And personally I don't care if you voted for Clinton or not. Nyro said in this thread that he voted for Johnson. That's far far far better than voting for trump. I'm more concerned with people who didn't participate at all, voted for harambe, or worse: voted for trump. I don't even like Hillary. In another thread I pointed out that she is racist too, just not as overtly as Trump.

I really just want solutions. 

The kkk believe that trump ran a platform of racism. How can we fix that? What can we do, as people who hate bigotry, to bring about a better, more equal tomorrow if the KKK think that trump is on their side?

I don't think he is a scapegoat. I think he has made very clear promises and people are reacting. If you honestly believe he wasn't being racist, then how do we tell racist people that these promises aren't permission for them to let their hatred out?

I'll "give him a chance" when he makes a good faith effort to not promote his hostility driven racism.

His first chance is the transition team which includes unqualified members of his family, openly racist folks, and lobbyists. 

Strike one. 

His team is attempting to implement his promise of gutting religious freedom by registering religious minorities (Muslims).

We don't do anything about them marching. Same thing we should be doing about people protesting Trump. They wanna march, let em march so long as they remain peaceful. 

1. Donald Trump has named Stephen Bannon a noted propagandist as a chief strategist and policy advisor. Stphen Bannon is a self declared white supremacist and is vocally antisemitic. 

Protest as much as you can and watch him like a fuckin hawk. Which we should be doing with any and all government officials but doubly so with this asshole. 

1. Reports of racial violence and graffiti are skyrocketing. 

Despite the pics you posted and a few articles that have a single example, I can't seem to find one credible report backing this claim. Not saying it isn't true but I am saying that your sources aren't good. You can find a handful of cases where it's happening but you can also find a handful of people being violently attacked/harassed for being supposed Trump supporters as well. Single instances don't equal "skyrocketing".

 

 

1. The average number of suicides per day is about 113. The day after Trump was announced our new president elect, the number went to nearly 400. 

Anything I can find on this is saying that suicide rates before Trump got elected were really high this year so it's rather dishonest to say that it was very high post-Trump. It's true but it's dishonest. An increased number of suicides isn't something to ignore but it seems like you should know that saying "this thing is why" isn't how it works. Even if it was, the number is significantly higher for white males than any other group. So if you must go with the correlation thing, what we would do is try to make sure white males are okay and that they can talk to someone if they need to. 

 

1. For all of his anti-establishment rhetoric, one of trumps first appointees is: Reince Priebus a Washington insider.

Uh, I don't give a shit if he's anti-establishment and never claimed to. But again, this is apparently something that you think I should care about so uh...good or bad or whatever you want me to say here.

 

It really seems like you have a narrative all laid out and you're finding the evidence to make that narrative work, Rob. Maybe I'm wrong. Believe it or not, I sincerely want to be wrong here. I don't want to defend Trump. The dude is a total piece of incompetent shit BUT you can't blame him for all the problems in the world. Give it time and our president WILL do something that you can rightfully blame him for. There's no need to reach. It makes your tribe seem desperate and unreasonable. You're definitely wrong. There's no narrative that I'm trying to argue. I'm trying to find a real actionable solution. I have been an activist for about 20 years and I have never in my life felt more hopeless and lost. 

A transwoman I know killed herself because of trumps promise to stop her from having access to medication she needs.

An activities I have known and have looked up to has decided it is best to move out of the country. They are a queer black Muslim (documented) immigrant who have been receiving hate mail for months from trump supporters. 

A man told my cousins daughter that she was going to be deported yesterday. A grown was man told a 9 year old girl that her parents are illegal and that trump has promised to get rid of them. A stranger. 

How do we stop this? I'm out of answers. I figured maybe you guys might have some insight. 

Guess I'm wrong. 

His anti establishment status is indifferent to me. I just know it's important to some of his supporters. He abandoned it as soon as he could though which is rather telling. 

I didn't really say that trump was why, just that there was a spike on the day after. It's alarming. I have been busy volunteering with suicide hotlines for queer youth because people are afraid, deathly afraid, of the promises trump has made and the people on his team. 

His vp thinks you can electrocute gay people to make them straight. He attempted to make it illegal for same sex couples to file marriage licenses. Crimes against lgbt people are also spiking. A friend of a friend had die he she written all over her car in the middle of the night.

The southern poverty law center claims that racially motivated attacks have tripled since trump was elected.

I'm exhausted with protesting. It doesn't work. We have been protesting for decades and nothing changes. We take two steps forwards and three back every single day. 

And, lastly, just to be clear I don't care that they march. I care that while I'm sitting here calling trump racist you guys are saying he isn't. The KKK are calling him racist and you guys are silent. I don't care that they march but how do we tell them that his election isn't permission to engage in more racial division?

I'll respond more to other people later. 

I haven't got the spoons. I'm exhausted and despaired. I'm grieving. I've lost too many people in my life and I don't know how to move forward.
