There’s a high chance that any hotel you’re at within a fifteen mile radius is going to be an offgrounds Gathering anyway right?
Why the fuck did they attack your truck? Just random drunks being random and drunk?
Yeah, the hotel will probably be packed full of Juggalos because it’s one of the closest ones, less than a 10 minute drive per Google. I seriously intend on just crashing for a few hours, showering, doing a little hair/makeup/girly stuff and being right back at it. Literally all I’m not doing on the grounds is sleeping and showering. And I can always sleep in my truck or even on the ground if I can’t drive back, or don’t want to drive back.
And I don’t think the truck was *attacked*…it was just in a prominent, busy area. People wrote stuff all over it in the dust (as they do with lots of vehicles), but apparently someone used something besides a finger to write “Fuck her in the pussy” because everything except “pussy” ended up scratched. There are scratches lengthwise all down the side that faced the road, where people were scraping against it as they walked by…beer cans, metal clasps on bags, wallet chains, whatever. And someone sprayed something onto my matte black roll pan which made it have spray paint looking shiny streaks on it. No way to repair or repaint that, so it would have to be replaced if I really felt the need. $900 was a full paint job and roll pan, since there were so many scratches that couldn’t be buffed. I think it was just people being people at the GOTJ, and stumbling into/bracing themselves on/leaning on the truck in a way that happened to damage it. No hard feelings against anyone, but I can’t be having $900 of damage every year.
It kinda comes down to…do I want to camp inside and feel anxious about the camping aspect, or do I want to fork out a little cash and get a hotel, and not deal with the anxiety, and have a better time, y’know.

From the sounds of it, I’m thinkin’ I’m glad I did all that research with maps n’shit to have picked my location. My only gripes were that the family units above me on the hill seemed to be going out of their way to route traffic away from their little setup (they had brought little kids and had a fire pit made) which only began after they (security?) removed a section of the fences that separated us from the Pendulum Stage that was there on the first day (which allowed people other option to leave the area). The other would be that my location was toward the bottom of the mountain so everything was a huge climb. Getting to and from the Main Stage was easy but EVERYTHING else was a fuckin’ hobbit’s journey… and with the seminar tent being at the TOP… ugh…!
The one bit of advice I took to heart from everyone here, is that once I got there, I made it a point to introduce myself to everyone camped out around me. I also didn’t feel bad about just using a little lock on my tent zippers. Sure it became a pain in the ass and I ultimately had to break in to my shit when I lost my keys but it made me feel a bit better about security. Not from the people around me but the random ass people being shuffled through the area.
As far as bringing my car in, I’m just gonna make sure my insurance is paid up and be mindful of where I park. Not next to a road and not near a walkway. There were a few trucks parked in what became a major thoroughfare at the top of our little gully that I’m sure took a beating. Not directly but several days worth of people brushing up and drunkenly bumping against them I’m sure added up.
I feel SO much more ready to take on this year and can NOT wait to start doing some real planning (cuz now’s too early to be freaking out).
Don’t forget! Tickets go on sale in FOUR DAYS!!!

Was one a solid black Silverado? haha We were camped at the corner where you turned to go to the Pendulum stage. Like if you were walking from the merch booth toward main stage, that street turned off to the left. I was the truck parked on that corner. When we were loading in, I thought that my truck was gonna get wrecked, for sure. People were coming down that path with the merch booth, then being made to do a sharp u-turn and go back the way they came. It was person after person after person barreling through there, u-turning and coming literally inches from smashing into the truck. God damn, I have to quit thinking about it or I’ll panic again haha

That is one thing that I enjoyed about my spot, being in a high-traffic area. However, since I was able to park behind my tent, the car was out of harm’s way. And it’s probably just sheer luck that nobody messed with our stuff, either that or it was so visibile nobody dared to, or lowering the canopy had the desired effect of steering folks away.
I’m just gonna hope to get the same spot, and probably put a little less planning into the “village” as I otherwise would.
See, my whole thing is that while I enjoyed the hell out of the performances, I enjoyed the experience tons more. I honestly would have been just as happy with the Gathering had I never left the campsite. So, it’s with that in mind that I had this grand idea in the first place. I dunno, maybe that’s just my introversion translating itself to a public setting. Also, if I know ahead of time where I’m headed, it alleviates one of the few stressful situations that detracted from the rest of the experience – by the time I found the site I was at, I was nearly ready to head back out the gate and go home, I was that irritated by the hassle I was having at finding a spot. But maybe that portion of things will be better planned this year, with Legend Valley having a Gathering under their belts now.
I don’t know, still got a lot of stuff up in the air for now, and plenty of time to flesh shit out.

@verytwiztidraven no, the vehicles were a red pickup and some other kinda silver or white car.
As entrapped was commenting on, after having had a Legend Valley Gathering under our belts, I’m sure things in general will be better received.
The one thing that really caught me off-guard (as we’ve talked about many times) was the hills. Looking at the site map and satellite views, there was NO way to have known that the place is all hill and that the roads have all those random ass rocks (even using street view doesn’t give that good an impression).
And for as much as I enjoyed my location, I agree with entrapped’s experience in that while I could SEE the road, I was out of the way and felt a little removed. Pros and Cons fer shure, but at times I wished I had been a bit closer just so that there was still people and things to see when I was crashed out in a chair at my tent. Having to get up to do any of that stuff (especially being by myself) left me standing around in odd places trying to enjoy everyone and not look like some kinda fuckin’ narc.
I definitely getting the car pass but I’m thinking I’ll bring my campsite stuff down, stake everything up and then go back up to bring the car down and find a place as close as I can. Seems fastest.

@jiffylong , So are you going this year? You need to hit up the PTS stage at the Spazmatic Hangout (or whatever they call it now). Show off some of your skill infront of an audience.
Sheeit, I wish. Prolly can’t be until a couple years. Which is good. gives me enough time to get better in two years, and then I’ll be on the main stage. Lol.

I think the consensus was that the Meetup Massacre was gonna be held at the giant strawberry this year, amirite?

Hopefully I can make it to the meet-up this year. I tried and failed last year.
That is assuming the Giant strawberry is in the same place this year. I’m thinking Bizzaro world or the Faygo Bar next to it since there are places to sit. Faygo Bar being the preferable choice since it is protected from the elements. We would have to just stand around the Giant strawberry in the sun.
@one_3rd , Don’t think like that. Not “Hopefully”. Drop that from the sentence.

There! Gawd damn!
Took a good 45min to load pages, update account info, add stuff to cart and then finally check out but… “The dishes are DONE, man!”
A couple points:
1) $10 for handling is kinda crap but I guess it’s cheaper than how TicketBastard does ya…
2) The All-Star Experience package sounded cool but it includes being “allowed” on-stage for The Armageddon…
now firstly, how are/do they stop people at *The Gathering* from jumping up there? and secondly, if I were to PAY for the privilege of being up there (and they make it sound as though they’re gonna be doing something bigger than usual this year), I’d be pretty damned pissed to see people getting up on-stage when I’d have PAID for it. Don’t get me wrong, ninja’s gonna ninja and who’s gonna tell a sexy Lette “no” but them making that a part of the package deal is MONEY and if I spent cash on it, then no one better be getting that shit “for free”… sorry n’shit.
3) Mailing out June 1st?! I bought the shits *now so that I wouldn’t have to worry *then! Talk about not leaving yourself much room to fix a problem should one arise. But whatever. At least my order is first day and I’m sure they do it as received….
Anyway, it’s done! I’ll get to see you all again this year!
Whoop Whoop’s all around!
