I don’t want to hear mec and icp back together unless mec steps it the fuck up. House of wax’s beats were horrible. I don’t understand where this guy even went for real, look at all the old shit he made compared to now, the sound is completely different, it’s boring and dull.

I disagree about House Of Wax’s production, It was pretty good in my opinion. But you can’t deny either MEC beats have been a tad dull lately, which is why it was nice to hear a few different producers on TMML albums. Mainly Otis, who did some outstanding work. “Flamethrower”, “I Fucked a Cop”, “Lost at the Carnival”, “No More Jail” etc. The guy has a talent for producing music, no doubt.

Flamethrower is the ONLY track I still listen to off of Lost.

Flamethrower was a nice “Dark” ICP song. Phantom was the perfect blend of old/new school imho . House of Wax sounded like MEC threw them a CD with left over beats and said take what you want. TMDP was perfect for what it was…mocking pop songs.Any one who argues it was not the best Card of the second deck is most probably being challenged by Highlight magazines. MEC goes deeper than just production he actually produces and gets the best out of J and 2Dope in terms of quality and concepts. TMML really could be consolidated in to one disc, they both had a shit ton of filler tracks.

Fuck man, I LOVE Lost, Neighbors Are Fighting is one of my favorite songs. Fuck shit up.

But MEC, yes, I just found his SoundCloud page with his instrumentals, Jacobs Word instrumental, and a couple other beats that I don’t know if they were used. Cool shit.

maybe.

but then, i feel like most of the missing link era has been exactly like this.  theyve pointed out that lately theyve been recording over finished beats, instead of building the songs organically.

for example, im positive that there are many beats on lost, found, outtakes, and/or phantom, that were meant for killjoy club.

TMDP was perfect for what it was…mocking pop songs.Any one who argues it was not the best Card of the second deck is most probably being challenged by Highlight magazines. nicely put.

im starting to think that death pop will go down in history as their most massively underrated project.

TMML really could be consolidated in to one disc, they both had a shit ton of filler tracks.

yup.  but once you consolidate, you got cd worth of dopeness, customized by your own ears for yourself.

can do the same thing with death pop era stuff, bang pow boom era stuff…  basicly any era since bizbiz.

Christ, man. Your font size spazzes my phone the fuck out.

As far as filler tracks, you’re absolutely right. I think Shaggy said in some interview that it was a last minute decision to make TMML into two different albums when it was originally only going to be one but maybe I just dreamed that up or something. Either way, as one album, it’s pretty solid but as two it gets boring and repetitive real fast. To my ears anyway.

Scruffy nailed it!

Yes! ICP and MEC BUILD songs together and kick ideas off one another and the finished product is quality music.

You can tell what was rushed and what had the man hours put in. For gods sake J stated he didn’t smoke the entire Death Pop sessions and drank herbal tea! Since twizted kicked rocks Its awesome they only want to focus on the group but if it means quantity over quality I think they should take their time and deliver a solid project.

Times change and so does the sound of music I understand that, Ones entire mentality changes over time but unless Clark is producing for them I fear it will just be them trying to clone what they had with him.

I really do think MEC is ICP’s Missing Link.

It is? Hmmm okay.

I’ll be honest, I’ve never liked MDP that much. Too much filler, lame lyrics, wasted guest spots and seemingly unfinished songs. Everything from the intro to “The Blasta” was alright. But when it got to “Kickin’ Kickin'” , the rest of the album went down hill FAST. “Shooting Stars” could have been so much better, but then it ends so abruptly you’re like, “wait, it’s over? that sucks”. And how the fuck could they choose to put “Hate Her To Death” on the main album and not “Playin’ In The Woods”? They explain in the credits on MEC’s Extra Pop Emporium that there was a lot of back and forth on which of the two songs would get put on the main album, and somehow they thought “Hate Her To Death” was better. Ugh. No, it really isn’t in my opinion. “Playin’ In The Woods” is way better. Then “Skreeem” happened. My god what an annoying song, and a waste of Tech N9ne and Hopsin’s talents. How about “When I’m Clownin'”? It wasn’t enough they actually put this GARBAGE on a Joker’s Card, no, they actually made several different versions of the fucking song, and it got a music video too! Good fucking lord! And “Daisies”? Please tell me what it was about. Anyone?

“Night Of The Chainsaw”, “Bazooka Joey”, and “The Blasta” are the only songs from MDP I actually liked. “Lost In The Music” should have had “Skreeem”s place on the main album. And now I will get hazed for this, I’m sure.ya-rightf-u

daisies is a post apocalyptic story about how life persists.

The whole album has two basic themes: life is short so don’t waste it and nothing lasts forever.

I think death pop is their strongest work conceptually and thematically it is their tightest. Everything just works so well. Except kickin kickin which i can’t wrap my head around how they can write sick a boring ass song about ninjas.

And i think putting hate her to death on the main album was a mistake Because so many people seem to misinterpret It as them venting their own heart breaks but i think their point was about how if you let your negative emotions consume you you’ll end up destroying the things/people you love.

I think playing in the woods is dope, and so is lost in the music.

I love the death pop and the bonus discs.

None of the new deck really compares to the original six. Not saying I don’t like the new ones but I’m still trying to figure out the clowns…direction? On this deck. They talk much less about the dark carnival…if at all.  MMFWCL

mdp took three years to record an album with an hour long song, remix album and the exrta  album . those beats  were left overs

mec had.. bpb took i think 3-5 months to record   creativity is a switch either its on or off. no matter who the producer. mml was a 3o sumthin track  broke up in 3 . they didnt have to do the outakes. but they did and they had dope tracks on theyre all the way around it was a solid from the concept and the album, nothing against twiztid but they had 3 years to make a 9 track album without all the skits inbetween. they shoudl of just saved  the new nightmare get twzitid and the darkness and put it all together

Bang Pow Boom is the best of the 2nd deck so far. It’s a really fun album, I can honestly say I liked BPB from the first spin of it. But Christ man, even that was 6-7 years ago now…

Go and listen to MEC’s soundclick page with his beats that the guy posted up above, his beats hit so much harder than now a days. now it sounds like everything is totally compressed, the drums don’t even sound anything like that. If he went back to those drums and them type of sounds I think his music would be dope. My biggest gripe with ICP’s music is the vocals are over top of EVERYTHING and everything underneath it is compressed like hell. Like to me, it just sounds like a beat is low underneath it and the vocals are right up on top of it outshining everything, nothing hits hard. I can’t stand that sound with ICP.

MEC’S beats used to be so dope, I really don’t understand what happened :( I do want him back, but I want him to return to the original sound he brought not this shit he’s putting out now. If you listen to house of wax then listen to those beats there’s a huge difference. They just sound wack as all hell

He used to sample drum breaks a lot more, not programmed. A lot of the programmed ‘clean’ drums sound souless and sterile compared to say the drums that were used on Riddlebox and Milenko.

That and mix the vocals a bit lower so they sit IN the beat not rap over it. I like that method a lot more. But I’m not the artist here so the sound they have is what they want for whatever reason.
