But in defense of all concerned, the Where’s Juggalo thread took the turn on Nemo’s post and turned into an actual discussion (arguably). I left my brief comment on the headline post and came to hash it out in the threads.

If anything, I guess Psy got more than the answer he was looking for and for that… oops.

The fucked up thing is that you DO get involved in the debates and you DO type out books you just don’t care to actually read the other persons comments when doing it. Coming up with bullshit excuses. Plus, nobody is “trying” to do or be anything we are just being ourselves. Looks to me like they were having a legit conversation…In fact, this is the most interesting convo I’ve seen on here in a few weeks..If yall can’t handle more than one paragraph go hang out on twitter with the rest of the spastic adhd bunch. Either way, @cheshyr to be fair, I’ve been committing the same exact sin by relating your black face comparison to the claims other people are adding on to it. But I still would not compare it to black face.

Being a juggalo is described by many as being a life style. When the outside observes us they see nothing but the overwhelming undereducated drug addicts that fill this title and assume that that is the life style of a juggalo. Though, I don’t agree with it because the lifestyle of a juggalo is not about that, it is justified and on top of that it is just jokes. Even then, people choose whether or not to consider themselves juggalos. Plus, juggalos are definitely not alone when it comes to cultures getting ripped on like this. Every culture faces some sort of hate, criticism, or ridicule like this. Juggalos tend to do it just as often as anybody else. You have juggalos doing it with rich people, southern people, ‘preppy’ people, hipsters, etc.

Skin color does not equal life style. (though many people still think it does) People don’t choose whether or not they are black. Even then you do still have plenty of generally accepted media outlets depicting black people in stereotypical manners just like they do with juggalos. Most people don’t get as mad because we know it’s just jokes. Who here doesn’t like Boondocks?

Like I said before; If it does not apply to you don’t get mad.

It all comes right down to where you draw the line. How much of our own freedoms do we have to give up just to keep everybody happy? I understand that some people take it too far, but do we really have to stop taking advantage of justified stereotypes in the name of humor just so we can prevent hurting anybody’s feelings?

Where do we draw the lines on who we can make jokes on? What groups do I have too be sensitive with?

If we can choose how we dress and how we act and what label we embrace then maybe we should be prepared for the judgements that might be thrown our way. I know I’m not an unintelligent drug addict so I’m not offended. It’s not fair that I’d get lumped in with something I’m not, but hey, if people want to judge me based on that then fine. Their loss. But I’ve had plenty of people come up and tell me how they don’t like juggalos but they do like me because I’m different, I’m not a drug addict or I don’t get butt hurt every time somebody makes a joke about juggalos.

If we can’t choose how we dress or how we act or what label we embrace then nobody can be hated. Ever.

Not depve into racism or slavery or genocide or get into anyone’s thoughts on the incompatibility of racism as a talking point or it’s similarity to (or lack thereof) any other kind of inequality brought down upon one group or another…

If it helps realign the universe, just replace my reference to blackface with… I dunno… a picture of a pitbull standing over the bloody body of a kid… or… a middle eastern guy with a bomb strapped to his chest… or… a picture of a gay guy licking his lips at a Boy Scout jamboree…

Anyone that would base their perceptions of the kinds of people and things depicted in such images and assigning them to the entirety of all others, makes just as much “no sense” as allowing all juggalos to be labelled and “persecuted” in the same way based on the kinds of images that regularly get made about them.

I knew what people thought about juggalos before I chose to hang around. As far as this “I just like the music” tangent goes, there’s plenty of interests and hobbies people “like” but don’t get “involved” with. Plenty of people like Elvis but don’t into fights about him stealing his music. Plenty of people like swimming but don’t own a pool. And plenty of people “like the music” but don’t chose to join a website dedicated to the fans of it…
