What happens at the gathering stays at the gathering……. until it ends up on FLH… Whomp whomp.

But for real though, thanks for pointing that out OCJ. I didn’t even notice the “a” instead of “e”. I believe I was drinking the night I read shaman’s post. Just went back and read it, he even called me sweetcarlbrain…… Hmmm…… Don’t really know what to say about that.

Thanks?

Well aren’t I just an asshole. Took the purple meetup shirt off your back and your lover off your backside. I had no clue.

Turning into a soap opera around here. Hope there’s some scantily clad, busty women like in the Hispanic ones. Can’t understand a word but damn do I stay erect and attentive.

On a serious note, can we get back to the card game? I’m loving it

i beat my step son last weekend…… score was 54 gp to 52 gp. Closest game yet. Little Lo picked up the game quick as shit

You get a billion OCJ points for shutting me down and still getting the thread back on topic. OCJ points have no real value and infact will cause his trolls to include you in the Scruffy Illuminati theories but you earned them none the less lolgetclowned

On Topic: I am really regretting forgetting to get this without shipping.  I am probably going to get it when my bonus drops this week or next. If your stepson can pick it up theres even hope for me lol.

Props to you for replying so quickly. I had to wait over a week for our boy @bayareashaman to respond. How can there be a love triangle without the rest of the tripod?!

Btw can I use my valueless ocj points to derail the thread once again? I know the answer is irrelevant but I assume I am already a part of the scruffy illuminati. He was the first member of the forum I talked to this year which led me to joining!!! Dun dun dunnnnnnn. Insert dramatic gopher or whatever it’s called.

Sidenote, I always wanted to see the song “the staleness” music video go; “but was it the real violent j?!” Followed by dramatic gopher clip.  A man can dream

so, i finished the game i had goin with myself.  i lost, but one the other hands i was playin won, so that took the sting off.

believe the score was 65-57-37.  the other two mes kinda ganged up on the first me.

game is good, real intuitive.

might as well start right off with ‘advanced play’, since its not all that advanced.  basicly, just one more class of card.

if you cant pick up the flow of things in the first four or five hands, you must be one of those people that needs a major domo [or a nanny] to handle everything for you.

kinda wish we had taken time to sit around playin at the gathering…  but, probably woulda ended up suckin too much time away.

Is there some legitimate strategy to building a deck?

I could only play a game by myself up to the point where you can begin to “afford” to start picking up Stomp cards. Cuz at that point, how does one proceed? Ya gonna trick yourself into not knowing and then not using Stomp cards against yourSELF?

But I did manage to play a game against another person and take a whack at how to go about teaching someone else how to play.

After the first few rounds, the rules really should fall in place for anyone if you just tell them what to do (being that both players start with the same kinda cards (ninjas and hound dogs). Then the cards themselves pretty much do the rest of the teachin’ as it just begins to expand on what you are finally able to do once you get more cards to draw from.

As far as varying strategies, Scruffy is right, there are several. To list them would mean giving them away but include (not limited to) going straight for karma cards first or holding out for items or buying up cards for their crew associations and the benefits thereof etc…

I think what can be a bit tricky for the casual player is when the game gets along to a point where a player can string together a whole shitload of cards at once, getting Unity Benefits to draw cards that in turn let you draw more cards and then tell you to roll on the wheel that gives you enough karma to buy some shit that has some effect that lets you play a card from somewhere else and so on…  And THAT is why this is a smart fuckin’ game! The system let’s you be creative as fuck with all kinds of choices without breaking (so far).

I just wish they would have made it clearer that when a cards effect tells you to “Draw A Card” that they would have been more specific as to FROM WHERE… (which we found to always be from your personal deck unless specifically told otherwise).

Anyway… I need to challenge a real player now. Otherwise, I’m stuck teaching people to play over and over and won’t get past that learning curve stage of opponent.

hey, we could do a play-by-email/text/phone version…

…but you would have to believe me when i told you what card you just drew.

The game is fun as hell and addicting for sure. Been playing at least 1-2 games a day all week with hope and occasionally others. Pretty easy to pick up once you get the hang of it. I would suggest using a little whiteboard or notepad or something in the later rounds to help keep track. I mean a LOT can go on in a single round with drawing various cards, the wheel, benefits and shit like that. Hell hope had a round that by the end had used her entire deck and had like 35 karma to work with. Notes help!

Looks like someone saw fit to blow up the Echoside website.

The whole thing is down as if they gave up the domain…?

I had thought of that too but then the other player would have to keep fishing out all the cards from the various decks to populate the board every time something needed replacing… and seeing as each card is played individually… that’d be the longest game ever played by anyone ever… other than a full game of Monopoly where no one quits.

or just remember.  or write it down.  or go with the referees word, which youd have to, anyway.  et cetera.

and seeing as each card is played individually…

true, but it only matters when an opponent is holdin stomps.

im not at all really tryin to do this, by the way.  other than the novelty of it, theres no reason to.  might as well just run a game against yourself.

that’d be the longest game ever played by anyone ever… other than a full game of Monopoly where no one quits.

i dont remember takin more than about, say, two hours, tops, to finish a monopoly game.  not in the last thirty years, anyway.

when my dad was still alive, we would play on planes or whatever, no board.  he had it down so cold, all we needed was random number generator [dice] and the chance cards.  uh, and the community chest cards.  the rest, he had fully memorized.

well, marathon games do run pretty long.

but then, usually half the players quit before their first or second turn, when they realize there are more players playing than monopolies to own.

  awfully paranoid, arent you?
