I liked some of the shirts at Hot Topic back in the day, it was a hit or miss for me. I guess I haven't been in a Hot Topic in literally years though so I couldn't say what the merch there was like now. Last time I went in one it seemed like they focused on creating their own exclusive art for the artists they sold instead of just selling the same band merch you could purchase at almost any Rock store, the Psy ones did seem a bit childish I remember.
It was the only place I could grab T-Shirts with my parents overprotective views on music growing up back then.

The gear is the gear should that really define the era? The gear in 90’s and early 2000’s was dope but some new gear has been fresh. If Psy decides to re-release the early shirts like rotten treats or hallowicked riddle box would y’all get mad?
The general issue is how big a of a change the juggalo world went through in the past decade. The family era kind of destroyed the Juggalo name.

Yup, hatchetgear went way downhill. No more leather jackets, you can't get hatchetman charms anymore, and how old do you think the cans of spazmatic are that they're selling? It's probably the same stuff they've had since when it came out around the Tempest. Does anybody actually drink that shit?

The idea of juggalo family didnt ruin juggalos. The idea of juggalo family is the shit, its what gave juggalos the name we have. Its what makes us what & who we are. Sure, not all juggalos get along, but inside your real family, your blood family, everybody fights with thier blood family from time to time. Sometimes it turns into shit talking saying shit that souldnt be said. Sometimes it turns into fist fights, but at the end of the day thats your family, you eventually squash the bull shit. The concept of juggalo family is, why cant we apply that kind of mentallity to our friends also. Why are they always said seprate, friends & family, why cant it just be family. Juggalos dont hang out with fakes & phonies. We dont call somebody are friend if thier not real about who they are. We dont call anybody are friend unless thier just as loyal to us as we are to them. We hang out with the type of people that are closer then friends, thier like family. Juggalo Family. It doesnt mean you have to whoop whoop every ninja you see,it dosnt mean you have to get along with everybody that is a juggalo or juggalette. Its just about being open minded & excepting any & everyone in, nobody is excluded except for biggots, child molestors, rapiest, & all around fake people who lie cheat and steal from friends family & strangers and only care about themselves, with the excption of those 4 kinds of people, everybody is welcome. Juggalos are the kids who never fit in. We dont fit into the mainstream, we dont fit into the underground. Were too hardcore for nerds but too nerdy for the hardcore crowd. Were too much rap for the rock crowd but too much into rock for the rap crowd. Were not a gang, were not a cult, were not a fanbase, were not a religion. We are literaly a culture. Yes, the family era is over & the juggalo culture era is in effect, but juggalo family still exsit, & its not a stupied or bad thing. I belive in a juggalo family because I have seen it, I have been & am a part of it. Its something unique & its the way the world should be. Juggalos have evloved, its more then just about Psychopathic. Psychopathic help creat all this. They started a lot of the trends, slang & styles juggalos use, the orgainse all the main juggalo events, they are the only major record label that provides music only for the juggalo audience. The gave juggalos a name & face & none of this would have been possible or exsit if it wasnt for Psychopathic Records. But thier is so much juggalo shit out thier now, both in the mainstream & underground, that not evenone becomes a juggalo because of ICP or Psychopathic. They better have respect for them for starting it, but its a culture now. We have are own styles, are own slang, are own get togethers, we have are own other common intrest & hobbies other then just the music, espically just the music Psychopathic puts out. A lot of juggalos & juggalettes listen to & are into the same kind of shit. Thats why juggalo websites follow so much more then just Psychopathic, thats why the Gathering of the Juggalos has all kinds of musical acts other then just Psychopathic acts. Thats why thiers more then just music at the Gathering. Psychopathic created a group of people, a walk of life, a family, a culture, the likes has never exsited & nothing comes close to what this is. Its so unique & so original. We are truly part of something special guys, enjoy the fuckin shit outta of it!

I think that the family era sort of fucked things up because it created the idea that anybody and everybody has to be accepted so people who aren't even juggalos are now pretending to be juggalos to be accepted. People who are “down for the family aspect” that don't even really like ICP. People who aren't juggalos going to the gathering and treating it like wood stock when the gathering should be and was supposed to be strictly for the juggalos. The family era made it less of a family by making it harder to find out who really is family with it's invitation being handed out to people who just want to use the juggalos as the next fad. The family era created mooches, posers and this big “conform to what society wants you to look and act like so you don't give the family a bad name” shit.
There was family before the family era and there will be family after the family era. The family era was a great idea that posers took an advantage of, it pointed out how close together the music brought legit juggalos Then the posers came in, took their month being a juggalo, then go on to hate us afterwards because being a juggalo isn't popular.

The real family era was 97 to 03 after that people started acting fraudulent. Think about it the easier it became to cop the music the less and less people started understanding the points of what must of the songs were about. Personally I feel Psychopathic noticed it and started the “Family” thing to get people to realize alot of things was wrong.

It was NEVER about family for me man. I understand the concept of juggalo family but respect is to be earned, not given because we listen to the same music. All you who do claim it, how many go to the gathering? And out of all the people you meet how many would you trust enough to give a key to your crib? We're paradox's we are all together because we are all alone.
When I was in school there was like maybe 10 or 15 people that even knew about psychopathic in my school. It was like your own personal band and brand of music that was slept on by the rest of the world. Thats what made it fresh to me THE MUSIC. Not finally belonging. To me I became a juggalo when I realized that I don't need to belong to anything
The same thing is happening to us that happened to the punk subculture. At the very beginning it was an idea and a way of thinking. Then it turned into a fashion statement. There's actually Lo's who buy pants and cut em all up at the bottom to make em look more scrubby!?!? If my jeans have rips in em its because I can't afford to buy new ones lol.

I first heard of ICP back in probably about 2000 or 2001. I became a fan, then noticed (because of Backyard Wrestling video games) kids were all of a sudden juggalos and started running around calling each other “mathoo fackoos”. I was a juggalo then and still a juggalo when those same people started saying “fuck juggalos”. I was still a juggalo when all of these other self proclaimed juggalos were calling me a juffalo for liking Eminem. I've been a juggalo back when nobody knew what ICP was and watched it gradually turn into everybody knowing what a juggalo is with in a few years. I liked it better when nobody knew what a juggalo was, there were less haters and less posers. I do have to say though, the family era didn't start getting this ridiculous until probably around 09 or so. That's when I started noticing these mainstream pop kids asking how to be juggalos and the people trying to use the 'fam' as back ups and shit.
I used to say whoop whoop to anybody I saw wearing juggalo merchandise. Now days when I see somebody wearing juggalo stuff it's like they're just another pedestrian to me and I just walk right past.

Amen to that bro. I had a tight clique of 5 (we were friends before we became juggalos) we used to whoop whoop in between classes so we could find each other. We even got like 3 preppy bitches to do it a couple times without even asking them. It was funny back then man not over saturated. Ah the glory days
