Does anyone actually care about a shiny cover? Like I kind of thought the point in getting an album would be to listen to it, not admire how pretty it looks.
I’m still waiting for mine to come in but I’ve been streaming it from SPIN and it doesn’t sound like anything to be complaining about.
Not ESPECIALLY, but if you read the wristband instore thread you can see why it just adds to my frustration…

I did not receive my pre-order but I went ahead and bought it at Best Buy. I knew my pre-order wouldn’t arrive on time, it never does. In fact, the only reason I pre-ordered it at all was to get the limited edition cover. So if I don’t get it, yeah I’ll be pissed. Also, no music video today, they are (apparently) filming one this week though.
and now i'm gonna be performin at Juggalo Day WHUT

Well, seeing as I didn’t get mine today I broke down and am listening to the stream… (cuz I’ll be damned (pun?) if I’m the last ‘Lo to have heard this shit on release day)
I gotta say I’m really diggin’ this album. I really like the beats. Most often in hip-hop/rap, I can learn to appreciate a track for its beats even if I’m not feeling the lyrics (and vice versa)
So far “I’ll Keep My Hatchet” is my standout. Like the chorus. Got a kick out of hearing “Hi, I’m Heather. Come see what I’ve got”. That’s a sample from a commercial for a recurring gun show convention that’s been used for years.
Honestly, this is a good album. It sounds current and well put together; with the exception of the off beat sample pad hits on “Falling Apart” goin’ “I-I-I-…I’m falling apart”. We all got love for the old stuff but you’re lying to yourself if you think that the production from those albums has aged all that well.
I would totally go in on picking up a DJ Kit for this album if they made one. I could put together some seriously decent remixes and dubs using samples and beats from this.
I don’t get a sense of any kinda “cheese” (not as in comedy) but pushed through crap that didn’t go through some kinda major process to get out.
Ya’ll are some elitist record store bitch boys if you can’t find SOMEthing to like on this album! This is one to throw on and have someone go, “Who is this?” “ICP.” “No shit?!”
I look forward to seeing how they do some of this shit with a stage production.

I mean, I understand your frustration, I guess I just don’t share it. My only concern when it comes to an album is if I can afford it and if I enjoy it. Both those boxes are checked, so personally, I’m satisfied with it.
I pre-ordered from amazon, hoping it’d arrive on time, or early like the last lotus album did, but it didn’t ship until today, but I’m still listening to it.

Was Verne Gagne just hanging on until this dropped? The album is dope, IMO.
He was almost 90, but yes — the only reason he hung onto the last few minutes of his life was to cop this shit on iTunes and bump it while he gave up the ghost.![]()

This is why ICP is my favorite of all time, they never fail to step up and kill it when the time comes.
I don’t think this album is better than Death pop but wow they schooled it. They definitely put a lot of darkness in this one. More than Twiztids “Dark” album, which I liked but only had like 4 dark songs on it. They came through with bomb beats, great song concepts, good hooks (for the most part) and lyrics that could only be written by the wicked clowns.
I can’t wait for Found, I loved the little singing part J did at the very end.

Valid points. We are buying the album not the cover.
HOWEVER…
The Hatchet Gear preorder was announced first with a fancy cover for having done it. THEN they started popping off with preorder offers everywhere else. Free schwag, first listens, etc. If everyone else gets some kinda special “bonus” for having preordered… I want mine.
*I didn’t get any free shit. *I didn’t get to listen to any of the album early. *I wasn’t eligible for any contests.
I want my fancy cover.
Just like my Gathering tickets, they got my money from my accounts months ago to spend how they see fit since then.
I wants mines.

This. The only song I didn’t really like [well, to be fair, I didn’t flat out hate it, but it was kinda odd] was You Should Know. Starting off the way it did and all was a bit… strange. I mean, had it started more like a “normal” ICP song, it wouldn’t be such a shock. In fact, the first time I listened to the album, I had to check the song listing to make sure it wasn’t a mix up. The female vocals were a huge departure from your typical ICP album. Which isn’t a bad thing by any means, but it was so different that it’ll take some time to gel. And as Arboghast says, if it doesn’t jel, it isn’t Aspic, and this ain’t jellin’.
Sick dude. I think of any ICP album, this would great for that whole Bizaar/Bizzar thing, where they suggested buying extra copies and giving them to non-Juggalos. I think this is hella different from typical ICP, and especially from what people typically see ICP as.

after listening to the marvelous missing link(lost) 3 times I realize that ICP are the best musicians of all time , way better than Kanye West,Pantera,Skrillex,Van Halen,Dubmatique,Pat Benatar , wu tang clan and Yngwie Malmsteen
Eh, I kinda disagree, but only in regards to the artists in bold.

