Several years back, someone got into my tent and the tents of those around mine during the ICP concert and stole fucking everything. Most of my hatchetgear shirts were in there, it sucked so bad.
I don't bring expensive electronics to the gathering, and I now leave half of my stuff in the tent and the other half in my car just in case something like that happens again. I don't get a car pass because I have health issues and want the option of being able to easily leave if I needed to. (If you get a car pass, you can't go in and out of the campground obviously, but even if there was an emergency it may or may not be possible to leave because other people's cars and tents will likely block you in.)
I would mainly worry about people stealing shit during the last night.
Be friendly with your neighbors, look out for each others' stuff. I won't buy hatchetgear off of random people selling it because for all I know they just stole it from some Juggalo. Things aren't as bad at this location though, but after years at hogrock it got to the point where druggies were coming just to sell shit and fuck over all of us.

Just keep track of your stuff and don't bring your nicest stuff if you dont want it lose ruined or stolen

When I attended in 2011 some GOTJ veterans I camped with schooled me that the majority of theft each year happened during ICP's set, cause it always closed out the weekend on the Sunday night,everyone had bought their merch, and 95 percent of the people leave their campsite to go watch ICP's show, so savvy thieves knew that was the time to act.
I personally bought all my merch at the last possible moment after ICP's set, early Monday morning.
Things are different now. ICP plays on Saturday night and Bloodymania closes things out on Sunday, a lot of people already split before that.
And from what I've heard there are police on the Gathering grounds in Thornville, riding around in golf carts. Theoretically that should cut down the amount of criminal shit going on.

No one has ever rolled me, cuz they don't want to deal with me.

It all depends on the situation.
I would get my ass kicked before I "smiled nervously, while handing over my wallet and shoes" but I have too much pride.
The last time someone fucked with me they didn't take into account that their homies were bitches and would not back him up thus it turned into an unfair 3 on 1 when it should have been 3 on 3.

I think @jc has the right idea.
My take on it all is when you find your campsite, make friends with your gathering neighbors. The larger your group, the less likely you will get fucked with.
Also, I always do the car pass thing so I have a place to lock stuff up. I would suggest locking valuables up in your vehicle and keeping them with you.
And thieves should always keep in mind the consequences of steeling from people at the gathering... GOTJ 2012... It did not go over well for that thief.
