And if they didn't hype it, everyone would bitch about how all ICP care about are themselves. No satisfying some people. Jesus.

To be honest, the only time I listen to Boondox is when they play his songs on my insane clown posse radio on Pandora. I also never catch him perform when I'm at the gathering, I never liked his shtick so I never really gave him a chance.  With that being said, I fuck with a few songs of his I heard. Does anybody got any recommendations I should check out??

i guess you could say I'm somewhat out of the loop. I got into ICP between Riddlebox and Melinko, I went away for a couple years after Jeckel Bros, and by the time I came back a couple years ago, there was so much to catch up on that I never got around to checking out a cowboy redneck clown. Hell, when i went away dark Lotus was just "echoside".

Damn, you got out of it at the wrong time lol. Imo, 2000-2001 was nothing short of pure motherfucking magic. I remember at the 1st gathering seeing the Rydas perform and being blown away, then the very next gathering seeing Dark Lotus tear the Seagate center the fuck down when tales was released. I feel old now, shit I was a fifteen year old kid getting turned lose with no friends or family with me at the novi expo center, I still got a giant foot from ICP's set when the stage got rushed and torn apart. The B/B albums are still prolly one of the most slept on releases if you ask me. Fucking Moon Glorious.

My copy arrived from Hatchet Gear earlier today. Giving it my first spin right now. Only a couple tracks in. Really digging it so far. The intro was absolutely wicked, Abaddon is a solid title track, and Sober Truth is pretty good, the female voice on the track threw me off at first, this album feels familiar yet quite different. Also just finished listening to Bloody Regrets, probably the track I was most looking forward to (been wanting a collab between Hoodo and 'dox since Crystal Skull dropped) and it was damn near everything I wanted it to be. Still think it'd be sick for them to do a cover of Southwest Voodoo together. Definitely my favorite track on the album so far, and honestly amongst Boondox's best I think.

So I guess I'll do my sorta review of Abaddon now that I've given the album a couple of listens, with my second spin of it being headphones in, lights and monitor off.

Intro - Good way to start the album. Sets the tone well, sinister and wicked.

Abaddon - Great title track. Was the first single released, great video for it. I've not heard the original version Boondox released that was more of a dubstep song, so can't really compare the two. Not too much to say, not exactly a standout track, but still pretty solid.

The Sober Truth - Was definitely a change of pace, just not the sound I was expecting, especially coming off of the previous track. Not a favorite, but it's aight.

Bloody Regrets (featuring Big Hoodoo) - The first big standout track for me. I have been wanting a collab between Boondox and Big Hoodoo for damn near a year now and they completely delivered. It's everything I could have asked for. Awesome beat, great hook, they work so damn well together.

Dope Boy - I like aspects of the song, the beat is pretty good, hook is ok. Definitely a song I can see myself skipping on most listens of the album though.

Kikdoe (featuring Violent J) - I can see some division on this song, some people will really dig it, others will probably really hate it. The beat is fantastic, there is a lot of really good, aggressive energy. Personally I do like the song, it's hard to say it's a "fun" song considering the subject matter but..yeah. J and 'dox work pretty well together too, going back and forth.

Pillin' Spree - Maybe it'll grow on me, but this is one of the weaker tracks on the album. Just doesn't really feel like it belongs. Don't care for the hook either.

Betrayal (featuring Crucifix) - Another fantastic track. I'm sure a lot of people can relate to it, great beat, great hook, Crucifix is great on here, one of the best tracks on the album.

Prophet - Also really solid. I know I've said it alot, but great beat and hook, solid wicked track.

Monster - Part of me really really wants to say this is my favorite song on the album, there is so much emotion, it's hauntingly dark and beautiful and I just really really love this track. It's amongst Boondox's best, I am putting this on the same level as Death of a Hater, for different reasons, but it's that same level of emotion and quality, just on a different side of things. Will make note that this is also a track that was released previously, and I do believe the other version is a bit different. Also worth noting that this is a cover of Meg & Dia's song of the same name, though the subject matter is a bit different between them (recommend checking it out, great song).

My Night (featuring ICP) - Not a bad track, but Monster is such a tough act to follow that almost any song would probably seem worse than it really is honestly. I guess this kinda fills the role of the party/sex song on the album. Both Boondox and ICP have done better on the subject, but it's not bad.

