Ron left the Gathering a day early last year. I’m not aware of any reason he was “kicked out”. Ron’s my friend. I like that guy.

My distaste for your style was born in JNC pre ’07 and refined in the comedy tent ’08 and beyond. You just don’t make me laugh. But you know a thousand times better than me how comedy works, it’s difficult to put into words. You just don’t invoke that visceral reaction inside of me. It’s plainly subjective and there is no accounting for taste. Taste is an ever changing sense though. I can’t promise to like it, but if you can post a link I will give your show a spin. I respect you posting here and have accepted you are tenured in as far as GOTJ goes. If I could ask you one question, this does make me curious:

How do you feel about the hate you get? Do you somewhat embrace it like a wrestling heel would, or does it genuinely boggle your mind or even hurt you a little? I’m just curious, i’m not trying to troll you. I don’t know how I would feel if I was in your shoes.

I also think sum of the hate comes from ur clowny appearance its could come across as mocking idk just throwin stuff out there u seem like a nice Guy but i also dont find u funny sorry but ive only seen u twice

That’s fair, I guess. What I do at the Gathering is more of an MC thing and not what I do in my actual comedy act that I perform everywhere else. I have done a full set at the Gathering – when Jimmy Walker no-showed  – and it went over pretty good. I also think I’m good on the radio. I’m sure someone could post a link to the Funhouse here, and I also host my own podcast on joelradio.net that I’ve done for 8+ years.

As for the haters, it is more mind boggling than anything else, because I think I’ve really helped the Gathering raise its game in the comedy department, and last year was an excellent example of that. I also think there’s a lot of behind the scenes stuff that I do that nobody knows about, and I’d get more respect for those things if people knew what those things were.

And, as I mentioned, there are people who start rumors that don’t know what they’re talking about. If somebody believes those things then they could hate me, but they’re not true! 

If you talked to me for even a little bit, I think you’d think I was a cool guy with a great job, who’s humble and grateful that I get to perform as I do.

Well first of all cuz you are & second of all, your show was weak & it needed sum1 to call in & spice things up cuz youre not fkn funny. 

I looked over your site. It does look interesting as far as content goes, I think I’ll give “Mork Mocks Me” a go. You do have a point that I have really only seen you in an emcee type capacity… if I can find footage of your Walker fill-in set I’ll check that dyn-o-mite out too. On topic, I met Jimmy Walker at a hotel once and he came off like a huge a-hole. Comedians… am I right?
