On November 9th, a short article written by Journalist Katie Friel for Austinist.com was published regarding the recent rise in concern over “Juggalo Gang” activity by residents and officials of Austin, TX. The context in which this article was written is clearly meant to express just how absurd the situation really has become, and as a Juggalo, I couldn’t help but smile at certain comments made by the author, such as:

[“Could you imagine? Sitting in front of a big mirror in an APD office, surrounded by palettes of clown make-up. A single tear falls from your eye as you think back to your past, to being a young cadet in the police academy, full of promise and hope. Now look at you. You have to hang out with clowns cause your boss is making you.“]

and, [“take a deep breath and remember that your tax dollars are going to investigating clowns and that it’s a great investment and not at all absolutely ridiculous.“]

My reason being because even while under such a heavy veil of sarcasm, the strength of those truths are still able to shine through, stand ground, and get the point across. It’s a shame this is the second time we’ve had to report an article mentioning this “Capital City Clowns” (click here for the previous post) crew in a negative manner (go feed the fuckin’ homeless or organize some other kind of local charity from the heart, and turn that rep around by showing your community what Juggaluv is really about!), but then again there’s no telling how much of it is media spin. So far to my knowledge nobody has been actually charged for any crimes related to these specific allegations, so I guess we’re just going to have to see how this one rides out.
