alot of people are so used to how big the label is now, but the label and juggalo movement was only able to grow with addition of twiztid. before that ICP toured with random rock groups like coal chamber and nashville pussy and random ass rappers. they were like that almost their whole career up until 2000.
Psychopathic Records wasnt really a record label back in the day, it was just a name, they were distributed by jive and hollywood records when they became national.they were just a group puttin out cds and touring. thats it.
There was no juggalo community, there was no gathering…. it wasnt until 2000 when freek show dropped that psychopathic became a label with a roster. twiztid has mostasteless and freekshow and psychopathic expanded when twiztid also brought in blaze and later ABK.
Once twiztid was getting respect as their own group and not understudys, then psychopathic split the touring between icp and twiztid. that grabbed a ton of fans. and the fans took to twiztids look with the braids and all the lingo they brought to the table. once they had a decent roster they went indy again but they had a national audience.
without twiztid ICP would just be a dope group who made cds and had fun shows. with twiztid, blaze, abk they were able to give fans so much music, that juggalos became a cult movement in underground music. you bought all the cds from the artists, they had cool t shirts for multiple bands.
psychopathic became a powerhouse and we all saw the rise of violent j's power in the underground. jumpsteady said lets do our own festival cuz they had enough bands, fans and connections to other groups to pull it off. the gathering is huge now cuz it generates money and all these washed up mainstreamers come thru cuz its a big festival of music fans. but i got into ICP back then becuz they would diss the mainstream and we had our own scene, now the gathering is filled with people like mc hammer and ice t. its nothin like it was suppose to be. i dont remember bumpin the early shit and being like, man i wanna see mc hammer live.
now with twiztid leaving, its the first time ICP will be the only big act on the label with all the pressure of keeping the scene alive and with the way the music has been going i wouldnt be suprised if it they start cutting back on things cuz the money wont be the same.
new fans just dont get it, ICP was a cool shock value group who had some crazy music. the juggalo scene has gotten bigheaded thinkin it was always this way when it was totally different when they dropped cassettes and toured in small places, there was no sight of a juggalo family movement or a gathering, as far as the music,i love the classics just not sure if ICP can run it alone music wise. they can pump merch and 3 copies of cds all day, but thats for collecting or as i say “juggalo hoarding.

the only thing i hate about the juggalo shit today, its all about buying merch and family. theres no emphasis on making really good music. the music was always put first. i know they need money, and are good at bizness but some of us just want a good cd that we can bump for the next 15 years lol not one listen thru and its poo and collects dust.
it was so hard to pick betwen bizzar with “tilt a whirl”, bizarre with “lets go all the way” and twiztid with “we dont die” when they came out on halloween. i wanted them all at once! the net was poppin with free downloads and shit, there wasnt a huge juggalo family out there, u had to buy the disk and play that shit thru. i paid like 60 bucks total for those albums and im still playin those cds all the way thru cuz they were really focused on good music. after they put tales from the lotus OG, and one less G in the hood i bought my first hatchetman shirt cuz i was proud of their music as a label. i got friends who love the first 2 rydas cd cuz they were aggressive, and had flow, bottomline. it showed me that they were capable of making good music for anybody, but after “miracles” i cant help but go WTF????
we just want some wicked ass ICP music, insane clown posse needs to stop tryin to be politically correct, its not wat their music was about. remember dark lotus when j said “im a enrole in columbine and finish the fuckin job” wow! that was so taboo when he said that in 2001, but thats wat they were about, shock value. but dark lotus did have track 15 “juggalo family” on it and became the anthem that started the family movement.

^^^Troublemaker just hit the nail on the head! ICP was a dark shock rap group. And it was fucking cool. Marilyn Manson, Korn, Limp Bizkit, ICP where all in the same circle. of fans. ICP then distanced itself from that rock crowd. And then tried meshing in with full on rap. they alienated part of their fanbase that helped propel them.

