so i went to the library and found the Clam

lol the Clam

Yeah, wasn’t a huge fan of the Clam. Or Tepmest. Or Eye of the Strom.

I do have nostalgic feelings around Tempest though. Tempest tour was my first time seeing ICP live, so Tempest holds a special place for me in that regard.

tempest was dope, but the calm man, i still don’t own a copy or even have it on any storage device anywhere… i actually kinda forgot what it sounds like XD

I agree.

Best two tracks from Calm, best Tempest tracks and whatever good songs were on Eye of the Storm (I do like the Yellow Bus song) would make one album I could listen to (and fully enjoy) more than once. I liked the concept of the three and the whole roller coaster thing with the second, but what really made those albums disappointing for me was how BORING they got. IMO those were the least exciting ICP albums. Even less exciting than Bizzar Bizaar (which I actually dig both a lot).

I felt BPB and MDP, whether you like those albums or not, AT LEAST brought back what they were doing up to The Wraith. Even if it sounds different, these new cards are way more like the 90s work we all loved (theme wise) and I’m pretty sure they mentioned that they were going back to their old style when BPB was in production.

Sorry to be off topic. It is interesting though, thinking on what ICP’s done in the last 12 and also since after Hell’s Pit dropped.

While it certainly isn’t the best of their video interviews, I love J at 9:14. He really sprung to life right there and what he said, you can really what a celebration it must have been to have completed such a journey.

And yeah, I don’t think Shaggy was even considered an adult when they dropped Carnage in 92. If he was, just barely.

fave era ever.. I got into icp around AJB era. I heard the neden game then borrowed the whole cd off my step bro that and riddlebox, ended up buying AJB at the mall and it was a wrap. Shangrila was just so fucking dope. I remember them going into hiding and shit and everyone always thought ICP was at a show when it came to town haha everyone would be looking on the balcony at the venue and be like ICP ICP ICP ICP! shit was funny.

Shangrila is one of my faves. Milenko = first. Hells pit was alright, some tracks I could of did without but for the most part was another good album.

I miss this era more than anything :( Both tours were fucking dope too. Hells pit was the sickest ICP show I ever seen. Hells pit was dark as fuck and all red the whole time it just felt like a wicked ass show and shangrila people were getting smashed in the face with faygo everywhere it was awesome. Watched a kid stage dive into the crowd and fall on his neck cuz everyone moved then everyone yelled “You fucked up! You fucked up!”

awesome haha

Ok I had to join to make this post. I’ve been lurking here forever. I used to post all the fuckin time on Real Juggalos and B6, and I think I posted on here as well up until about 2003 or 2004. I first became a Juggalo between the time Milenko and Jeckel Bros came out and was, of course, totally obsessed by the time Jeckel was released. So The Wraith was a big deal to me. Unfortunately, I kind of grew out of ICP shortly after Hell’s Pit. I liked it and everything, just kind of got into much different things. Years went by and I barely, if ever, listened to ICP. Nowadays, I still have huge respect for ICP and for the last couple of years, all of October is spent listening to all my ICP shit and catching up on anything I may have missed. I really enjoyed that this year!

But anyway, The Wraith: Shangi-La. Not going to lie, I was ALL ABOUT this album. It came out during my senior year of high school. I took college courses as a high school student and didn’t have the usual school schedule, so I happened to not have any classes the day the album was released. So I picked it up at Best Buy (after calling them the day before to see if they’d let me buy one early and was basically told to go fuck myself), went back home into my walk in closet with my headphones on and let it roll. Hearing the Intro and “Walk Into The Light”  was a magical moment, especially by the time it hit the first chorus. As it went on, I was eating up every track and was impressed that ICP aimed for a different sound and really pulled it off while still being ICP. I think the use of Syn singing some choruses and stuff was really cool. Of course, “The Unveiling” was another magical moment. Once the big reveal hit I was like DAMN even though I really didn’t know what to make of it. I still don’t really, but it was pretty awesome at the time. If I had to pick my favorite 3 songs from this album it’d be “Walk Into The Light”, “BLAAAM!!!”, and “Homies”.

So, while I did really enjoy Shangri-La and all the fun that was to be had during that era, when I do my (what has become) yearly digging through ICP’s catalog, I realize now that I prefer Riddle Box, Milenko, and AJB much more. As far as the work they’ve done since Hell’s Pit (which was a pretty awesome album by the way), there’s some good stuff in there but it doesn’t quite do it for me like it used to. The Calm was lame and I’ve barely listened to it. The Tempest is “meh” with a handful of cool songs. Eye Of The Storm is really weird but it actually has a couple of cool and different songs for them. Bang Pow Boom is pretty sweet actually and is my favorite post-Wraith album. Mighty Death Pop has its moments but I don’t get into it much. So, we’ll see what The Missing Link has in store. I’m sure I’ll check it out when it comes out. A double album could be cool. “Red Moon Howl” was encouraging to hear and if it’s any indication of things to come then we might be in for a treat!

Nice!  Welcome, Chevy.  I liked your take on it, very honest, without being a cynical douche.  Many people lack that ability!

Thanks man. Even though I somewhat “outgrew” ICP, I still have a LOT of respect for everything they have done and everything they have made of themselves, and I can still enjoy their music. It’s just not 24/7 like it used to be. I’ve known some people that were all about ICP back in the day that pretend they were never into it. That shit’s lame.
