I was 17 years old. I had that day all planned out.I got breakfast at Burger King. then I went to the Sam Goody at the mall and waited until they opened. I got my 2 copies and went home. I listen to it in my bedroom in the dark with headphones on track by track. I lift up my discman and look at what track it was on and the song was we belong. and right when I did that was the part where Violent J said “don’t touch it its hot bitch”at the end. No lie. It was crazy. Lol. Then afterwards I watched the DVDs.

I just listened to the entire album today at the gym and kept thinking to myself how timeless this album was… I had no clue I listened to the album the first time 12 years ago!!! *mind fucked right now, lol* my brother downloaded the leaked album few days days before it was suppose to drop and that was the first time I herd ICP in my life. The only song I originally liked was crossing the bridge, then I got into Get yo wicked on, after that my bro played me Thy unveiling and the rest was history. Still to this day I dont just think this only my fav ICP album…. this is my fav album in general! fuckin good shit man!

The Wraith is definitely an experience. It’s the one ICP CD that I have to listen to from start to finish every time.
I’m sad to say that I didn’t even discover ICP until they made the Wraith Remixes. That and The Calm were their new releases then.
Ain’t Yo Bidness is definitely my favorite track on the regular version of Wraith, but Crossing Thy Bridge is my favorite of the remixes.
I can only imagine the excitement of that night on both sides before The Wraith dropped. Wish I could have been a part of that. This just inspired me to make a new topic.

got my couple copies of shangrila, came home, waited for a bit for my homeboys to show.
bumped it front to back, sighing about every two minutes. after i was done, none of us really had much to say about it.
then we threw on the dvds, and we all felt a little better. but just a little.
sorry, shangrila lovers, but that album sucks. well, mainly the beats suck. lyrically, they did pretty well.
im positive i havent listened to it in ten years, maybe not since it was new.
awfully paranoid, arent you?

well me being on the fence about god and despise the concept and misuse of religion, after Thy Unveiling, I was like… damnit. “They preaching god the whole time?” “Then they aren’t sorry they tricked my ass, and calling me a bitch at the end?”
I do like Shangri-La though. but like hells pit much better. That year in FL, we got bitch smacked with 4 hurricanes that season, and around that time that album came out (august I think) there was no power, trees were down, roads were flooded, no hot water for almost a month, property damage, car damage, gas stations out of gas… it was shit I never experienced. I listened to that album almost everyday, cuz at the time, it felt and looked miserable outside, but I liked it.

I broke and couldn’t wait. I downloaded it the night before. Put on my disco ball, sat in the dark, and listened to it. It brought me to tears. Emotional album. I stayed up all night to head to the store to buy it in the morning and watched the DVD’s. Good times. That album kept me in a good mood for at least a couple weeks.

i can skip [and have skipped, for many years] most of shangrila, and all of carnival of carnage.
some of the other major lps have skip tracks, but on the whole, they are mostly enduring.
the side projects – forgotten freshnesses, pendulums and all the rest – are loaded with skip tracks.
aside…
ive been bumpin ringmaster alot lately, and one thing im sure of, is that if it was released today, 95% of the juggalos would absolutely despise it.
its a different world now, i dont think the vibe of the album suits it at all. and, added to that, we now have a much broader view of what icp is all about.
