And how do you know what that Mayan calendar says, chances are you can’t decipher it yourself, therefore someone tells you what it says and you believe them. All I’m saying is don’t get too freaked out about this, this is certainly not the first time the end of the world has been predicted

I understand that you're entitled to your opinion, but it's unfair to blame the problems of a nation on one man, who in reality doesn't have nearly as much power as most seem to believe. Americans are no less free than they were a decade ago, our constinutional rights haven't been compromised. Until Obama starts discriminating, segregating, and systematically exterminating citizens, there's no grounds to compare him to Hitler. If you have issues with your government, blame the entirety of your government instead of pinning it on the scapegoat.

But you do have to admit that they were ahead of their time when it came to thinking. I know how it seems pretty simple that they could make calenders but back then that was a big fucking deal. They don't have calculators or computers or great Hubble telescopes yet they were able to make these brilliant conclusions. For god sakes they wrote on fucking stone yet were able to predict great astronomical cycles, I don't know if you can perceive how big of an accomplishment that is. That's why people are fascinated with the Maya people. They pull that shit off then suddenly disappear.

I think this marks the end of a cycle and then a new cycle comes in. If I remember right the Maya knew that every 2,000 years or so that the sun would rise at the spring equinox to a different sign of the zodiac. So I think that the end of the calender is really the end of the cycle and that we will begin a new cycle. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

Nothing huge is really going to happen.

What I hope would happen is that we enter what Aleister Crowley calls the 'Aeon of Horus' which is the time when humanity becomes more self aware and starts realizing that we dictate our own true wills rather than having some God figure tell us what our true wills are.

You have to read one of my older posts on this thread to know that and know why I asked.

I don't think the system is broke, I think the system is corrupt. It's like this.

The congress and the Legislative branch are supposed to have the most power, their job is to write the laws that govern us.

The President and the Executive branch is supposed to be the second most powerful and the Presidents job is to protect the country.

The Judicial branch, the judges, are the third and least powerful branch. They are supposed to interpret the bills that the congress write.

Here's the thing, congress writes the bills and since the president is supposed to protect the country he has to approve the bills to pass them so he can protect us from unconstitutional bills. The president controls the military but he's not supposed to use any military action ( or go to war ) with out the Congressional permission. So they both kind of lean on each other and help keep each other in line.

This is where the corruption begins. The president is supposed to get the Congress's permission to go to war but when the president gets denied he finds a loop whole. Like the Vietnam war wasn't really a war it was “police action”. So to counter act that, they passed a bill that says that a president has to check with congress with in 30 days of military action. So a president can send troops all the way across the world and not tell the congress until the last minute. What happens is that the congress doesn't want to say no now because we are already all the way across the world and to with draw our troops now would cost tons of money. So the president now has congressional powers that he's not supposed to have, he can go to war when ever he wants.

Then they passed a bill called 'assigning statement' or something like that. That gives the president the power to interpret a bill that he signed if he doesn't like the specific bill. That now gives the president Judicial powers that he's not supposed to have, he interprets bills. He now has all the powers from all three branches of government. The president has gotten to powerful and I think it's because he's looked upon as some kind of god these days. The president is not supposed to be a spiritual leader. He's not supposed to be a savior. He's supposed to be a protector. That's it.

The only other bit of corruption that I think really matters is the federal reserve and the fact that our politicians are funded by huge corporations. The only way to fix this mess is to elect the right people into office, by doing research and finding the good politicians and putting them on blast. It's like, how many people were aware that Rosanne Barr ran for president this election?

I say, if somebody wants to help this country they should get more involved with politics. My goal is to get extremely involved in the next election, not just in the presidential election but the congressional election as well. I really hope I'm not in the same situation as that I'm in now when that happens.