Black Eyed Kids - This song. Oh man this song....I think this is the song they were talking about when they said that this album was gonna be scary hahaha. I enjoyed it the first time I listened to it, but man when I flipped off the lights and turned off my monitor the second time around this song hit a whole other level. This is that dark, scary, wicked shit I love from the label. Just sitting in the dark, eyes closed, immersing myself in the music, this was absolutely amazing.

Movin' On (featuring Jelly Roll & Demi DeMaree of Villebillies) - Not really sure what to say about this one. It definitely sounds like a Boondox track, maybe something that would have fit better on The Harvest. Probably need to listen a couple more times before I can really judge it, doesn't really stand out to me in any way, good or bad.

Kill n' Tell - I'd say this is a bit of a staple kinda song for Boondox, of all the artists on the label he seems to be the one that really has a fascination with violent acts against women (be they for pleasure or otherwise), it's kinda catchy I suppose. Not nearly as good as Freak Bitch off of Krimson Creek or Love of my Knife off of South of Hell, but it's aight.

Psycho Symphony (featuring Syn of Zug Izland) - Here's a collab that I didn't realize how much I wanted until I saw that it was happening. Absolutely love Zug Izland, Syn has a fantastic, unique voice (really a love it or hate it kinda thing) and the song definitely has a bit of a Zug vibe to it at times, mixed in with the sounds I expect from Boondox. Definitely a solid closing track, though it ends a bit more abruptly than I'd like. I also wish it had a bit more of a symphonic sound, something akin to the violin from Death of a Hater, but really the song is great. I almost wish Monster was the closing track, simply because it is a more powerful song, because as good as this track is, it's not on the same level as Death of a Hater as far as closing an album.

So overall I am really really happy with the way this album turned out. There's really only a couple songs I'm eh on, a couple more that I'm more or less so-so with, and a few really really fantastic tracks, some of which I'd say are some of Boondox's best work. This definitely felt like a more emotionally charged album, several songs pulling on the right heart strings or going for a more real kinda dark mixed in with some genuinely creepy stuff. Well done Boondox, glad to have you back in the game.

Just listened to it, the worst beats and production for a Boondox album I've heard. The whole album is weak . Big fat David Hutto should just hit the gym and get a 9 to 5 if this is all he has left musically. He had forever and a day to put together a dope album.AMB hit a solid triple with Garcia Bros. Boonie hit a soft dribbler to the pitcher and his fat ass got thrown out trying to huff it down to first.laugh

I'm on track 7 right now.  It's different.  You can tell there was a different producer. Kuma and Mike P.

But anyways the back of the cd case says 2012 Psychopathic records. Thought that was interesting

I got to take a listen to it today, and overall it is a very solid album. It definitely sounds like Boondox, but sounds different than his previous albums, which shows good growth to me.

Betrayal and Movin' On stood out as two of the best to me, despite the fact that I'm not a big Jellyroll fan. I was also very impressed with the remastering of Monster. Monster is a fantastic song, and the tweaks made to the original make it even better than it already was. I liked almost everything else across the board, but I'm sure that certain ones will grow on me more as I listen to it.

It's very unfortunate that my two least favorite on the album were the ones that Violent J had his hand in. They wouldn't be bad if they were on a mixtape or something, but they don't sound like the rest of the album. Collabs only work when the final product sounds good in the main artist's album. I definitely expected more from Violent J.

Overall, thumbs up. Worth the wait, I think :-)

-Jules

I recieved my pre order of Abaddon today! This is absolutely Boondox's best work so far. Kikdoe was the weakest, but everything else was okay or amazing! Black Eyed Kids, Movin' On....2 of my favorite tracks.

"I Just Wanna Hide Inside My Own Private Hell"- Boondox

Just listened to the album on youtube and ill definitely go out and pick it up when it drops. The title track is the only one I didnt care for...I fucking loved kikdoe but the hook kinda throws it off...Crucifix and Jellyroll killed their verses and boondoxs were on point as well. Ill have to give it some time to decide if its as good as krimson creek but its definitely much better than SOH

Is the new Monster significantly different?  Because I really liked the OG one.

Hopefully not too much.

You know the absolute worst PSY remix? "Wrong with me". The CC3 version was fecal flakes compared to the og.
