Wow, pleasntly surprised! I didn’t like WTF and Fury that much so I was sceptical but maaaaan it’s really good. Turns out Str8jacket captures Dark Carnival feel much better than late MEC. Heard only second half of Flip but it’s good also, yeah feels like leftovers.

On second listen, Fearless Fred Fury isn’t a let down as I initially perceived, it’s growing on me. However, the cohesion/magic between ICP as a unit is lacking, imo. I question Shaggy’s lyrical absence from 90% of the Joker’s Card, which is such an imperative piece of ICP’s legacy. His most prominent lyrical presence outside of the singles and Freedom, was on West Verner Avenue, which is essentially a Shaggy solo joint.

Guess I’d better order this one. Sounds like 80% of yall like or love it. Which doesnt mean shit for me, because all Juggs are so different in our tastes. But it’s an interesting sign.

Not exactly. Even on earlier cards like Ringmaster or Riddle Box, Shaggy would trade off lines with J, or have a chorus feature to tie the tack together when he didn’t have a verse, aside from two or or three J solos. On this card, it sounds like J went into the studio with Str8jacket and developed 90% of the record, then Shaggy was included as an afterthought for a solo joint, and a few verses and bridges, rather than creating the project as a unit with equal input on its creative direction.

I thought the line was more about no name rappers who have dissed him and still come to their shows. You could be right tho, its hard to understand the lyrics in that part.

my order was supposed to arrive yesterday but Montreal was hit by it’s biggest snowfall in the past 26 years and the city is basically shut down.
