The Gathering of the Juggalos’ infamous “drug bridge” is closed today, following reports of a fatal overdose. Ambulances were on the scene at Cave-in-Rock, Illinois around 2 p.m. local time, according to witnesses. The substance involved is believed to be heroin. The person’s name and sex is not yet known.
Since the incident, the bridge — which is basically an open air free-for-all market for recreational drugs — has been closed for business, with two semi-trucks parked to block its access. There have been numerous reports of overdoses throughout the first few days–according to a police officer we spoke to, there were 10 just yesterday–but none yet fatal
Jason Webber, director of public relations for Psychopathic Records, which puts on the Gathering, tells us he has heard reports of the death. “I can’t talk about that on the record,” Webber says.
Elsewhere, security and staff seem to be aware of the illegal activity. Just yesterday, we saw Insane Clown Posse member Violent Jay driving across the bridge himself in a golf cart, while dealers selling a litany of drugs openly peddled their wares.
Security searches for contraband were performed on all cars passing onto the grounds upon arrival. Mike Wilson, a security guard now tasked with preventing people from walking onto the drug bridge, tells us he heard reports that someone had died, but does not have details.
“We stopped a few people from bringing things in,” he says, “One guy had a lot of drugs. He was a drug dealer or something and had no business being here.”
In regards to the open drug use on the grounds, Wilson concedes: “I have had to look the other way a few times, but mostly these kids are just having fun. No one is violent or even rude.”
“These are all real good kids out here,” Wilson continues. “It’s a shame.”
We will update this post with more information as it comes in.

Lol I love the blind hatred for this generalization of “junkies” when 95% of the people who fuck shit up, start fights, cause problems, throw shit into crowds of people and at performers, vandalize property, rob attendees, sexually harassing females, etc, are all of you enthusiastic ALCOHOLICS who like to try and categorize liquor/beer as something other than a drug to justify your actions while you trash others doing the same thing with their own preferences. Those are the true ignorant JUNKIES that fuck shit up and need to have a Heineken bottle shoved down their throat, not someone blowing some bud or sniffing a line or two of something that’s sedating them to the point of hardly keeping their eyes open not bothering anybody else. In all my years attending, its always the drunks. I see no problem with the selling that goes on other than that it’s in an area where all attending have to pass through, that I agree is not right. Go back to how it was back at Nelson Ledges where you had to find out who had what and where they were depending on their campsite or what event was going on. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if it was under cover law enforcement who were selling these beat drugs out there to give them reasonable cause in the first place.
I actually agree with you, drunks fuck more shit up then anyone else. Actually I agree with most of what you said, Especially this part. That way people who want to be excluded from drug dealing can be. This also keeps people that have no business doing things they can’t handle, from being able to procure said items. The drug bridge never was a good idea. I mean come on if your too lazy to walk around asking for a drug you are looking for at a place people are wearing cardboard signs at, you do not need to be indulging in that said drug. Plus its like asking to be robbed by a non juggalo pusher who will be gone the next day, replaced in his spot with another one the next day.
I smoke weed, and ive done just about everything under the kitchen sink. I guess im just getting older dont want to see people getting ripped off and killed by people who are just there to poison the family.

My exact point OCJ, the bridge grew over the years into the spot, started offering much more dangerous products, and has gotten too invasive concerning the people who attend and have no intentions of purchasing and/or using drugs. Personally I love the convenience (I refuse to travel across country with a weeks worth of drugs on my person/in the vehicle, even when precaution is taken) of the bridge because I can pick the best bud and be on my way, and I’ve posted up there mad times selling my old merch or leftover shit I didn’t want to travel home with, but nobody should be forced to be subjected to how bad its gotten. It’s like a Wall Street Drug Strip the way people act. I agree 100% with you as well when you bring up the point that if this spot wasn’t there, the irresponsible attendees would have a seriously rough time getting their hands on shit they shouldn’t be taking in the first place and instances like these ODs on N-Bombs or whatever wouldn’t be happening. Fuck the feds though, we need Juggacops handling this shit.

I agree with both of you on this too. Ive done almost every drug out there just for experimentation not for addiction, I only take shit in moderation but as im getting older I find myself less and less inclined to even do drugs anymore. If im at the gathering next year all im doin is smoking weed which I will bring from home. I wont trust anyone out there to sell me anything. But if next years gathering is anything like this years, Im going to just forget going at all.

Someone died at the Gathering of the Juggalos from an OD earlier. They closed the drug bridge. This year has a way darker vibe.

People have died there before. Tell dude to cheer up, for death is always at a shitty time. Bad vibes are contagious at festivals, people need to stay up as possible.
When is Mayday playing?
