We don’t know for sure, but I suspect the real problem is that only ICP and Twiztid draw enough to make money off of.  Maybe PSY is being stingy… but maybe the bigger problem is that artists like YW, Boondox, etc. don’t make much money for anybody.

I did a little research on the internet and found an example of revenues and expenses for a metal band that sells 500 tickets per night over a 1 month tour.  So, let’s say Blaze, Boondox, and YW do a tour together.  How many tickets do they sell per show?  I’d say 100 at the absolute most.  The metal band was getting $2k per show selling 500 tickets plus $750 in merch, so that should mean our guys get $400 selling 100 tickets per show, plus let’s say $400 in merch, for a total of $800 per show.  Times 30 shows equals $24k for the tour.

As for expenses, the metal band paid $11,350 for vehicle, gas, hotels + $3000 in per diems for band and crew + $11k in salaries for 4 crew + $3500 for gear.  Maybe Blaze YW and Boondox can cut this to $9 grand for vehicle/gas/hotel via cheaper hotels, and a smaller crew so 8k crew salary and 2k per diem, with only $1.5k spent on gear.  The metal band also paid $26k in Merch costs and agent/management commissions, but shit let’s say MNE is very generous and our guys only pay merch costs of $3k.

Our tour expenses add up to $23.5k.  Which leaves Blaze, Boondox, and YW clearing only $500 between the three of them.  Hope they like living on Jamie’s couch.

I’m sure some of these numbers are off, but I doubt they’re too far off as a whole.  I think the bottom line is that if you can’t get at least a couple hundred people to buy tickets to your shows, you aren’t even making enough to support yourself.  I don’t think anyone on the PSY or MNE roster is drawing much more than 200 per show on their own except ICP and Twiztid.  So ICP can put those bands on the label, bring em on tour and pay em shit for the few extra tickets they sell.  But that’s about the best their gonna do.

To make the point in a shorter way, an actual metal band that sold 500 tickets per night ona one month tour pulled in $82.5k in tickets, had $54.5k in expenses, leaving $28k in profit.  If you figure you got 2 band members and you can tour 4 months out of the year, that means you make $56k each.  So basically anyone who’s selling a couple hundred tickets or less for their shows isn’t making shit.

I’ve always wondered how the smaller players are able to live without having a second job. Pretty sure ABK works at a QuickStop during the day.

I’ve been saying this!  I’m pretty sure everyone besides ICP and Twiztid (maybe even Blaze) have some kind of 2nd/side hustle.  I know for a fact that the ROC DJ’s at local bars and does weddings n shit.  Who knows, you may call Uber one day and BOOM there’s fuckin ABK drunk looking at you smiling.

Back in the day like ’05 ’06 Prozak had these Wickedstocks usually in Saginaw or Detroit….anyway, I sat at the bar with Lavel for about 2 hours and chopped it up.  Basically what he said, “if you aint ICP you aint making any kind of real money to live on”.  I was asking him about music and production tips on Pro Tools and beat making shit.  But he was going on and on about not making any money….it was kinda sad.  I kept buying him yager shot after yager shot!  lol

I mean c’mon we’ve all heard the stories about PSY not paying anyone.  Does this really come to a surprise to anyone…..my god!  Jumpsteady just said on the Juggalo Show “and we just gave him a 5 dollar an hour raise”  So YW worked hourly!!??!?  if that’s the case then it was prolly on some $9-$11 per hour type shit, like just above minimum wage.  He said he’d be in there all day mixing and recording…I dunno fuck that!

Billy, Jump, Joe and Joey prolly account for about 85% of what comes in, the 15% that’s left over gets sprinkled over the office and warehouse workers.

I’d love to see W-2 forms from PSY employees…..and all the artists.  Just always been real curious on how much money they made.  that is all.

While sifting through all of this information, if anyone needed an “example” as to what does or does not fall into the category of “None of your god damned, motherfuckin’, cocksuckin’ business!!!”….  ^^^^^ That there would be one of them on the list.

Juggalos can be a demanding bunch. At Hogrock I got to ignore someone screaming “SHOW ME YOUR CERVIX!” Good times. cool

Glad you caught that slip too. A lot of what Jump said was slippery as fuck.

If I had to guess that’s a producers rate. For better or worse, YW was wearing a lot of hats at Psychopathic before things got quiet about him. It’s quite possible that one of em paid hourly and producing makes the most sense.

I’ve always assumed that Psychopathic has a “make what ya work for” attitude. Like, they don’t really pay their artists at all other than an initial check for signing to the label. They give X amount towards the artists’ tours/studio time/etc. and it’s up to the artist to turn that into profit. Everything they’ve said (and intentionally not said) in interviews over the years implies as much.

It would also explain why Twizzler blew up after FreekShow and ABK still hasn’t. One of them busts their ass and the other one…does not seem to work quite as hard.

We know Otis has been getting paid peanuts.

Sucks Young Wicked had to sleep on a cot, and survive on chicken feed, all this time grinding it up the ladder at PSY.

Bet a lot of us have earned more money than him in the last few years.

Oh well, at least he made a bunch of dope music while he was there!

Yeah.  Last year I went to Twiztid’s spooktacular in Houston and the riddle box tour in ft. Worth.

Probably safe to say the venue for riddle box had double the capacity of the venue twiztid had.

Spooktacular still had some tickets at the door even though the line up was easily a lot better on paper ( Lex, Blaze,  the roc, twiztid,  Mac lethal , godz of khaos and some very well liked local Juggalo artists like sej. )

Riddle box was sold out as was the after party with just ( ICP,  young wicked, razakel and some no name locals).

I mean honestly I think they all draw shit crowds from time to time except icp and twiztid.  But ICP alone can easily draw more people then the entire mne roster I think.

I’ve been to both ICP and Twiztid shows where there were under 200 people in attendance.

2010, was it The Old Shit Tour? I think it was. New York almost always got Psychopathic shows in the sphincter of winter. Almost always a frigid outside line of fun.

Almost always on a work night. Like Tuesdays, Thursdays.

This was The Armory in Rochester, NY. After AMB and Dayton Family left, I swear there were even less for ICP. A bunch of Juggalos and Jugglalettes huddled up at the front of a freezing, capacious armory room. It’s a humongous venue.

I had a blast. I read a review from a fellow Juggalo that was in attendance at the same show, and had the exact opposite experience that I did. Ah well.

Twiztid, Blaze and ABK (Zug Izland didn’t show)…. in Raleigh, NC. The Brewery. A small bar type joint. Less than 200, easy. Realistically, maybe 120 tops. About the same as the ICP show.
