Family of 5 needs your support in a contest

We got hit up yesterday by a ninja who’s reaching out on behalf of his sister’s family. They’re in the middle of remodeling their home to make it more handicap-friendly for their son, and have entered a contest to win a new Heating and Cooling System. They’re asking everyone to take a second and click the link to vote.

Here’s what Brad‘s email said:

Hi Friends!
My family needs your help. This is a contest to win a heating and air system. Now you all know me and I don’t ever ask much of anything from anyone EVER! But my sister and her husband are remodeling their home to make it handi-cap friendly for their son who suffers from Duchene Muscular Dystrophy. This child cannot get around on his own and by my understanding the condition will continually worsen. Winning this heating and air system would free up much needed resources enabling them to buy the overhead track system enabling the child to get around the house. My sister is the sweetest gal you ever met. She and her husband Paul are working very hard to give this child as normal a life as it is possible to have in the short time he will be with us. Please vote for Paul St Gems. he is represented as (H) on the voting list. This is VERY important to us please help.
Thank you!

The Bonney.com site, where the contest is being held, gives a detailed look into Paul’s family situation. I included excerpts below, but be sure to click his link on the site and read the full story.

Paul is a devoted and loving father of my 3 nephews and husband to my sister. His second son, Nathan, was diagnosed at age 4, with Duchene Muscular Dystrophy. By age 8 Nathan had lost the ability to walk and has now been confined to a wheel chair for 3 years. Nathan also has severe osteoporosis and compression fractures his back from being lifted and transferred without the proper medical equipment. Nathan’s life expectancy is early to mid 20′s with decreasing muscle ability along the way… Paul’s youngest son is Joshey. He has been diagnosed with Opitz syndrome. While not as severe of disability, Joshey requires special care and has been the reason for many long nights in the emergency room per year. Paul’s wife, Wendy, had to undergo emergency brain surgery in 2011 and lost her ability to work for 6 months. Wendy still cannot drive and has some lingering restricted abilities…

Recently, they had to make a tough decision to downgrade the family home to in order to afford the equipment and construction needed to accommodate Nathan as his osteoporosis and growing body have made it to too difficult and dangerous to simply pick up and place in a bathtub, bed, chair etc. They are scraping every dime together and hoping for fund-raiser donations to afford to convert the garage of the new house into a handicap-friendly, wheel-chair accessible living area and a bathroom for Nathan… The new conversion area of the garage will need its own HVAC system or the whole house will need a bigger system to accommodate the area. Your contest could not have come at a better time to relieve part of a huge burden on Paul, a good, hard-working man who carries the weight of many on his shoulders. He could really use this hand-up.

All you have to do to help out is click the link below, and on the new page that appears select “H: Paul StGeme” (as indicated by the red arrow) and click the yellow ‘Vote’ button. That’s it, there’s no submissions or email addresses required or anything, it’s that simple, ninjas.

Vote for Paul StGeme @ Bonney.com

I usually hate these “vote for me, fam” type stories, but these folks have enough to deal with as it is. I wish them success.

I voted. They’re the only ones really receiving votes besides the woman getting support from her co-workers. This is worth spreading around to help out with.
    Much Love!
