Mind….. Thats the shit. If they release another album ANYTHING like HB&H then HOLY FUCK. That was prolly their most hated album while at the same time being one of my favorites. That was pure dope shit.
(i wont lie, im looking for that leaked copy, i already have an autographed copy on the way, but i cant fuckin wait, especially after hearing that its reminiscent of HB&H)

Got mine in the mail today along with Young Wickeds Vengeance “finally, I was starting to question if Twiztid stole some Hatchet gears employees lol”
I’ve loved all the singles but personally I think they released to many singles before the albums release. Only 12 tracks and 5 have been heard already. So it kind of takes away.
Saw you mentioned the Carbon copy tactics. Not sure what your referring to but I take it it’s the similar tactics like bundling the album with an item like a Ninja star or such. The way I see it is MNE knows it’s virtually impossible to survive off CD sales so they need extra incentive for people to buy a hardcopy so they can move em off the shelf.

it all makes sense now, the ones who blindly support everything twizid says, as ChildsPlayNinja would say, are the ones who actually liked heartbroken an homocidal, or rate it highly when compared to their catalog.
no disrespect for you liking what you like, it just clears things up for me thats all

I personally have been down since 1999. I know whats ‘good’ to me may not be whats ‘good’ to others. That shit is called OPINIONS. We are all entitled to those. And as a fellow juggalo, I can’t understand why you fall into that BS mentality of only what I like is good and everything else is crap…. “Ohhh you like it, yer blind der der der”. That is one weak ass ninja downing other peoples tastes.
No disrespect to you, it just makes you look like a bitch. Just a little.

H&H had its flaws but it wasn’t the horrendous shit show some of y’all make it out to be either…some of my favorite Twiztid songs are on there and anytime Twiztid tries anything other than the same old generic “Kill Somebody” type shit I can at least respect em for trying something different…maybe some of y’all like hearing the same old song done over and over again though idk
Independence Day is another example…not a perfect album but they tried something different for them (I guess they tried to do it with Green Book…the big named/non Psychopathic features and all) and it also has some of my favorite Twiztid cuts

my bad almost forgot to share my thoughts on the album this thread is actually about so here it goes
after a few listens so far I dig it…right now I dig it more than The Darkness and probably Abominationz as well…it’s got some issues (mainly the mixing on some songs…vocals are too low compared to the production which makes some of the lyrics a bit hard to make out…Barely Surviving is an example though it’s a great track otherwise)…didn’t care for the group track much but only because I’m still not really sold on their whole label…gave G-Mo a chance and it just wasn’t my thing, Lex is kinda generic…I fuck with Boondox and Zodiac but idk the song itself was just your usual posse cut
a lot of these songs will especially be great live though (That’s Why They All Hate Us especially)

H&H is one of Twiztid’s most progressive records to date. Probably their must underrated album.

And the beats were out of this world.
which may or may not be a good thing.

Wicked was a really good idea and the concept for the songs were ok, but nothing really stood out for me. I do member loving a bonus track alot, i think its called psycho. But most the album is a blur, plus them performing hahahaha live ruined that song for me. At the end of days tour they made the hook sound lame as hell, and i could never get that out of my head everytime i hear that song.
The buckets of blood video was sweet tho.
Wicked was the album i started to think twizzler was starting to lose momentum. When H&H came out, i listened to that album 3 times that day. I just couldnt believe twiztid dropped an album with not even one song i liked. I had to come up with excuses for myself to justify why i should like any song/songs.
