There is a new prevailing theory called "string theory" where if you break down matter to its lowest form, it is essentially vibrations. These possibilities that you are talking about ILL would already exist under this theory. Think of it as a guitar. Our universe is on one fret and there are unlimited possibilities. Unlimited frets. We are simply on a different wave length. All physical existence(under this theory) is made up of harmonies that form patterns as shown here:
It could be possible that we have infinite universes stacked on top of each other aka the multi-verse.
But that begs the question what is time and how much choice do you really have? Sure you can chose between coke or pepsi, but you were born with the taste buds that affect your decisions.
What if the time isn't really linear like we think? what if the past, the present, the future is all together one beautiful brilliant moment? That would explain people seeing ghosts and people having deja-vu.
I really do believe what the man in the video posted says. That our positive and negative energies affect people. Proof of that comes from a Dr. Masaru Emoto's rice experiment. I won't post the video but if anyone is interested go check it out.
Basically he used three jars of rice for thirty days. One he spoke positive comments to. "i love you" you are beautiful" etc. The next he spoke negative "i hate you" you are worthless". The third he left alone completely.
Low and behold after thirty days, the positive jar was still fresh while the other two had begun to grow mold. It sounds like some hippy dippy bullshit but it has been replicated by others since then.

The question I always ask somebody to see if I can respect them is If they think free will really exists.
But back to the main topic.
The biggest thing that irritates me about religion is the ignorance and ego of saying that you know why we are here, what life truly is, what our purpose is, what happens when we die, how can you know any of that? You can't know that. You don't have any supreme knowledge or supreme awareness that allows you to percieve what others can't. You are just another person sitting on a rock trying to understand what life is with no clue on what it truly is just like everybody else. So get off your high horse and quit claiming to know the answers to life's mysteries when deep down you know you are just as confused as anybody else.

Depends on who you ask.. Some have died and came back, but there is no way of telling if what they see is true unless you experiece it. Not matter how we try to categorize things, there are certain things that science will never explain, that defy logic or reason.
That 130 pound mom who lifts a truck off of her baby. The guy that gets carried a mile in the eye of a tornado and lives. God or no god, afterlife or none, there is a higher power than us. Something that is beyond our ability to understand or control. Then again maybe we are that higher power and we are manifestations of the universe trying to figure itself out
I kinda like the "what dreams may come" interpretation of it. What ever you believe will become your afterlife. Not that I believe that but it's a nice notion.

as ive established previously, im an agnostic.
most likely, so is everyone else. but its really, really hard to get most people to admit it.
if there will ever be a definitive answer [and thats a enormous 'if'], it will probably come through rigorous scientific study of the nature of the universe.
certainly not through proselytization.
awfully paranoid, arent you?

I'm an agnostic also, I just enjoy playing the devils advocate. However, I do advocate having faith. I also believe that we CAN think things into existence in its simplest form. Before anything happens in our world, we all think of it first.
You don't just go and make a sandwich do you? no theres a process. First your brain tells you that you are hungry. Then you think about what might sound good. After that you tell your body to go and make the sandwich.
Based upon that, I believe that god exists, just because people believe that it does. You can't honestly say that there aren't people out there who really do believe.
Does it exist in my world? no. Does it exist in actual reality? We will never know, but it does exist for some people and that doesn't make it any less real

That theory about time and it all possibly being one beautiful moment is good shit Slum... and whoever said that about Atheism being flawed, I agree. In ways it is just as ignorant as Christianity can be. That anyone claims to KNOW, to possess that single most important bit of information about EVERYTHING is just tremendously foolish. Agnosticism is the most reasonable way to try and make any kind of sense about things. The, as Joe Rogan so finely put it "Massive Fuckin' Mystery" that is life, is too much for anything but the possible-but-impossible-to-know-for-sure-at-this-stage God to fathom... and I hate religious folken who act like Agnostics and followers of religions that don't revolve around a heaven or hell afterlife assume that we don't want there to be a God. Of course a Christian idea of eternal paradise is nifty as fuck! You think we don't want a piece of that? But cmon.

I believe in life after death. It would be really shitty if there was just nothing, and i've seen enough to convince me that there actually is. I've never seen a ghost but have been in what would commonly be called a haunted house. Places where weird shit happens that couldn't be explained at the time. I know that other people don't believe in this stuff, but I do. If you were in the same places that I was at the same time then I bet that you probably would too. I find it comforting, rather than scary. Being brought up catholic by a fanatical mother it's been instilled since birth that there is a life after death, but I can understand why others may feel differently.
I don't think religion is a great idea, most wars are caused over religion. I honestly think that no religion has it completely right, they all claim that they do though. I just think if you're a good person, you will go to heaven, it really doesn't matter if you go to church every Sunday. That's just me though.

just a quick point of trivia:
historically, the majority wars were not motivated by religion, although it was commonly used as an excuse.
the full-on, ideologically motivated 'jihad' kinda war is trendy today, no denying that.
but most wars were fought over real estate.
ie, 'thats your land, and we want it', or 'this is our land, and youre not supposed to be on it'.

Patjoyce at least you're still reasonable and open-minded about it. That's the important thing about religious debates that most forget. Both sides can be so shrill and spiteful. I worked with a preacher in NC for over a year, just me n him in a non- air conditioned truck all day. The things he said in the name of his beliefs are almost unspeakable…but id love to have a certainty about God, whatever it may be. With one brother in a jar in my living room and the other currently receiving an autopsy, I can live with the idea that there is no heaven. Its like a cosmic joke and terrifying, yes. But for any religious person to say that my brothers are in what they call hell, because neither was "saved" according to their dogma, is unforgivable.
