Only one? Still, respectable.

All 1200s have an S arm unless you mod. It’s like saying I have a Porsche 911 with four wheels. They all have four wheels. You got a cork mat? If not, get your ass a cork mat. That plus what you have is a good start. If you don’t have an arm level you might want to grab one. A couple of bucks very well spent. Cheers.

I know it’s redundant to mention the S shape but it was to really drive the point home to JohnMilenko about why I even bother with vinyl. I clarified back here, why in my opinion the S shape is better overall.

So skeptics like him wondering why I would even listen to vinyl hopefully understands the emphasis on the S shape tonearm. For me, it’s way better. That is why I choose to listen to vinyl. An S arm and a shibata needle really help with IGD. As for the cork mat, I will surely look into getting one. I assume it helps dampen things like vibrations/resonance from the motor underneath. I would hate to say goodbye to an S shape arm. From what I found out years ago, VPI turntables isolates the motor to reduce the vibrations and resonance from having a motor underneath the turntable.

In my view, you can’t go wrong with an isolated motor and an S shape.

Give me an S shape arm and strap it onto a turntable like this:

That would be my ultimate dream-come-true turntable. Of course it would have a super expensive shibata needle on it. Some of the turntable setups on here basically had me salivating when I first saw them on this page:

I do tend to wonder about those high tech and expensive ones with a linear tonearm for maximum tracking accuracy.

Of course, there will be others who have things to say about the linear tonearms as well.
