Killa C’s New release “Coul Hill” Christian Themed Album?

We’ve been posting about Killa C’s new album release “Coul Hill” since we first heard about it a couple months ago. I have not had an opportunity to check out the album yet, but I’ve heard and read comments from a few people saying it’s a Christian themed album. I thought maybe this shit is a lot milder than what we’re used to from Killa C but then an article came out revealing that Killa C is now a Christian high school teacher, teaching at Skyview High School.
Apparently he’s not happy with the content of his previous releases and plans to let all of that content go out of print (so grab up as much Killa C music now while it’s still available). It literally says that he plans on dumping all that old music in his garage. What!?
He talks about how this new album sheds the excess baggage of his previous releases and comes with a message of hope.

One interesting thing worth noting is that this is likely the first Christian album to be released under a name like “Killa C.”

It all comes down to honor.

Skyview High School teacher Coul Hill was known for many years as Killa C, the rapper. He made good money off the royalties from his 15 albums, which included raps that he isn’t too proud of today.

During his recording and touring heyday, Hill opened shows for Tech N9ne and Insane Clown Posse and toured nationally with Grave Plott.

But that isn’t who is he today.

Now 34, Hill is a Christian, a family man and a devoted teacher. So with the release of his new Christian-themed rap album, “Killa C Presents Coul Hill,” he is shedding the excess baggage of his old music from online sources and dumping his extra boxes of CDs in his garage. The old Killa C tunes were “vile,” and they don’t represent who he is today, Hill said.

The only one of his previous releases that Hill plans to keep available online is the 2011 release, “War Stories: Thy Book Ov Struggles.” That release included a video for each of the album’s 13 tracks and a 102-page memoir, inspired by a class he took at Montana State University Billings from Rachel Schaffer.

Hill graduated from high school in Red Lodge at the age of 17 and started rapping to deal with a friend’s death when they were both teenagers. Hill said that during a decade of touring, he almost always performed “wasted.”

Those days are over.

The new album has a message of hope, something that Hill desperately looked for as a young man. The album will be available on Nov. 15 on iTunes, CD Baby and the hard copies will be for sale at Ernie November. Digital pre-orders are available now on iTunes and come with one early song.

Hill earned his master’s degree in school administration and is at work on a doctorate through Montana State University. He’s also teaching full time and directing the theater department at Skyview, while he helps raise a blended family with six children, who range in age from 6 to 18. He had to give up his volunteer work, including working with Young Life and as a youth leader at Harvest Church, but he’s still trying to spread his message that God exists.

“The message is God is here; he’s real, he’s alive,” Hill said. “So, too, is the enemy. Life isn’t supposed to be easy, but life with Christ is better. I am just a small piece of proof.”

Big Sky State Games

Cyclist Coul Hill celebrates before crossing the finish line during the Big Sky State Games road race near Pompeys Pillar Saturday. Hill placed first in the 40-mile race.

Hill said if you spend your days looking at Facebook feeds, it can provide a skewed view of the world. Even his feed shows a world where “everything is wonderful,” but he acknowledges that he too has his struggles, with anger issues, and a lifelong battle with binge eating.

And he seems to be winning.

Hill is lean and athletic, competing on a national level in road bike races.

Hill is still seen by some as the rapper with the shaved head and tattooed hands and neck, but he is also a well-regarded and passionate educator.

Killa C performs live at the Babcock Theatre

Killa C, aka Coul Hill, performs for a crowd at the Babcock Theatre. The prolific Billings hip-hop artist has put the final stamp on his most ambitious project to date: An 18-song CD/DVD combo titled “War Stories: Thy Book Ov Struggles.” But making music is only one aspect of Hill’s life — he’s also a family man who’s completing a doctorate degree from MSU.

He’s still rapping, but the lyrics are about Christian values and faith. Other Christian rappers, including Supaman, have inspired Hill to spread the word.

“I felt the Holy Spirit nudging me to tell this story. I have never had such an easy time of writing and recording music,” Hill said.

Well now you got Killa C and Marz in that boat now. Maybe they will start a group called Born Again Boys. Maybe it’s the power of pussy? Idk but if that is what he felt was right, more power to him. But I see it hard to imagine keeping the name KILLA C and do Christain Rap. Isn’t that kinda contradictory? Either way, Killa send me ya old shit ya goin to get rid of. I’m more than happy to take it off ya hands.

It’s cool to see killa cs walk as a juggalo to a Christian. Alot of people walking with God don’t have the endurance and commitment to stay with Him. My brother and I are Christians now bit came from the juggalo movement. Iys good and encouraging to see somebody from our culture stand for the Lord. People are watching your walk Mr hill. God bless you bro!
