I planned on camping in Alakazam but im not sure now. I do remember it was before the main gate and you didn’t need to show your wristband to get in there. Basically they put a fence in the middle of the parking lot and said this side is camping and the other is the main parking lot. It makes sense that it would be more likely to be fucked with.

@zero I brought weed and no one searched. The deputy sheriffs on the grounds weren’t busting people for it. People smoked openly.

All the same, I put a little luggage lock on the zippers of my tent. Of course I ended up locking my keys inside… but that’s another story (pin your keys to the inside of your pockets!!!)

Or use a combination lock. That’s what I had. Kind of pain in the dark, but no risk of losing keys.

I plan on bringing a changing/toilet tent and after reading that some people had gotten their shitter… shit on… I plan to lock those up too.

Can I borrow it once or twice a day, so I don’t have to use port-a-potties?? I will keep it clean, and will tip you with beer or Faygo or something haha

Well… people weren’t smoking “openly” per se. They weren’t walking around with joints n’stuff, that is. There’s kids and cops around. Everyone smoked in groups or at their sites but no one got harassed. I believe Ohio is a “ticket not arrest” state anyway but after the Gathering the police had said that they weren’t there to be concerned with that.

@verytwiztidraven – Sure. Just so long as you curb your own bags, heh.

I should have explained it more. Yes there were cops there and kids there. My friends and I had blunts and bowls going around but we always passed it low and didn’t try to advertise. The cops weren’t looking to bust us for weed but common sense is not to smoke a bowl in front of them. Same thing with children. It definity though was very laid back. Plenty of people were smoking. You could smell it all over. I wasn’t sure at first year last year and ended up bringing a screened in canopy in case they were bustin people for smoking so at least we had a “safe haven”. I returned it to the local wal mart the 2nd day and bought some camping chairs. We ended up just posting up by the main stage with our chairs and cooler and just chilled with everyone around and drank and smoked. But like I said, if I saw cops passing buy (which wasn’t a lot) I kept it low. Here is an article I found shortly after the gathering from last year that explained more. weed_gif

With all the smoking happening, and yes, it happened right in front of the police, not one person got arrested on the grounds for smoking weed. Legend Valley has hosted the All Good Music Festival many times and that is a drug haven. Now people have been arrested at the AGMF but not the GOTJ at Legend Valley. The idea is don’t cause problems and no problems will occur.

I never heard of the All Good Music Festival prior to reading your post. So of course I had to find out about it and I found out a few reviews from the festival. Along the bottom are the comments by the disgruntled concert goers who did not have a good time. Now I’m sure there is more to it than what they said but it still was interesting. The way they said the cops were was NOTHING like what I saw at Legend Valley last year. Researching further into the history of the festival, I found out they have a HUGE problem with nitrous. Even on their current page for this years event I read about it. Hippies love nitrous, they call it hippie crack.  Cops hate nitrous. I remember going to Ozzfest in Camden(Philly) and they had lookouts on the tall buildings and parking garages. I had no clue why until some dude rolled up, cracked open a tank, and tried to set up shop. Dude was shut down in minutes…if that. I’m wondering if there was an issue with nitrous which made the cops more aggressive in their enforcing the law. I know in Ohio marijuana is a minor misdemeanor now so you just get a ticket and your shit taken but maybe it was different then. And why are cops so hardcore for stopping nitrous? I get the obvious hazard of people blacking out and shit but I don’t believe you can overdose from it. I’m not advocating for it but I don’t get what the big deal is. Whatever it is, it sure made the cops presence there hardcore. Hopefully we won’t have to worry about that.

Not trying to be a dick ‘er nuthin but… can we NOT talk about this?

Call it my paranoia but it’s jinxy as fuck.

We already went through this last year when we learned it was moving from Hog Rock and there were news reports talking about how the police were gonna be swarming the grounds. THEN of course we had assholes posting fake articles and other nasty shit trying to get everyone riled up over it.

If you really need to hash it out (pun), read this thread:

https://www.faygoluvers.net/v5/…..gathering/

and just know that everyone was able to enjoy themselves and the cops were cool with us.

[but then again there was that story Jumpsteady had about how the ATF or whatever tried to roll into the place]

But let’s not get into it all over again. Please.

Im purely speculating but Id imagine having tanks of flammable gas under pressure being operated by idiots who in some cases are using it themselves sounds dangerous to me.  But you know im a worry wort.

According to a medical dictionary “nitrous oxide is neither explosive nor flammable.”

http://medical-dictionary.thef…..rous+oxide

I’d be more concerned with hypoxia (deficiency in the amount of oxygen reaching the tissues) from inhalng it.

Hmm good info I always just assumed it was both and it appears its neither.  Thanks for clearing that up Krunk.

@cheshyr talk about what? get into what? I have no clue what your talking about confused Nah, I know what your saying. No need to rock the boat when last year was pretty smooth sailing. But I will be looking for comfortable hiking boots as per your advice. I remember wearing cheapo sneakers and I paid for it.

Well you are coming from Cali so that’s a distance. I do the driving thing. 20 hours or so but we take it slow and stop at several cheap motels along the way. We have done the flying thing, when we went with our daughter. That’s quick and easy but we had to hired a cab to take us from the airport to the RV rental place and drove the RV on in. I like driving cause you can take more than you think you will need and make every nice.

I guess the considerations would be if you can get someone to go with you and share the driving, then you’ll have the road trip adventure to add to it but also the road trip back. If you fly or bus it then you have either car rental or cab or carpool from the station.

My advice is figure out now and make the arrangements now. I already have the hotels booked along the way, and the car rental already reserved, tickets already purchased and most of the necessities (except perishable stuff) already purchased. I have a large container that holds all the gathering stuff from lanterns to bugspray to sunscreen etc. that we are taking so it is in one spot and we don’t forget anything…. plus there is my excel spreadsheet checklist of what I am taking and what I am purchasing at the Walmart up there.

Thank you! I got the tickets and some supplies together. In going to get an rv im hesitant about flying then picking up the rv or driving. Ill probably drive out there! Me and bugs got a truths they dont fuck with me i dont fuck with them..except flys..
