J said in an interview that 90s icp was grittier because they sucked and couldn’t make clean music. He views their music as pop music and he wants it to sound clean and crisp.
Honestly i don’t want an album that sounds exactly like the old shit. It won’t be as good no matter how hard they try. Even if they found old milenko beats that they thought were lost, it wouldn’t be the same because there’s an emotional attachment to the old shit that lifts it up to be better in our minds than it actually is.
You gotta learn to let go of expectations and ride with change.
Or get used to only bumping 20 year old music.

I just find the more modern mixing of a lot of music to be more abrasive on the ear. Necro does it too. The vocals really over power the beats. In the 90s and early 2000s it sounded like every stem had its own pocket and it fit together nicer. Like I said, they do it the way they do it on purpose so its all good. Just my opinion and tastes.

Can you bring this back? Where’s Mike? His facebook hasn’t been updated in a long while and I thought he was done with the Kid Rock tour late summer sometime. I’m hoping for some more music from Mike and ICP. Disappointed with the Hallowicked 2016 song ( again ).

well since YW had to give the President of Psy daughter the herps, And is no longer with the company, One would assume MEC would be back in town. Really beyond paying multiple producers what in house producers are left? Kuma? His remixes blows so I doubt they would devote an entire Jokers Card to him. It only makes sense to get Mike E Clark back. Mike P is really limited. J will soon be in a depression and will gain 600 pounds.Get the fucker back on board.

we probably coulda picked up on the spite without the giant letters.
they actually make you seem sorta plagued with giddy desperation, in a way.
just sayin. carry on.
[addendum] for the record, i want to see mike clark return cuz i want to see mike clark icp albums. soap operas and trash talk amongst fans dont enter into it.

Mike E will be back as soon as Kid Rock gets tired of him, which considering how good the dude is at his job, probably won’t be for awhile.
I use to have a preference over who produced them but the past few years have shit all over my preferences. Sometimes Seven does good work with em, sometimes he doesn’t, sometimes Young Wicked does, sometimes he doesn’t, etc. etc. Dunno what the “it” factor is for them but I don’t think it’s who’s producing them anymore.
Realistically it’s a million other boring things that all factor in. Did they get stuck in traffic on the way to the studio? They’re probably gonna end up writing more pissed off songs. Listened to the shitty local rap station in the car? They’re probably gonna write a “trap” song then.

You would think the ? Would get brought up in interviews.
Then again we would probably get the Violent J politician answer of answering a question so vaguely it does not really get answered.
How about an interview with MEC, Can’t remember the last time I’ve seen one with him. Kid rocks tour ended in scruffy’s moms bed room a couple months back so like Scruffys mom, his scheduled should be wide open.
Food for thought.

Kuma’s remixes off of The Wraith are some of the best highlights of the entire album(s). Completely different style for ICP that actually blends well.
I like Kuma’s shit.
Actually, after listening to all of the (actually very few) producers that worked with ICP over time, I don’t think any of them are TERRIBLE. They wouldn’t produce their shit if they sucked.
I talked shit on Otis for years, and still do actually, but he impressed me quite a bit with production and some choruses on The Missing Links. He is a competent producer.

chuck miller was terrible, and sucked.
who else…? bound to be more. most have had a track or two that was terrible, but i dont think thats what youre gettin at.

im not sure i can say i was ‘impressed’, so much as… dunno… not bothered by it, maybe? in some instances.
so far, though, i thought he was most impressive as hoodoos backup singer. that was great.
[edit] *
ya know what id really like to see? mike clark remixes for the rest of the wraith stuff. especially an mec unveiling.
as well as basicly anything else he felt like remixing.
murder mix 3 would be nice, as well. but im just distracting myself, at this point.

I always thought part of the reason of relasing a new Wraith album with a good bunch of it “re-produced” by MEC was to satiate the many folks who were upset at his absence from THE SIXTH FUCKING JOKERS CARD!! As much as I love both Wraiths, and I really do on an emotional level, I still think that fuck, MEC did ALMOST ALL OF THE FIRST FIVE ALBUMS +! It was a weird turning point.
Scruffol, chill… just know that in many countless multiverses, The Wraith was made with MEC instead of MP.
Shit, in some multiverses, there are Wraiths done with a teenaged, pimply Otis behind the boards.

Kuma?!? He turned the Chris Benoit remix in to a joke. It was on some dancehall type shit.
Only time I like other production other than MEC is when these stand-Ins try to imitate the vibe he set forth with the original jokers cards.
If you really are feeling ICP on some edm vibe, other than a random song here and there, you probably became a fan recently.
I understand they need to appease a current fan base, its a business, but you can bring in new talent/producers for that. ICP needs to stick to what they know AND a certain sound.
How people can not see MEC IS the actual 3rd member of the group is unreal. With out Mike I doubt they would still be a viable record label. 95% of an ICP show is classics he made.
Break the bread accordingly with the man. Sheeeesh.

Switching things up on a remix album in an interesting fashion is too risque? Okay, then.
And yes, they WERE random songs or two. It was a few remixes, Christ.
Plus, Kuma does great on The Mud, Water, Air and Blood.
I’ve be- sigh…. ahem… I’ve been “DOWN” since I heard Joker’s Wild in a trailer in upstate NY circa 1997. Been to over a dozen ICP shows, if you don’t include their Dark Lotus and Rydas and guest spots… met them, talked with them and got some great photos with them at the first GOTJ in 2000. I have had a Lotus tattoo on my back since I was 17 (I’m 32 now)…. are we really doing this?

well, thats surely true of a riddle box show.
hallowicked the other night: 21 of 25 mike clark… 84%.
close, but not real close.
ive seen lower ratios than that… but lets not get bogged down in numerology.
bottom line, i dont need more otis, or mike p… ill take seven or kuma if thats as good as it gets…
but mike clark is and, to me, always has been, the difference maker of them all. his shit elevates icp, the others hardly ever attained that. at best, they occasionally ‘live up to’ icp.

i agree, I spose..
With all the other producers, you can hear them ‘producing’… like they want to stand out from the two Clown Boys, themselves.
MEC just blended into the two Clown Boys.. it was excellent but part of the whole sound. Not background, per se, but just living along with the words and experience. Like in the liner notes of an older ICP album, it said something like:
“Mike E. Clark. Homie. If we didn’t have you, it would sound like someone stuffed a microphone up their butt and fell down the stairs and then made a rap to the sounds it made.”
He didn’t blend, really.. he didn’t stand out either….
he enhanced the music. Simultaneously subtle and epic.
The Ringmaster through the Great Milenko, and even Amazing Jeckel Brothers, while I still prefer The Wraith to the latter, those 2-4 albums are so fucking INSANE CLOWN POSSE that I simply can’t imagine anyone else producing them.
So yes, I agree
