Shit was generally cooler. The Pendulum was dope, Born Twiztid was hella funny, Blaze looked like a dead motherfucker, ICP was crazy and Juggalos were fun to kick it with.

laughI don't like how the term Family is used as much as Juggalos now use it. It's more so an annoyance now. 10+ years ago were the good years were the crazy fun years. 10 years ago Juggalos had better things going for them then, then now. Personally I think this Family Era shit is silly and weak.

I don't like the term Juggalo & Family used side by side. I like Juggalos/lettes but to use the Family slogan is kinda ridiculous in my eyes.

Shit was fresher back in the day I loved meeting new juggalos and talking bout albums etc. I felt more unified as a “family” before the term. Now I go to shows and if it isn’t with my people I’m usually alone and I feel outcasted cuz everyone stays in there groups of friends. Doesn’t bother me I’m there for the artist and music maybe I’m just getting older, I don’t feel “new” juggalos can fully grasp the true “fam” meaning by being an individual amongst others not copies in a crowd mumbling lyrics.

Uh yeah totally agreed man. I think things were pretty tight a little less than a decade ago but yeah shit is bullshit now. I mean most Juggalo's I meet don't even know what the fuck is up in Psychopathics world. It's like they've heard Milenko and Jeckal Bros and they hang around trying to ask for fucking money and drugs……. Some even then just know a couple tunes or some shit but they come try to chill with their “homies” all the time and ask for backup in their bullshit.

Plus there's several Juggalo “gangs” here that are here to “protect” the fam……. Which so far they've done this by repping the Bloods colors with hatchet men on them and selling guns, drugs, and even a few active gernades. It's more like a couple groups of Juggalos that just wanna be gangsters…..

And I mean come on dude, why does everyone THROW SHIT at the Gathering?

i can't even express how much i agree with the last 2 posts. it's almost devastating to me that i've been listening much more than casually since 1999, but i was a kid and generally too young to really get involved with going to shows and meeting juggalos. only since 2009 have i been going to the gathering every year, going to every show in the 313 area, etc. and to know that whole time when i was kid, i was missing out on the amazing prime of being a juggalo.

as soon as i was old enough to actually integrate myself, i could tell it had all changed from what it was in the past. just like nikatin said, people hanging out in their own cliques. you are outcasted by other juggalos, no question about it. i don't even see juggalos as being too different from other people anymore. at the 4/20 Twiztid-KMK show, people were total fucking assholes. some girl even started literally beating on my back with her fists because i was in front of her and was getting pushed into her. fucking assholes everywhere. people starting shit, arguing.

and MAINLY like starvin_marvin said, NOBODY KNOWS THE FUCKING MUSIC. it's RI-GODDAMN-DICULOUS. when i was introduced to being a juggalo i was under the impression i needed to know my shit, and i WANTED to know my shit. so i learned it all. now, there's no motherfucking dedication and the scene itself feels shallow and totally hollowed out of it's core meaning. WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE TO DO?

I will gladly admit that I am a new age juggalo. But I still love to hear the stories of the old school ninjas and hear their experiences. From what I can tell yeah it was fresher back in the day.  But I disagree that these new age juggalos won't be able to grasp the idea of family.  But honestly I did my research starting with the Shockumentry.  Some many ninjas to this day say its nothing like it was back then but I strongly disagree after watching the Shockumentry shit was nuts! but now going to shows and watching what juggalos do today is no different. Some ninjas say that juggalos cause too many problems at shows and from the shows I've seen the only problems juggalos had was with security at the end of shows.  When I went to the End of Days tour for Twiztid there was this ninja walking down the steps to the pit area.  He slipped because of the water on the steps from people leaving some of their drinks there. Once fell all I heard was “Oh Shit! Juggalo down! SOMEBODY GET THAT NINJA UP!” and afterwards 4 juggalos ran to help him up. I couldn't believe what I saw and honestly that was some fresh shit. As long as there juggalos around to set an example I don't see a problem

I’m not saying all new school juggalos can’t grasp the family concept cuz in reality that’s what new school juggalos know is family era. I’m saying that for old school juggalos it easier cuz we came from a day when u had to search or find out who was down. Now it like a kid can have a shirt on and they automatically are down. I agree back in the day I felt I had to kno my shit and I still want to cuz the new kids I do meet that are fresh can learn. I get compliments on how I’m nothing like new school kids cuz they have watered down the scene I explain icp and psychopathic and make it fresh like many others, that cuz we came from an era of individuality and created something, you can’t blame older juggalos for wanting to be reclusive we didn’t have people murdering others in the name of icp. We protected the shit in my opinion. It just makes me mad when tech who shows us mad love has cats bumpin him who think they kno tech but hate on juggalos or don’t understand why. sorry tech may go popular but he will always be ours. But that’s why I love juggalos love being one we have so much freshness all we trying to do is preserve the scene. I go to local shows I support my artists it’s our music that is what the juggalo scene needs to go back to for unification. If we gonna be a family then this has to be “our thing.” our la costra nostra if you will.

I say this cuz when I was younger I didn’t have to deal with security. Abk Amb boondox even tech no extra security or police but there in small venues. Lotus came here in 08 and poliCe everywhere! Even in the venue! But as I saw younger kids were running up on cops and throwing shit at them! Young kids smacking the buses trying to get mono off it, wouldnt speak to them i walked up to jamie and paul came correct and they spoke with me chilled with blaze even, it all about how los carry themselves the wild shit has got to stop. Sorry I’d like icp to play in my state as icp they haven’t even been back for a lotus show hmmm wonder why?? Haven’t seen twiztid since 04. ABK comes at least three times a year. Other than that we get nothing.

I feel like nowadays, despite Violent J constantly preaching in interviews about peace and family, being a Juggalo is all about “not giving a fuck”.

Hey what can I say though? Music is up to interpretation.

Not gonna lie, 6 years ago when I was 16 I was a mall rat. My dumb friends and I basically got mad stoned and walked around trying to find a piece of ass. Anyway, back then and the years before that the ICP merch sold it the mall was actually fresh. I remember when Jeckel Bros. came out and places like Hot Topic and TSX had some crazy shirts and hoodies. How times have changed…