10 YEARS AGO WHEN VIOLENT J SUPPOSEDLY UPPED HIS GAME AND REACHED THE PEAK
Have you ever had a job that you truly dispise?
Like I dunno maybe dishwashing or fuckin flipping fries
Then you got this boss who thinks he's the don mega
Cause he the head manager Cheap chili fry maker
All you could vision is ya'll beating him down
Your homies standing on his back while your kicking his head around
But responsibility is there, I can't lie tho
I would a been plucked his fucking eyeball out with a chicken bone
Crazy as fuck I’ll rip your peircings off
And now my homies are holding me back so I don’t look soft
1 YEAR AGO WHEN VIOLENT J SUPPOSEDLY LOST HIS FLOW
they call me captain creepa tappin out ya speakas
I'm crackin slappin divas my pack attack like cheetas
Those two bars lyrically kill and flow better than anything they have done 10 years ago.
Disagreement would just be purely delusional.
Though MDP didn't have many songs that flowed that well.
I do agree with that one fuck though, I do wish they'd stop being politically correct. As long as I still like the music though, it doesn't matter. Even though I love the dark shock value wicked shit the best, I do have a diverse set of taste buds on my musical tongue.

lol syllable count is far from the highest form of lyricism.. i havent listened to icp in a minute but im sure theres somethin theyve done in the past 10 yrs that can out-do those 2 bars.. hell his ability to stay on subject on so many tracks on “the shining” impresses me much more… let me listen to some icp & get back to you on that one haha

when u live in southern california like me, we never heard of ICP cuz they were playin shows in places like detroit and dallas handing out samplers from their car trunk…….Im Not Gonna lie and say i heard of ICP when ringmaster or riddlebox was first released cuz it makes u more down or cooler, the truth is you had to be in the midwest to even hear their shit, there was no internet scene, music was handed around thru actual cds and tapes. And To Me and Alot of Juggalos, It really doesnt matter wat year or era u got into them, all that matters is u like them for the right reason such as good music, fuck that family bullshit, u guys arent my family, u wouldnt help me if i was homeless and dont expect that from me or anyone at psychopathic, its just good music thats created a counter culture of oddities.
The Truth is Most people only heard of ICP when they went national in '97 with the Milenko controversy. But “Amazing Jeckyl Bros” was big breakout album too cuz everyone was talkin about “fuck the world” cuz in the 90s a track like that was shocking lol.
But when bizzar and freekshow dropped, the scene was developing big time and world wide. They had ICP and Twiztid on music video channels during an era where bands like Bizkit, Korn, Slipknot, POD, Powerman 5000, Godsmack were on TV! Music Videos were a huge thing, even small bands could sell 500,000 copies which was considered a flop lol cuz backstreet boys went 5x platinum. People really bought cds in that era. we almost got ICP on TRL just to show the world how we love their music, and that was the spot 4 music and culture at the peak of popular music. now with the internet its easy to get everything and act like u were down since 94 which means u have to be like fuckin 40 years old. i got each CD one by one as they were re released nationally and understood their music.

and flick it in your eye, like you ain't jack
and stomp my boots on your nut sack
well you know I'm comin straight from tha trailer park
that's me out front working on the skylark
I'm waiting on a check, I don't cut the grass
and my women's got babies fallin' all out her ass

lyrics on paper, are one thing. But its about creating an overall good song. Good subject, wordplay is cool but its about overall delivery. the song as a package is wat truly matters at the end of the day. i dont wanna read lyrics and say Oh My God hes a wordsmith. id rather sing “die mothafucka die” from twiztid then sit and try 2 analyze a verse from Pharoe Monch. gimme “the stalker” from Beverly kills. just a rugged beat and cool delivery. i dont know wat “cartoon nitemares” means, never did, but “there's an arm in my trunk, an arm in my trunk” is catchy lol, u just wanna sing it.
esham nailed it when he pointed out to violent J that taking the cheap root on “The Calm” EP to make his own beats lowered the overall quality of their product cuz they arent beat makers. thats why tech n9ne hasnt worked with them cuz sometimes they took the cheap route instead of payin out for beats and tech n9ne works with tons of artists, but icp hasnt been bringin heat this whole time tech came around.
twiztid was guilty of this too. alot of people loved their verses on “green book”, “for the family” EP, and “Mirror Mirror” but the fans questioned the beats and mixing from fritz, but fritz was dope on freek show cuz they had major label mixing and mastering from island / def jam. once they went indy, fritz and his beats came thru kindda weak, it took twiztid a while to get back on the production tip, and mono did an amazing job on the beats for “heartbroken and homicidal”, i couldnt believe most of those were produced by mono.
i know i type alot but i cant help it. i can go on for days cuz psychopathic music is a part of my life and i see all sides and hear everyones opinions.

really?? the engineering on H&H was great but i thought that album was by far their worst beat selection thus far… nothin on that shit was fuckin with fritz imo..