I loved flamethrower just now (first listen). The story telling and the immitatable violence are so fuckin greaf
Flamethrower is pretty rad. Did kinda remind me of Bazooka Joey, but not in a bad way or anything. I like both songs.
Oh, and random, but I mentioned earlier than I hated Rebel Flag from COC. Confederate Flag is definitely a much better, more mature song with valid points. I don’t think that everyone displays the Confederate flag to be a hateful dirtbag, but I still enjoyed the song. Most people probably do, but I’m sure there are some that don’t, even if that’s a small percentage.

all these other reviews have lessened my interest in the album to the point that ima just go ahead and listen to it.
‘you must find faith. you must believe. hope and believe in your faith. whatever that faith is. you must have faith and believe.’
this… is not brilliant. the kinda unfounded circular logic that makes me happy to not have faith. started me off on a sour note, like a mufucka. i doubt ill ever hear this track again.
‘hope and believe in your faith’… what does that even mean? its rhetoric.
lost- coulda put a lil effort into the music. songs okayish otherwise, but not goin on any mixes.
apocalypse- better. music aint blowin my wig back, but its a real beat, at least.
shock- sounds like a twiztid track. songs decent, spose.
confederate flag- bit more of a familiar icp feel. beat seems like it came from a different song, though.
vomit- heard about thirty seconds of this earlier, rest of the song is on the same level. refrain at the end promises that if my soul is rejected by heaven, im still not lost, i have a place to go: hell. thanks for the rejection, guess faith is irrelevant…? music is alrightish.
falling apart- cheshyr is right, they are way too fond of the pad hits on this album. the bop button is the last refuge of the uncreative, they should avoid relying on it, sounds cheap.
how- could do without the chorus. id have preferred it if they just said h-h-h-how for four bars, lame as that woulda been.
explosions- another one that seems like the beat was meant for twiztid. can i assume that lil spooky is doin all the singin here? i dont dig it, whoever it is. doesnt help one percent that it dont rhyme.
ill keep my hatchet- oh, this is a new song… thought it was explosions, still. extremely similar drum pattern. cut-out chorus with some singing over it. again.
neighbors are fighting- this would be better if they wrote more than two lines per verse. whoever said the songs lacks context/story was right on. beats average, sound effects carry it.
you should know- bad feeling from the first few seconds, but then it picked up. this track is good stuff. even the singing is tolerable, comes off almost like a useful sample, as opposed to lil oatey tryin to be a flimsy rock star.
flamethrower- this is a natural icp jam. still not a fan of the production, but a lil more appropriate than most of the rest of the lp.
i see the devil- this shit came to a screeching halt at the chorus. this is categorically not a faygo armageddon closer. oh, it wouldnt surprise me if they closed shows with it, but almost any previous closer would be immensely better. beat is on the level of the rest; not bad, not great. last bit is cute, nothin more.
high point: you should know, probably.
low point: other than the intro, probably lost.
all in all, this doesnt even approach death pop, is not as good as bang pow boom, and to me, most resembles shangrila. which, if youve noted my opinion on before, is [mostly] lyrically on point, and musically garbage.
this isnt garbage, but it sorely needed mec. not as desperately as shangrila, but his absence [and definitely legz diamonds absence as well] is the major drawback, here. injecting oatey into everything was a drag, too.
given all that, plus all the bitchin last couple days from people who own it, ima wait n cop this at the gathering. assumin i make it to the gathering.
[edit] typo fix.
awfully paranoid, arent you?

I’m not really digging it. I listened through it once in my truck, and I wasn’t interested in immediately listening through it again. There wasn’t a single song that stood out as really great, which is pretty disappointing. Every song had something about it that made me make a face and feel like they could have done so much better. It definitely had a cohesive theme, but it didn’t feel like a Joker’s Card to me. The whole “you better have faith, OR ELSE” thing was just too strong for me. I suspect that I will enjoy Found much more.

I agree with you about the beginning of You Should Know, when it started I was kinda like “HUUH?” But I liked that song alot
My stand outs are, Falling Apart & I’ll Keep My Hatchet.

This, is probably, one of my favorite ICP albums. I got done listening to the whole thing, it’s fucking awesome. I see what people are saying about some of the songs sounding similar, but to me, it just seems like one long composition piece of music, which ain’t bad, I like it, kinda like a concept album or something. The whole thing was awesome, it was definitely a different sound for ICP (I loved the rock shit). Some people don’t like it, but I’m fucking glad I do. And that little thing at the end of I See The Devil, was amazing, if that’s what Found is going to sound like, then holy shit, I don’t even know, that’s gonna be an amazing album.
And that’s what I think.
